Yes is very simple FM but we need to fix this error

So.. yet another of my exploratory digressions
Munjeni already got "FM part" of radio to work on CM9* here (and it wouldn't surprise me if the apk on the top of this thread had something to do with it)
As with FXP's try (officially merged into CM around Feb2013) also added and mentioned back in those pages though, audio output was broken.
Seemingly STE hardware audio blobs had broken routing. I'm not sure why usual shimming around working stock libs couldn't be a solution, but still.
*and others in AOSP 4.1
After giving up for a year then, discussion resumed on these pages (and onward)
But for as much as the best minds were at it (and ADM sources were available!), it just so happened those days, that hell was breaking loose between kk breakage of omx, bluetooth .. and cm going bonkers with QA.
Furthermore so called "ST-Ericsson/Sony Proposed Android FM API" had been dropped out (purportedly because long story short, at the end of the day it was only producing results on fuji board Xperias)
With (I think) most of XDA jumping into the qualcomm FM bandwagon (and we also have a nice open app nowadays!)
And AFAIK switching to that (i.e. V4L?) become eventually in god 95A31's plans.. till dropping his dev thread for AOSX first, and then eventually feeding up with everything altogether later.
I'm not sure how much is left of all these brainstorming attempts in that rom code, but at least in this and this repos a lot of juicy lines remain for anybody to get inspiration.
Also worth investigating if any similarity with BCM early 2012 phones helps (since they should support both STE and BCM api - the latter having an open stack)
/me is also also intrigued to think TI-based 2011 line seems to have comparable routing problems
Meanwhile, on google side, they too added something to AOSP, but my educate feeling is that it's mostly for MTK-cradevices
What else?
Updating to 3.4 (is there a time it wouldn't?) could really help thanks to igloo sources (and firmware?).
Don't forget in a perfect world, even transmit pin should be exposed. EDIT: except this isn't, and QCOM recently dropped transmitting tho
And you can read late Mike Reid talking about testing endpoints.
Last but not least, I found some invaluable datasheets yes one is hdmi but idk where else to post it

[DISCUSSION] Cyanogenmod 9 (Android 4.0.1)

This is the discussion-thread for Cyanogenmod 9.
You can ask your questions here to keep the dev-thread clean
i dont know much about android, so if this is a stupid question, im sorry
andy said that hw acceleration currenty isnt possible because of missing drivers and files (mentioned here). wouldn't we also need these files for hw acceleration in cm9 to work (if so where would we get these files)? or does cm9 already have these files?
This build will have the same problems as Phoenix-Android ICS,
we need to solve quite some things, but we are working on it.
I thought the GPU is not working? In fact, ALL the phones with Aderno 200 unable to get the HW Acceralation working...
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
you can imitate hw acceleration by routing 3D events through the hwcomposer module
to the framebuffer/copybit/gralloc - but, it makes no sense because you have to OC the
phone to almost 800Mhz to get a smooth ui. users here know about the fact of "run the cpu on the limit".
its very unstable and shortens the cpu/device life time...

So, no way to get the HW acceleration without the fixed and update drivers, right? And if you never find them, we never see ICS on our phone?
Updated drivers will eventually appear, but looking for other solutions in the meantime.
So is there a rom released yet for the optimus v? I have seen one for samsung galaxy nexus with a alpha version of cyanogen mod 9 somewhere on here.
I doubt there will be a fully functional release of ics for p500 and v devices for atleast a year by then 5.0 will be out and we would have all upgraded our phones. There are a lot of issues around performance of the ics ui on the p500, and i have seen this in early ported alpha roms.
Isn't that the reason there is alpha roms? To hammer out any issues there are and to help out those developing them in finding any issues the roms may have?

i was just gonna say that
not to mention that those roms are ports. here we are talking about building from source.
really the main problem with performance is the lack of hw acceleration, but as _Arjen_ said, the missing drivers/files will appear eventually.
have some faith in our developers
I have full faith in the developers here. As all roms I have used so far flashed over perfectly fine and never bricked my phone at all. Just I found a stock rom and got the black screen once but I found the kernel that fixed that. But I will await for this to be released it will be great to have the latest android on my phone instead of 2 versions down because of googles mess up of not making the bumblebee release open source.
Can you post some screenshots , please ?

