Hi,
I recently tried rooting my Samsung Galaxy S2 and after installing a insecure kernel for the root my phone simply stopped working (every time it is turned on it stops on the initial loading screen with the triangular warning to signify a insecure kernel.) I have tried installing a new secure kernel and a reset to factory settings however neither helped.
I did a search to look for solutions, however since I am a total noob in the area I didn't want to follow advice that wasn't specifically applicable to me incase I caused more damage so any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks
1) Your phone isn't bricked. Bricked phones don't boot. At all.
2) Get a stock rom for your country/carrier from Samfirmware (not 4.0.4 in case you root your phone immediately after, forget you're running 4.0.4 & do a factory reset - you will brick your phone if this happens)
3) Boot into download mode (phone off - home/vol down/power), flash the stock rom with Odin (How ? Thread stickied near the top of Q&A).
4) If you have problems with the Odin flash, search for Hopper8's 'Odin won't flash' thread, stuff you can try in that thread almost always ensures you will eventually successfully flash the phone.
Brilliant, this seems to have worked perfectly! Thank you very much
You're welcome Glad you got it sorted.

Hello all,
If any of you pros can help me out with this I'll be eternally grateful.
So, I rooted my galaxy S2 with the guide on here and after superoneclick it just switched off. I booted it up and it just loops forever, yellow triangle then my provider (LGU+ Korea).
I can reboot into download mode and re-flash with XWKDD_insecure.tar. This starts the phone and I can access main features but it says rooted and I can't make any calls or 3g access.
As soon as countdown is up and screen locks (or I press lock) then the phone is bricked again and I have to re-flash just to get to that screen. So, I re-flashed and then ran the superoneclick program. Clicking unroot this time. It seemed to work and now I can get WIFI but no calls.
However, as soon as the screen is locked it is due a flash. Also, it's impossible to charge.
I'm new to this as you can tell but the guide is simple and I followed it step-by-step. I've read elsewhere on here that I can unroot this with a custom ROM? Where can I find these on the site?
Also, will they be applicable for me in Korea?
Basically I need to undo what I've done and get the phone reactivated. Please can somebody give me some advice and the download location of these ROMS that so I can get the phone reactivated.
Thanks in advance. Really stressing out here. It's on a rather expensive 2-year contract!

Thanks for your tip. Unfortunately I've tried that one and the other two all to no avail.
It just flashes until about 95% and then says 'FAIL!'.
Any other suggestions? or am I just going to have to go back to the shop and deal with the consequences.
hmmm havent heard of a fail flash, maybe try posting in the Dev thread

Against the rules .
I would take to shop and say Kies offered an update and failed half way through .
A thought go to dev section find a kernel and just flash the kernel .

It seems that I have bricked my SGP 5.0 (US). It started with a bootloop problem, and after trying various methods discovered in the forums, I am now left with a SGP that refuses to show anything other than the yellow "Downloading" screen.
I've tried flashing it with Eryigit's ROM (as well as a supposedly stock ROM) using Odin. I get a PASS from Odin, but when it resets it just goes back to the download screen.
I've found similar threads, but so far they either 1) haven't worked or 2) have broken links for one or more of the files to be downloaded. If I'm missing one that would fix my situation, please point me in the right direction.
Is there anything I can do to make my player usable again?
Problem fixed!
Apparently I needed to reflash the bootloader, and it booted into recovery mode. After that, I chose the wipe/factory reset, rebooted, and voila!
Even though no one responded to this thread, thanks to all those who posted before, as I wouldn't have been able to revive it without those posts. (I'll thank your posts when I have a chance--busy setting up my SGP at the moment. )
U need flash "low" firmware, try this : http://narod.ru/disk/39324223001/CODE_G70XEKP2_CL642455_REV01_user_low_ship_HOME.tar.md5.html
I think I may have completely bricked my phone as it gets to the "Samsung Galaxy S3" screen and restarts itself. The kicker here is that it will not boot into recovery mode and upon trying it simply shows the "booting into recovery" in the top left and then goes black and resets again.
A bit of backstory:
Following instructions from here (Update Verizon Galaxy S3 I535 with CM10.2 Android 4.3 JB Custom ROM), I attempted to do exactly what was described in that article and everything was running smoothly until the "Warning, content not authorized by verizon has been installed etc" screen came up, which was weird because I had in fact unlocked my bootloader a while back but for whatever reason it seemed to have been knocked out. After going through multiple guides I tried another factory reset with cache / dalvik clear and attempted to install an unlocked bootloader and figured as long as I could get it started it would be a win in the moment, sadly, none of the methods I had found worked and resorted to a guide that directed me to the factory kernel / rom for my phone (SCH - 1535), which I then tried to install using Odin.
After that I figured it had fixed itself as it booted past the "unauthorized content" screen but now simply does what I stated above. Any help is appreciated.
@JDiTo

If you really have an i9300 and you've flashed something for an i535 then yes, you've probably bricked it. Try a full stock rom flash via odin, otherwise a repair centre.
If you actually have an i535 then you've posted in the wrong forum, this is only for i9300 -the international model.
Hello guys,
I have owned my samsung galaxy s2 for years now without a problem ( never rooted or anything like that)
As you can probably already tell im not very tech savy. Unfortunetly just recently my phone will not turn on, or to be more precise, it gets stuck on the samsung logo whilst trying to boot up, a quick google search has told me my phone is bricked? I Can access download mode and recovery mode by holding different buttons ( again google)
I dont even care about the phone because its so old now, all i care about is the 500 or so photos I have taken since last downloading the photos off the phone.
From what I have read I need to use ODIN3 or some type of software to basically reinstall the phones software and make it work again but there are a million different sites/videos/advice threads out there and im not sure which one to follow.
most of them start by trying to "wipe user data" from recovery mode? does this mean my photos will be lost?
any help (including just pointing me in the right direction) will be greatly appreciated!
Download stock rom for carrier/country from Samfirmware, flash with Odin in download mode following instructions in thread stickied near top of Q&A titled ' Flash Stock firmware...'

Excellent! thankyou, SO just to clarify one more time, i WONT lose any photos?
Probably not, but, you either want a working phone or you don't. That should be the least of your concerns at the moment.
I apologize up front if this is has been previously asked. I found lots of helpful info on here searching through old threads but being a bit of a luddite I was a bit confused exactly which situation applied to me. I live in China and recently bought a s3 I9300I and attempted to root it using the chainfire method from the video on this site. Odin declared success but when the phone rebooted it just went back to download mode with a message at top saying, "Could not do normal boot, ODIN MODE." Turning it off and on, removing battery and retrying Odin flash produce no results. The most important thing of course is just to get the phone back to functioning but I'd also like it rooted if at all possible. I read that using Odin to install a custom kernel would root it and I would not be at all opposed to a good custom kernel. I read something about a binary counter that may need to be reset but that seemed to require doing something with the actual phone functions which don't seem to work. Odin still recognizes it when I plug it in and attempts to let me redo the rooting but it just shows a progress bar then reboots right back into download mode. Sorry if this is basic stuff but I'm kind of terrified of bricking this thing and am just not sure what the best course of action is here. Thanks for any help you can offer.
Chinese stock firmware is different to the international, there is a special thread in general forum on rooting etc.
Do you have a link to that thread? I have looked and cannot find anything that seems specific to this problem.
Please. Searching for "China" or "Chinese" gets me absolutely no relevant results. If this has already been covered can someone please direct me to the thread. I really need to get this phone working and am at a loss. Thanks.
