Yes.
Yes.
Before you unlock the Bootloader, i would recommend you to get root access to the tablet. BACKUP your DRM Keys. Download the same Version as your branded Version. Install it, and try to restore your DRM Keys. Maybe it works. After that install a new version.
Also u can post this on Q&A section

hi,
i have xperia neo and i rooted it before using DooMLoRD_v3_ROOT-zergRush-busybox-su
i updated software using pc companion to 4.0.2.A.62 i lost root but superuser was still installed
i tried to unroot it and root again but no luck superuser.apk is read only and all rooting methods don't work for me
please help i tried everything even factory reset but the superuser is still there and i can't remove it to root again
P.S: is there any way without needing to flash rom ?
Build .62 is currently unrootable so when you updated the firmware it probably broke it. I think the only way to fix it is to flash the rom.

yea you are right..
you must downgrade to .42 for root option..
Thanks guys for the reply.
the problem was solved after i downgraded to .42 and then used FlashTool to root the device if someone had the same problem and wanted to solve it
unfortunately the firmware i downloaded from the form is international version and doesn't have the Arabic language user interface, i will just have to live with it
.62 is rootable, using recovery. You need to flash RootXperia.zip with recovery for locked bootloaders.
Cheers.

Ita not required root man, just usb debugging on and unknown sources on.

I've tried that and it doesn't work.
When you try to install CWM it says that you need allow root access on the screen, but nothing will happen since you don't have root yet.
I had to downgrade.

Yes, i believe it's possible with the latest version of flashtool (+ update).
The safest way though, is to revert to stock (do a backup of your current rom&setup of course) then perform the unlock.

Alright alright.
But,if i backup my current rom (which is for LB) then unlock my BL and then restore my backup of my LB Rom,i will have a Rom for LB on my phone with ULBL.

Hello. I've a neo on the o2 network and want to flash an ics firmware. I was going to follow this guide,
/talk.sonymobile.com/thread/35239
Am I correct in thinking that I don't need to unlock the bootloader or root just to use flashtool to install the firmware. That guide links to version 431, where do I get the stock 587 from please and do I need central Europe or global.
Sorry if I asked any obvious questions and thanks for the help

You can Flash the kernel using Flashtool and it Doesn't require any bootloader unlock, But keep a backup of you current firmware so that in case of any problem you can restore back.
and
Now its having .587 firmware link . Use the international version it will work
Thanks for your help. The 587 version must have only recently been added. I look forward to trying it.

First of all, I'm spanish, my apologizes of my expresions or misspelling.
That's what I've done:
1 - I've checked if my bootloader was unlockable, and my phone say's: NO
2 - Then I've installed the DualRecovery W/O root and with my phone bootlocked.
3 - Then I've tryed to flash CM11 in TWRP recovery, flashing first the Boot.img via fastboot.
4 - Device in Red Light.
What I can do to woke up my Z2? That's my record 2 hrs to **** my phone. :silly:
Firstly, it's stated in the first post of the CM11 thread that you shouldn't be using dual recovery. If you read the thread further, you'll see that it is recommended to use the recovery in DooMKernel to flash. And this requires unlocked bootloader.
Anyways, you can try using Flashtool to flash a stock firmware. Might be able to recover your phone.

If your BL is locked, you cannot install CM.... coz you cannot install a custom kernel. you should rebuild your phone using SEUS to put a good ROM.
Then you can put whatever ROM you want for LB and root it. but no custom kernel.

Hi there,
Is there any way to get root access without unlocking the bootloader. I found some ways in XDA but nothing is clear.
I would really appreciate if you guys can send me a link with a clear tutorial of how to get a new ROM without unlocking the bootloader.
I just got my Z2 which is sim locked (UK) and I can't unlock the bootloader from the official page.
Many thanks,
tux

You can download a Generic FTF and use flashtool to flash it to your device
Once you unlock your bootloader it stays unlock till you relock
You can flash roms n manage general other stuff from recovery

Hello everyone
I have been waiting for some time to update my XPERIA XA ULTRA to Nougat 7.0 and have been observing that many people are up to date with the update and would like to know if I can download and install the update manually.
If so, they could help me with the steps and the tools to do it.
Thank you very much.

No, I am waiting for my device to be updated in Guatemala I have it with a carrier here in my country, and I want to know if I can manually put it either with flashtool or from the bootloader update.
(sorry for my bad english )
To use flash tool you would need to have your bootloader unlocked.
I have that most branded xa ultra can't unlock bootloader.

Mine is branded, and can't unlock, useless and ignorant policies preventing us from getting the updates ourselves as the manufacturer doesn't seem to care.
I'm rooted would to flash 7.0 but no us ftf files.
All could fine is a 7,0 Latin America generic ftf and will not take trying to flash it.

You can flash stock ROM with flashtool without unlocking bootloader.
You can regain root after flashed to 7.0 (.182) by flashing boot followed by TWRP.
