Older CWM's - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey,
Anyone know of any older CWM's that has the capability of Amend Scripting? The new CWM that I have does support it, as a result I keep getting the following error when I try to flash a rom: I am on JB Remics Rom.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Amend scripting was depreciated by google in android 1.5
It was necessary to remove it when upgrading to the clockwordmod 3.0 gingerbread based recovery.
Please switch to edify scripting (updated-script and update binary) to working update.zip packages.
Installation aborted"
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Apparently, from doing some research, if I flash an older CWM that allows amend scripting, I will not have an issue flashing roms
Any links to older CWM's or thoughts would be appreciated, thanks!!

I would use Odin to go back to stock.
The only issue, is that when I first bought the phone and tried to unlock it, I was having issues, so I had to ADB Shell to change some of coding and files around.
If I were to Odin back to Stock, I do not want to take a chance of having everything go back to normal and the phone being locked again.
Maybe, I am wrong? Or does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?? I just want to be able to upload roms.

[Q] trying to revert to CWM to 2.5.whatever from CWM 3.0.0.8

Ok, after successfully rooting and putting EB01 on my phone, I discovered that when I tried to install zip files from my sd card that I was taken into Samsung recovery (blue). I found out that my CWM was dated, and needed a new one. In looking for the most current version, I installed CWM 3.0.0.8. Now when I attempt to install from SD, I am rebooted into red CWM, but it doesn't like the script, so it aborts installation of whatever ROM I try to install. Update.zip kicks me into CWM 3.0.0.8, and when I try to install from there I get a similar message. I have tried to flash a different CWM through Odin, but nothing changes. I have also tried to use the "All ClockworkMod Recoveries" option, but it tells me "An error occurred while downloading your recovery" regardless of which version I select.
I am running Superclean 2.2 and have Rom Manager v3.0.1.0
I did see a similar thread to this for an HTC Hero phone, and it seemed to indicate the CWM I installed is for Gingerbread. Hoping there might be an easy fix to this I am overlooking so that I don't have to start from scratch. TIA!
It's not JUST for Gingerbread. The scripting language that the newest cwm uses is edify. And the latest cwm doesnt support the older scripting languages that the zip scripts used to be written in. so all the scripts need to be updated to use edify. And they'll work fine. Even on froyo.

Also, the newest version of Superclean (2.7) uses edify, so you should be able to flash that in CWM 3.x

Ok, that makes sense. Is there anything I can do to update the scripts?
I am trying to do the same thing. I want to have a Rom Manager version on my phone that allows me to use the 'install zip from sd card' function in the program and run the scripts correctly.
I have replace the update.zip and update-recovery.zip with th red jt1134 CWM zip, but the latest version of CWM seems to write scripts entirely differently, so it'll get me into recovery and then recovery can't run the scripts. Any idea of how I can go back to a prior version of Rom Manager?

Odin. Here's the page. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=942021
Just use manual cwm for now. The ROM Manager is going to fudge it for the time being. I don't trust RM to do a proper wipe before install either. It would be nice to use the RM gui, but its better to just spend a few extra minutes to make sure things get done right.
How do you get into CWM

If you already have a super clean rom, just hold your power button to pop up the power down screen. Then select the option for "Recovery".
OR
Turn off phone. While turning it on, hold the power button+up volume+down volume. The Samsung logo will turn on, then turn off. Release the buttons and it will come on again then boot to recovery. Then select the option "update.zip" to launch into CWR.
So far what are the problems with the new CWR recovery 3.0? I want to flash to the newest SCv2.9 but Im reading some iffy comments on it. What are the possible drawbacks and is the only way to get back to CWR 2.5 through Odin? because since I own a mac this is a ***** and a half to do! Can you also run CWR 2.5 on SCv2.9?
Thanks in advance.

[Q] help! Noob... can't get the phone to boot past startup logo

I am new to rooting/installing roms ect. So I installed clockwordmod, installed a few roms and was running fine. I tried installing another one as it got addicting (cryogen). It won't boot past the startup logo. I am able to get back to the recovery mode. But whenever I try installing any kernel or rom I get the following error.
E: no misc partition
Amend scripting (update-script) is no longer supported. Amend scripting was deprecated by google in android 1.5. It was necessary to remove it when upgrading to the clockworkmod 3.0 gingerbread based recovery. Please switch to edify scripting..... ect... installation aborted.
I can't figure out for the life of me what I have to do to just get back to a normal stock version. I know have about 20 roms and have tried every option in the recovery mode. (I'm sure I screwed it up even more doing this)
Please someone help

[Q] How Do I Update To Edify?

