Hello,
I've been looking up and down through the forums trying to find the PIT file for an international 32Gb GT-I9300. So far I've been unable too. I'd very much appreciate if anyone would be able to point me to one.
Thanks.

Because my phone won't boot either normally or in recovery so I tried flashing, and right at the start I get an error about there not being any PIT file for mapping.

You don't need one. You'll just brick it completely if you do flash it.

As things stand, there's nothing I can do. It won't download anything, and it won't boot into recovery mod either. I guess is time for a phone upgrade.
Thanks guys.

You might find PIT at sammobile.com .
But a service centre is preferable .

I couldn't for the life of me find anything on that site. Thanks though.
I'm on the lookout for an SIV now. I might send the SIII for repair afterwards and give to the wife.
Thanks.

You are probably looking for a foolproof rescue firmware, with PIT included, as flashing just a PIT will produce a hardbrick.
Instead try this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30087735&postcount=6
Follow the instructions EXACTLY, doesn't matter about 32 or 16Gb memory size.
If you think you need a PIT file then your motherboard is probably already beyond repair.

not if you cant get stock back on there. By flashing the rom and rooting you technically voided your warranty

If you try to do a warranty exchange thru t-mobile and after you send your phone back they discover it is rooted, you WILL be charged for the replacement. Your best bet is to report it lost to assurion and file a claim for a replacement. Although you will have to pay a deductible

Could you please post the modem, I flashed over my firmware with a custom one.
thanks
Any chance you have the telstra modem?
Telstra Modem
Hi Soregums.
Did you, or are you able to post the Telstra modem?
I am wondering if this will help my problem of not being able to access Foxtel on the mobile, as it doesnt recognise the phone as a compatible 3g phone.
I'd be willing to give this a shot and extract the modem firmware from my stock i9100t.
I've read that just dd'ing out the modem.bin does not actually give you a file usable in odin though. Could someone please clarify this?
My understanding is that in the process of rooting I'll lose the stock kernel though and there's no way to get that back unless Telstra post their firmware on Kies, right? Am I able to extract the CSC too?

Incorrect Modem.bin is flashed via Odin as phone .

Stock Samsung kernel is what everyone else uses .

Only from a functioning phone with root access .
Unless you can find a way to strip a rom .

Again, this is very difficult to understand. I don't mean to be rude, but is there someone who can actually spend the time to reply to my post in detail?
Are they planning to bring an update for the SGS II with jellybean? If so i will not root and flash my phone because i'm not good at it and i preffer original roms over customs.
hope someone can answer my question
Of course, but as always only Samsung knows when. You can always use Odin for LSD if your patience is over

Be careful.... You haven't got the phone yet but you're already talking about .pits. Bricking your device for good using a .pit file is just too easy. Seems like everyday someone posts here about this. First you need to learn about flashing and then get to it. Not the other way around.
BTW check if your device has the brickbug before doing any flashing on it.

Please stay away from using odin/flashing custom roms untill you understand what you are doing. You said that you are not good at it, so don't do it then. Start reading the forums and if you then understand how flashing works, then you can flash.

the help is much appreciated as I had been hacking at it for two days. it was not easy finding the firmware but I eventually found it and it is now backed up in a safe place with a proper name. Tablet is running like brand new. although I like my new Nexus 7 a lot more. learning that I just had to install the firmware and not a ROM made all of the difference. I was about to give up but I have never given up in the past and I'm not about to start. I was a little more patient but I was finally able to get it back up thanks to your advice.

You couldn't find one? Then you didn't to search very hard, as a 30 sec!ond search pulls up multiple sources for what you want. The stock recovery is of course contained in all of the full stock firmware images. So you could simply download a full firmware image from any number of places and use winrar to get the file that you need. Or a search would have also shown you that a member named toastido has already done so for you.