Thanks , but screenshots of the CM9 in the our phones =)
What use do other screenshots have?
CM9 doesn't look that different as AOSP ICS
But if I feel like making screenshots I will post some,
but rather I give my full attention to make all/most things work so I can release a beta
If you want to see some CM9 in action, look here.
Or screenies from other phone:

I saw this before as well, but I wasn't sure that it was HW Decoding... his post simply states that high-definition video decoding is working, but it might not be via hardware, and it might still be software. I tweeted him asking him if it is Hardware or Software and he hasn't responded yet.
Still, its a great step in the right direction no matter what. Great job yjwong!
EDIT: CONFIRMED
HW Video Acceleration is working! From yjwong's github:
"New kernel with fixed PMEM for H/W video decoding"
Hopefully it might appear in a nightly build soon!
SWEET!!!

It's been comitted already - guess it'll be in the next nightly?
Wow...big news! Can't wait to get my Netflix back on my TP.
Sweet can't wait for it to appear in a nightly. They also added some touchscreen fixes in the nightly just recently so if you are still on 0.6 its worth the upgrade.

updated??

I wonder how difficult it would be to cherry pick the changes and build it with them in place...
its not hard at all, just download the changes from gerrit and compile yourself. then merge with latest sync. but really, we should wait... the kernel has major instabilities. let the code mature.

Alpha 1 and then Alpha 2 have been released if anyone has not yet realized. 1 added preliminary support and apparently 2 adds Netflix-esque support.

MIUI on the S4

Is there a dev working on porting MIUI to the S4? Is there any reason why it couldn't/shouldn't be ported? I really liked it on my Rezound and I'd love to give it a shot on my S4 (maybe with some of the TW features incorporated).
Thanks!

As of today, I got it to stop defaulting to NV and instead default to RUIM like it should. I got the APNs to default correctly. I got the roaming indicator in the banner to read the correct networks. I just have 4 test builds to flash yet and hopefully it will be good to go. Assuming it plays nice.
No ETAs, No PMs about it, No "hey Dubbsy...please"
The thing I've noticed with MIUI people in general is when I post something in an MIUI post as a response, my other ROM threads are immediately swarmed on by a bunch of MIUI leg humpers asking if it's done yet. As far as I'm concerned those people inside of my other threads will always be told I'm not working on it.