I have no ideal how to do anything... and is willing to try anything. CWM Recovery Will Not Install Roms... Error comes up- Amend scripting (update-script) is no longer supported.

it was necessary to remove it when upgrading to clockwork 3.0 gingerbread based recovery please switch to edify scripting (updater-script and update-binary) to create working update zip packages.
installation aborded
Does anyone know how to update Amend to edify on the Fascinate?
Well, generally that decision is up to those making the scripts. I believe you're just looking to make it where you can flash things in CWM, and you need a different version of Clockwork to do that. Simply download the "cwm-recovery-ALL.zip" and flash that (Or use the Odin .tar file, either works the same)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=942021
Now go flash something. Wait, that came out wrong.
Its not working... i installed both ways... odin installed, but didnt work... i tried to flash it, but it said i needed to update to edify... help?
First, don't boot into CWM from ROM Manager. Avoid this. if you Odin it, then boot into CWM manually by shutting phone down, hold volume up, down, and power. When you see the samsung logo, release only the power. Continue holding volume up and down until cwm appears.
Do not use ROM Manager for any flashing on the fascinate, otherwise you end up exactly where you are. It's a great program, but it currently does not play nice with the fascinate.
What should i flash with? cwm isnt comping up... whats should i try? it comes up cannot find update.zip when i click install update.zip. cwm dosent come up when i keep holding the volume up volume down buttons

Flashing not working. Same problem: Need switch to edify scripting...
works best for me when I odin a .tar package of CWR, I've had a lot of problems flashing a clockwork. zip.. sounds like you guys need an edify-only 3.x version of it, I think in the ComRom thread there's a link to one and if I remember correctly the one I'm using is "CWM3-Voodoo" (no voodoo kernels or anything required however)

[Q] No Data + Can't flash ROMs

I've been messing around with my x10a and I can't seem to flash any ROMs in xRecovery.
I've been trying to flash Wolfbreak's ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1266080) but xRecovery keeps giving me an error saying that it can't update the script or something and that it was changed in Android 1.5.
I searched around and people said to use a lower version of xRecovery, but I installed the recovery through flashtool and it is still not working.
Another problem I've encountered is that data doesn't work anymore for my phone. No clue why.
Here are the steps on what I did.
1. Downloaded Flashtool
2. Rooted and installed xRecovery.
3. Unlocked bootloader
4. Flashed "X10a_3.0.1.G.0.75_AMERICA-US GENERIC 1233-8200.zip " for x10a through Flashtool.
5. Flashed Doom Kernel v06-1113 [medium OVERCLOCK VERSION] through Flashtool
6. Flashed Doom Kernel x10_gb_DooMKernel-v06-1113_wifi modules through xRecovery (worked)
Help is very appreciated! I've installed custom ROM's on my htc, motorola, and tablets but this phone is extremely weird.
Try ref lashing the kernel

Yeah, I tried flashing it with CWM and I've been getting the same error about not able to update script
Edit: Data's working now but it keeps cutting in and out. Phone keeps popping out with a notification saying that download settings didn't save. Any ideas?

Can't install KB5 modem with ICS

Hey everyone.
I recently used Odin to flash my phone back to complete stock. After that I flashed it to an ICS rom. But I still have the KA7 modem that's stock.
When I tried to flash the KB5 modem through recovery mode, I get the following error:
"Amend scripting (update-script) is no longer supported. It was necessary to remove it when upgrading to the Clockworkmod 3.0 Gingerbread based recovery. Installation aborted."
Also, on a random note: after flashing the ICS rom, I installed Titinaium pro and tried to batch restore my apps. Titanium works through all the apps the says it finished restoring but nothing shows up in the apps drawer.
Thoughts? Any help is appreciated.
here you have a link with ICS flashable modems from scrizz http://www.mediafire.com/?9tjt5it4rjjd6. Choose the one you need and flash.
That worked perfectly! Thank you!
