Ever since I flashed the NOS port of the HTC One GPE, I haven't been on any sense roms, but every CM-based rom I've been on,whenever the data does decide to work ,it never displays me as being on 4G, is this a CM problem or something I need to fix? I'm currently running crpalmer's 4.3.3 kernel alongside CARBON ROM 9-16, and it still does the exact same thing. In my house on a sense rom, I'd usually have maxed out 4G signal, but so far, I'm lucky to see 4 bars along side the 3G icon at the top. What's wrong?

I just flashed everything on Liquids page for the Thunderbolt Gingerbread 3.0 because after reading lots of comments, people seemed to think it was a good build.
I flashed the rom, then Imoseyon lean kernel, then the MR2 radio linked there.
After doing this I went from full bars and 4g to one bar and really slow 3g.
Using the app Phone Info to try and turn on my 4g radio didn't work because there is no listing for a 4g radio. In fact I now have options for GSM radios and one unknown listing.
Can anyone help me get my full signal strength and 4g back please?
I searched a ton for a couple hours now and couldn't find anything posted that would help me.
baseband version 1.48.00.0906w_1, 0.01.78.0906w_2
The radio is the newest radio just release by VZ. Sounds like you are running an AOSP rom if you are having the option as i had this happen to me once. Try setting it to the unknown setting. Maybe that rom won't work out well for you. Or you could try a sense based and possibly have better results. I would personally start off with flashing an alternate gingerbread radio, then maybe try a different rom. Also might want to have a rom booting up before you try a kernel, that too could be a problem. You did a lot at once so it's kinda hard to pin point the problem.
Ok, I will try another radio from the big list that is stickied.
Setting my phone to unknown just makes my phone lose all signal reception; the bars disappear.
None of the linked radios are working I guess I will try Cyanogenmod...
If you can get cm working using a gingerbread radio and default kernel, i would keep that radio and try liquids rom again not updating the kernel at first. Then if you get satisfactory speeds, etc, backup that, then mess with the kernel. Do it step by step until it works, or you find the problem. One thought, did you have the radio set to cdma only on the last sense rom you tried, or did you have it set to cdma+lte. Along time ago i forgot to reset it from cdma only and couldn't connect to lte on a AOSP till i changed it back.
Hrm, I don't remember exactly what the setting was on my stock Sense ROM. I did like to turn off 4g though to save battery.
I just tried Cyanogen and while it loaded fine, and replaced the kernel, it gave me the same radio problems. I flashed to the radio recommended on the CM7 page.
So should I flash a stock sense rom, enable 4g, then try Cyanogen or Liquids?
I just flashed [ROM][6/30/2011]2.01.605.0- Basic Debloat v2.1.1 and didn't change the radios from the newest GB listing and I regained my 4g and signal strength.
I wonder what is up with my phone and CM7 and Liquid both not able to use 4g?
At least I feel calmer now. I was kinda freaking out there for a little bit...
Did you try CM7 with the stock kernel? Or did you replace it right away? Maybe try a different IMO kernal, a slightly older AOSP to see if it works.
Well, CM7 listed a different kernel than what I had previously installed, so i left it alone.
When I flash to a Sense ROM, everything works fine. AOSP ROMS are giving me trouble when I switch from an "unknown" LTE radio to CDMA in phone info. I immediately lose signal and the radio pretty much is fubar'd.
If i set my phone to 4g in a Sense ROM, then goto CM7 or LGB, it works fine until I try to change the radio. I guess i just need to leave the radio alone in AOSP's.
I am trying out some different ROMS to find the best one that works for me....
I REALLY like LGB though, even with the finicky radio. Perhaps leaving the 4g radio on will be ok for battery life.... I would just really like to get the better part of a day out of it with moderate usage.
Thanks for the replies man, I appreciate it.
I noticed my 3g speeds were about double or better immediately after i flashed a sense 4 rom (one shot). Up to this point i was leery of using a rom with no wimax, but this changed my mind. Has anyone else seen increased speeds that's running a sense 4 rom?

