My galaxy SIII isn't turning on - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Simple story, I went to sleep and left my phone alone. I wake up and the flashing LED is blinking blue and assume it's a notification, the screen didn't turn on so I decided held down the power button which had no effect. I then pulled the battery out and put it back in y phone doesn't turn on anymore despite charging it for several hours. I assume it's completely dead and will have to swap it for a new one tomorrow.
does anyone have some advice, suggestions or solutions??
-cheers!

Looks like an SDS. If you can boot into download mode (hold volume down+home button+power button) and see that you have no product name on then it's an SDS for sure.

Then it's an SDS for sure nothing you can do now until you send it for repair to have it's motherboard replaced.

Turn off your phone either by taking otu hte battery or by pressing power button for like 7-8 seconds.
Then press Volume Down + Home + Power button, to boot into downlaod mode.
You have to press those three buttons not two buttons.

My S3 froze - now it won't boot? WTF?

I have an s3 that has been rooted running a custom rom perfectly for about 5 months.
Today I was using my phone and it locked up - totally froze..screen was frozen and everything was unresponsive. So I pulled the battery.
When I put the battery back in my phone displayed the Samsung logo and after that just displays a black screen.
I can put the phone in download mode, however it will only be on the download screen for about 3 seconds before the phone either turns off or the screen goes black.
The really weird thing is, when I put the battery into my phone it will instantly boot up (I don't have to hold download the power button). The power button is NOT stuck in the down position.
I know the battery is charged. So what in the hell happened? I don't know if my phone is bricked or not. I could re-flash it but I can't do anything in download mode because of it turning off.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

When it tries to enter recovery mode I get the black screen as well
take out the battery. insert it after atleast 5 minutes. i've read somewhere that S3 is sensitive to the order of the keys we hold to enter download or recovery modes. so to enter download mode, 1st hold HOME button, then VOLUME DOWN button and then the POWER button. (not sure i did this all the time but no problem for me till now). good luck

Stock device won't boot - possible power issue - PLEASE HELP!

So I have a STOCK (no nothing) Verizon Galaxy S4 that is/was up to date as of 6/23/14. I think the last OTA push was a month or so ago.
A few days ago the device rebooted on its own a few times and I had no clue what was going on, but it stabilized for a day or so. Then yesterday it shut off and would not turn back on - the battery level was at least 80%. I removed the battery and reinserted it. I did not press the power button, but the device vibrates and displays the initial boot screen for about 3 seconds before it powers back off. At least I assume it is powered off - the screen goes black and there is no sign of life. The buttons do nothing to stir its slumber. I can remove and reinsert the battery for the same results.
I've tried POWER+HOME+VOLUME UP once inserting the battery - the blue text appears at the top but again the device shuts off after about 3 seconds.
Charger plugged in shows no light. However, when plugged in, the top part of the device does becomes warm on the screen and on the back with the cover off. - It actually becomes quite warm so I removed the battery but kept it plugged in just to test and it remained very warm. Unplugged now. Also it appears that inserting the battery does nothing now - maybe it's drained.
I'm pretty certain it's a hardware problem at this point, but I have no clue where to start. Has anyone ever had this issue or come across someone that has? I can take the device apart - does anyone know where and what I should be looking for as far as a loose connection or damaged component goes? Is there an electrical component diagram out there somewhere?
Any help is much appreciated!!
Have you tried getting into download mode at all?! I know you say that it won't go into stock recovery... But if somehow it got bricked then recovery corrupt be borked as well. Least if you can get into download mode you could try a no wipe image....
Also could just be hardware related in such case I don't have experience with that so much..

Yes. Same deal - it comes up for about 3 seconds... Must be a hardware issue.

It is and I agree. Just hoping someone on here might've seen this before and know how to fix it. I may try replacing the charging port hardware to see if that solves it.

To boot into recovery you only need to hold the VOL UP+POWER. Once the phone vibrates let go of power but keep holding the up button. I let go once the blue text appears for about 2 seconds.

If you can't get into download mode only option left is jtag
If you don't have a warranty there are places that will jtag it. I would recommend using someone that has done it before but I would be happy to try if you want to send it to me. I have the equipment but have yet to use it. I had a hard brick and thought I was going to have to try and Jtag mine but the warranty company decided they would go ahead and replace it. Like any place else, there would be no guarantee it will work. Of course if it is a hardware issue, jtag wouldn't work.
Some repair places will test it for free. I took one in for a sound problem and wanted to check out the loud speaker. The loud speaker was fine and they didn't charge me anything.

Okay thanks! Yea, I'll see if I can figure out if it's a hardware problem or not. If not, then I may take you up on your offer.

Cant turn on

Hello!
Installed CardHDRom V5 yesterday with about 50 % battery in this order. Flashed recovery, kernel, super su then rom, fromt this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...p-recovery-2-8-7-1-g925f-android-5-1-t3144866
WAs going to charge the phone this morning and put it in the charger and fixed breakfast for about 10 min.
Went back to the phone and the screen was black and the led light is shining green. And now i cant manage to turn the screen on Any ideas?
The led light is on even when the charger is plugged out i cant get the screen on, neither recovery or download mode
press volume down and power until you get a response from screen, then release power and keep pressing volume down. It will boot into safemode. You can try to figure out what went wrong from there or just reboot the phone

I'm gonna let the phone rest this night and then try starting tomorrow and put it in the charger again.. Really hate that you can't open the phone like the old s4
So I have phone that won't start.. Any idea what to use it for?
Is it impossible to access the internal memory?

Not unless you know what part is defective and how to unsoulder memory chip and have a machine that can read it. Why dont you just send it for warranty?

Same thing happened to me 2 days ago. I cant even get it to boot into recovery its a hard brick atm.
The good old fashioned pressing the red button doesnt work either. The power and holding vol boots to recovery but if phone is dead its dead.
A quick google seems to prove that this is very common with the Sony phones, just a sudden death.

its not as common as it seems, get a couple rubber bands and put it holding the power and volume up, keep the phone in your pocket(i am very serious, dont leave it repeatedly resetting) and remove the bands after your phone vibrates 3 times, if it doesnt at all then your phone may have randomly just died but as said, not as common as it seems
