[H] Can't delete folder - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

I am trying to delete a folder in internal storage that has a bunch of sound files in it. I keep getting this error. I have permissions set to 777 and I am root. Also tried terminal and got access denied.

Have you changed the permissions on the parent folder as well? I think deleting files/folders requires permissions on the parent.
Also, what file explorer are you using (don't recognize it from the pic) and does it have root permissions?

changing permissions

I'm having a problem moving an apk into system/app. It says I don't have the proper permissions and when I look it's "r". How do I change that so I can copy and paste the file?
Anyone have any ideas about this? I can't install the 3d launcher unless I figure this out.
When I browse with my computer, all I see are two folders which I assume are the internal and external sd cards.
But I don't see a directory called system.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How can i read/write to apps shared_prefs files within my app?

I want to add a feature to my app so i can backup so that the user can backup certain shared_prefs files of other apps (located in data/data/package,name/shared_prefs). I dont want to modify them, just backup and overwrite.
My app has root privileges.
Ive tried this a few times but i cant get it to work, im just getting a file not found error when uploading. I realised that its because the files dont have read permission to just anybody.
So what can i do to get around this?
Ive tried mounting data/ as read/write but that didnt work or i did it wrong.
Thanks
You have to chown the files properly. Apps owners are usually number like app_100, app_101, etc. Some files in data/data are system owned so its easy, when you copy files to your sdcard they lose ownership so it has to be fixed when they get put back in data/data.

[Q] Why can't I copy/paste apk to system/app? ("permission denied")

I have a rooted Verizon GS4 and am trying to install an apk as a system app using ES File Explorer. I have root enabled in ES but when I copy the apk from my sd card so system/app I get "permission denied". What am I missing?

Did you grant read write privileges?
Edit:
Nevermind they changed up the layout and settings I do see what youre talking about tho. Its gotta be something witb ESFM because I can paste something to system with root explorer no problem..

I believe so. Root Explorer is "on" and Mount R/W permission is set as Path/ =RO, /persdata/absolute=RW, /system=RW, /firmware-mdm=RO.
Does that sound right?
OK, I went ahead and bought "Root Explorer" and was able to copy the Calendar apk into the system/app folder. But I still can't get it to install. system/app is mounted as R/W but when I tap on the apk and run "install" it says "application not installed" every time. Any ideas why? FWIW, the apk is "SecCalendar_NAmerica_SPen.apk" and should be the apk for the stock Calendar app.

The not installing is normal, see what permissions another system app has, apply the same.to the one youre copying. Reboot and it should work.

OK, I'm now stumped. I've changed permissions and "owner" so it's identical to all other .apk's in the system/app folder. But after rebooting it still isn't installed. It looks right in the system/app folder, but the application is not in my app drawer. (No icon, widget, etc.) Any other ideas?
I know this is old but I'm having the same problem. The file is Read Only and I can't figure out how to change the path so that I can copy it to system/app.
Thank you

[Q] move files from one directory to another

Hey. I have a question about moving files after rooting, installed supersu allready and give root browser permissions in supersu.
I can't find another thread on this.
I have a problem with moving a apk file from downloads/direct to system/priv-app.
It says after i'm trying to moved it "failed operations" and it seems like it's the only directory i can't move files to.
I have read that the files or directory should have some special permissions, but i'am sure that the criteria are met.
Also when i go to supersu to see logfiles on the "action" it says that i need supersu pro to move that files. But will it works or what should i do to get this to work?
Sorry for my english.
hope you understand.
move files to one directory to another
I found the problem.
In system directory the permissions is only to r/o.
But theres is a problem more. When i try to mount r/w in root explorer nothing is happening?

[Q] Google Play Services on Coolpad 8675

Hi,
A friend of mine recently returned from China with a Coolpad 8675, which he gave to me. I tried to install various apps such as Google Search and the Play Store, to no avail. This makes it impossible to use apps like Google+ and Ingress. This is quite annoying, and i was wondering if there was a solution to this problem. I really have no idea how android phones work or how to do stuff like rooting, so basic solutions would be appreciated!
Thanks,
LeCrazyPanda
same here
I am having the same issue.
I installed Google account log in service, and Google play store with successfully I even found those on the Chinese coolpad app store.
My trouble comes with trying to install Google play services, as even when I download it from the coolpad store, the install always fails.
SOLVED
Hi I have one and i had same problem.
First you must root phone, that is simple and here is instructions:
https://translate.google.cz/translate?hl=cs&sl=zh-CN&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fsjbbs.zol.com.cn%2F166%2F1606_1657041.html
after that you can manualy install GAPPS.
I get Universal Pico from Paranoid then unzip it on pc and create this pack https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzMLUR1MF4g3RHBqQjBsTGlyVm8/view?usp=sharing
You must copy to Phone disk and manualy copy to system folder directories.
EACH FILE YOU MUST MANUALY SET PERMISSION 644
AND DIRECTORY \etc\preferred-apps\ THAT YOU CREATE MUST SET PERMISSION 755
After that you must restart phone and enjoy
For Copy and set permissions i use Root Explorer that you must manualy install from disk
Sorry for my bad English

Hi directories from my zip (app, etc, framework, lib, priv-app) must extract to /system directory. Means
files from zip/GAPPS/app/*.apk copy to /system/app/*.apk on your phone
files from zip/GAPPS/etc/permissions/*.xml copy to /system/etc/permissions/*.xml on your phone

I see all these files are APK's. Do I install them like regular APKs? Then how do I grant permissions? I have two left thumbs as far as technology is concerned, so I would sincerely appreciate someone guiding me, step by painful step. Thanks.

Do exactly as @Hagen656 says: copy ALL files from GAPPS, *.apk *.jar *.xml *.so into the corresponding folders from the /system/ folder on your phone. If the folder is not present in /system/ on your phone, copy the entire folder from GAPSPS. You don't have to install anything, just to change permissions to 755 for /system/etc/preferred-apps/ folder and to 644 for ALL files (including the ones from /system/etc/preferred-apps/).
To understand file permissions in Android, read this:
http://androidforums.com/threads/understanding-android-file-permissions.73177/
For changing file permissions, I used ES File Explorer, you can directly download the .apk from here http://www.estrongs.com/?lang=en
After installing ES File Explorer, you need to install ES Permission Manager plugin, which can be found here http://getandroidapp.org/applications/libraries-demo/93311-es-permission-manager-plugin-1-0.html
Pls how did you change d language of d coolmanager app