I haven't noticed any 3G speed increases. The closest 4G tower is a hour away, so I can't comment on that. As far as overall speed though, it's probably entirely dependent on the ROM. I went back to a GB based ROM (Mean 4.5) because it seems faster and more stable than the ICS ROMS I've used.

Some developers do tweak data settings that the radio interface daemon uses to tell the rom when and how to request data. I would put money on it that HTC didn't put the effort into Sense 4 to make it more data efficient. Could be a coincidence that the tower(s) in ur area are performing at full 100% but i doubt the later.
Gonna flash a 4.0 Rom to test this

Which ROM did you flash? I've tried several ICS roms and the overall user experience is faster including web browsing on 3G. That could be related to the many tweaks that the developers employ.
The latest ICS I tried was Cool ICS v5. It was probably the most complete ICS Rom i've tried. Everything works. I switched back to GB because it could not do tethering.
One shot alpha, at this time you can't hook to pc and use as a disc drive after Rom is installed so might be good to have another Rom on sdcard to flash to later.

Tethering works fine on all ICS roms, with "wifi tether" app, it does require two settings, the profile should be set to "Generic ICS" and then check that "Routing Fix" is enabled, these settings are specific to the Evo 3D on ICS
USB tethering.. well idk about that. PDANET and FoxFi can likely do that.
I was just wondering, Ive ran a couple different ROMS lately based on the newest leak and it seems that my 4G signal is not as good. I see 3g more it seems to even get stuck in 3g for periods of time for no apparent reason and doesn't seem to change as fast.
Now with the current ROM I'm running its a bit better, but still I'm on 3g where I got 4g before. I was just wondering if a different kernel would have any effect on this. Im not really sure it would because the kernel controls the processor and battery, stuff like that doesn't it? Radios control signal. Im wondering if the issue may be 3g/4g switching though and not an actual issue with signal.
I'm really not sure about any of it

The kernel shouldn't make a difference. Did you upgrade your radios to the latest leak?
I have this problem with the latest leak radios. I actually went back to gb radios because of it.
On the past few ics leaks I spent more time in 3g than anything.

I've had my thunderbolt for over a year now and its been rooted for most of that time. Up until recently everything been working fine. I was running CM7, but for the past few weeks I haven't been able to get data when connected to 4G. The 4G icon shows up but is grayed out, but when I toggle airplane mode it turns blue but still does not work. My first though was that my radios were wrong so I flashed a bunch of different radios but none of those worked. Next I tried flashing a bunch of different roms (all AOSP because I hate sense), no help. I finally figured it was my SIM card so I got a replacement from verizon.
So none of this worked and on a whim I decided to flash a sense based rom, and 4G worked!
Is this a common problem with thunderbolts or does anybody have a fix for this? I really want to switch back to CM7 (running MIUI with no MMS right now).
EDIT: I forgot to mention, for some reason 4G data works on the MIUI rom I'm currently running. So for now I'm opting for speed over MMS.
For anyone interested my radios are currently:
LTE: 0.01.79.0331w_1
radio: 1.49.00.0406w_1

Hello,
I have had my tbolt rooted for over a year as well, I am a flashaholic and never had a data problem, maybe u need to switch ur kernel, I'm on ziggys kernel and I've been on since it released and never had a problem, I never really changed my radio, hope this helps.

There are 4G issues with AOSP, you get slower data speeds and for some reason my coverage recording maps don't record 4G properly when using AOSP. Sense works fine.

I did switch to imosyens lean kernel on a few roms after things started acting up. I don't think my kernel is the issue though, seeing as I was running CM7 for so long with no problems.

Odd that it worked for so long and randomly crapped out. You wouldn't happen to know of any fix or work around to this problem, would you? I really just can't stand the notification menu and icons that come with sense.

Was on CM10 WiFi and reception was a problem and was getting dropped. Flash STOCK ROM then flashed back CM10 to see if it would fix things and NO. Now I'm back on STOCK ROM and EVERYTHING works PERFECTLY and running smooth with ME's Kernel. Anyone have similar issues? I really like CM but don't want to flash all similar CM10ish ROMs to find out WiFi is Borked. How come only some have select or problems with reception and WiFi? Its not like I flashed other radios. I'm still on JB radio. Just frustrating