Introduction
This is a general discussion thread about our efforts to bring Android to the Nintendo Switch. (This post will see updates, we just wanted to get the ball going)
Current state of the project
The base for this port is LineageOS 15.1. As of now most things you'd expect work. WiFi, Bluetooth, Audio, Dock, JoyCons via Bluetooth only for now. Full sleep does not work yet so battery runtime is not great, but this is something that's being worked on. As of yesterday Android can be booted with the hekate bootloader and entering TWRP works by simply holding VOL- while booting. There is still a bunch of stuff to do until this can see a full release. Especially the setup process is something that's being worked on making simpler.
How to keep in touch
Feel free to ask questions here (apart from ETAs obviously). Once we have a public build we'll open a DevDB project too.
We are currently posting updates on Twitter as we go along at https://twitter.com/switchroot_org
We'll have a Discord server too once the builds go public. A little more patience please.
Posted in the last couple of days by @switchroot_org
Welp, I sold my Switch, now I'll probably buy another Switch... Obviously getting the device stable is the priority at the moment, but I am still wondering if the overclocking feature will also be here for us as well? Since I can't imagine running 1ghz a57 on Android is that great
The remote playing is gonna be so interesting on this
Really, really looking forward to this. Amazing work, keep it up
Overclocking to 1.7GHz (which is actually normal clock really) will be supported. And we just fixed WiFi scanning so you can connect to WiFi normally instead of having to manually enter it.
Regarding remote play: GameStream should work out of the box, Steam Link has been successfully tested, so was Parsec. GeForce Now has an issue still that needs to be worked out so don't expect that in the first release I guess.
Netflix work in this port ?
Hey, sirocyl from switchroot here. One thing I need to make clear, in case you're wondering: Your Switch needs to have an "UNPATCHED" bootrom.
You can use this guide to identify Switches by serial number; if it's manufactured/purchased before approximately June/July 2018, it should be good - but the only way to make sure is by checking the serial!
https://gbatemp.net/threads/switch-...he-first-post-before-asking-questions.481215/
As an owner of a vulnerable Nintendo Switch i'm really excited with the progress been made here, keep up the great work
Twrp and android are inside the microsd or emmc?
Fun times ?
It was only a matter of time. XDA never ceases to amaze me!
Everything is on the microSD. Don't wanna risk Nintendo bans although _in theory_ you could put it on eMMC. We'll never officially support that tho for obvious reasons.
Very interesting, looking forward to seeing how this pans out. Now can I find a switch that can be modded is the question??
Will there be a need for root? Like can you run this on a note 9 without root?

OOOOOOH
Thanks for clarifying!
Will we ever see a wired joycon solution, perhaps influenced by the Lakka port?
At the moment you can either have wired or bluetooth due to issues with the respecting drivers. If one is in, the other breaks (don't remember the exact order). It's not an immediate focus right now now. I'll think I poke around actual sleep support a little this weekend...
Will you give us an option to choose between wired or BT joycon support?
Or are you just staying with BT only, as this option can be used when docked and portable?
I'd personally prefer wired, as I only play in portable. But this is just me.
And one more question - Android will be installed to SD rather than eMMC, and I get it, this is much better overall.
But what about performance? SD card can be much slower than eMMC, should we expect any slowdowns or other issues?
I wanted to thank entire switchroot team and other people associated with this project for their hard work. Especially ByLaws. Guys, this is huge, this is something we need, we can't be grateful enogh. Cheers!

Question FM radio working in the 5 IV?

Some sites say FM radio chip works in this phone, others say no FM. Anyone try nextradio or other FM radio apps? $1k is a lot to spend without knowing, And none of my local cell phone retailers have the phone for me to experiment with. Any input would be appreciated!
I can try but you need to provide the link to the app on playstore...i am unable to find any fm radio apps, they are all internet ones even tho they have fm in their name.
Note my question is for US phones. The NextRadio app is online here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nextradioapp.nextradio&hl=en_US&gl=US
Yeah its US model

Well, darn darn darn! Thank you! Motorola has an app too that works on moto g stylus 5g. Seems it'd work with the qualcom chip. But alas, I would have to find time to look for the app.
Sony's radio app from November (seems to be most recent) is here. https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/sony-...elease/fm-radio-8-1-0-4-android-apk-download/
Sony's online chat is terrible, or I'd ask them directly if the 5 IV has FM radio.
Anyone else have any luck getting FM radio on this awesome phone?
Doesnt work , it just closes itself
Thanks Viper. It's a shame Sony has abandoned their roots of over-the-air radio! My old X3V was the best phone I ever had, and it included FM radio capabilities. I very much appreciate your attempts here. I did reach out to Sony chat, and the person on the other end was "looking it up", "contacting the engineers".... blah blah blah... then ended the chat TWICE. Disappointing! Thank you again. If anyone else has managed to find an app that works, please post details!
You have to understand these agents are just random people trained to use templates as responses they hardly have any IT knowledge , i mean some do but its EXTREMELY rare. Its not sony i believe as those things tend to be outsourced and i actually know one company that probably does more then half big brands in US.
