Hey. I have a question about moving files after rooting, installed supersu allready and give root browser permissions in supersu.
I can't find another thread on this.
I have a problem with moving a apk file from downloads/direct to system/priv-app.
It says after i'm trying to moved it "failed operations" and it seems like it's the only directory i can't move files to.
I have read that the files or directory should have some special permissions, but i'am sure that the criteria are met.
Also when i go to supersu to see logfiles on the "action" it says that i need supersu pro to move that files. But will it works or what should i do to get this to work?
Sorry for my english.
hope you understand.
move files to one directory to another
I found the problem.
In system directory the permissions is only to r/o.
But theres is a problem more. When i try to mount r/w in root explorer nothing is happening?

Will someone please help me get root access with ES File Explorer?
I was looking for a good file explorer utility with a root explorer feature. I already had ES File Explorer installed and saw that it supposedly has a root explorer feature. Well, I've searched all through it and I must be missing something because I can't find any way to explore anything on my NT except for the sd card.
I've went into the settings, down to the Root settings and checked Root Explorer and Mount File System but this hasn't seemed to help. I see no way to "get to" the root directory. If I try using the up arrow to move up a level in the directory tree, I can't get up any further than the sd card. It just say press again to close.
What am I missing?
Thanks to anyone that may be able to help get to where I want to be.

In settings, and you need to set home directory as "/". Then you'll have access to the entire file system.
What tgraves said as I have complete access to my nook with Es File explorer.
duh! That was so easy. Now I really feel like an idiot.
I think my wife is right. Sometimes I can make even the simplest things seem soooo hard...
Thanks for your help guys.

Not a problem
I wanted to say thanks as well as I was wondering the same thing today, didn't think it would be so simple as just changing the home
ES File Explorer Root
Good tip.
Thanks
don't worry... this was a great thread to start because i just found it with google and was looking for this answer also!
whoot!
Tell your wife she's always right
Trust me...
If you don't want to change your home directory to '/', you hit favorites and hit the icon that looks like a phone. That should take you to '/'. I think that's what the icon looked like. Anyways it's in the favorites menu.

I had been looking for the exact same thing. Thanks for your help.
I have the little phone icon so I assume I'm in the root directory. Next question - since this is where the additional 12 GB of space is, is there a "best place" to put my files that I don't want to tote around on my sd card? We're talking music, docs, etc.
Also - Is there a method so I can see "/" when connected to my laptop? Would rather move files directly to the root directory than have to copy to sd card then copy/paste to "/"
I find root explorer to be better.

in the setting, tick all the boxes for "root settings" then from the "/" directory, you will be able to access the internal storage and others ( sd, 1gb space allowance)
What I meant was, is there any specific folder under "/" that I should put my own stuff in, or maybe create a new one?
B&N put all the reserved free space in '/data'. See this thread for workarounds. Accessing it via USB is another story, so you'll probably need to copy files to the 1gb partition then move it. Another option would be to use Wifi File Manager. Depending on the speeds you get via USB it may not be a bad alternative.
When using ES File Explorer to move music files from /data to /data/media it says "invalid path." When I tried moving it to a new folder I created under /data, it also failed.
Questions:
1. Is every folder under /data locked away from access thru ES File Explorer?
2. Is my only option to store content directly under /data?
Root the Access.
hi..
I have ES File Explorer installed and i want to install other font(.ttf). but when try to copy from sdcard and paste in '/system/font' folder, it shows an error : copy failed.
In Setting --> Root Setting, only first two options are enabled 1) Root Explorer and 2) Up to Root. other two 3) Mount File System and 4) Backup System Apps are disabled.
Also, when I try to check 1st one Root Explorer, it shows an error:
When 'SU Request' dialog popup, please select 'always allow'
can any one help me to install font in my android device?
Thanks<script type=

Have you changed the permissions on the parent folder as well? I think deleting files/folders requires permissions on the parent.
Also, what file explorer are you using (don't recognize it from the pic) and does it have root permissions?

Yeah, that doesnt work either.
Hi,
A friend of mine recently returned from China with a Coolpad 8675, which he gave to me. I tried to install various apps such as Google Search and the Play Store, to no avail. This makes it impossible to use apps like Google+ and Ingress. This is quite annoying, and i was wondering if there was a solution to this problem. I really have no idea how android phones work or how to do stuff like rooting, so basic solutions would be appreciated!
Thanks,
LeCrazyPanda
same here
I am having the same issue.
I installed Google account log in service, and Google play store with successfully I even found those on the Chinese coolpad app store.
My trouble comes with trying to install Google play services, as even when I download it from the coolpad store, the install always fails.
SOLVED
Hi I have one and i had same problem.
First you must root phone, that is simple and here is instructions:
https://translate.google.cz/translate?hl=cs&sl=zh-CN&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fsjbbs.zol.com.cn%2F166%2F1606_1657041.html
after that you can manualy install GAPPS.
I get Universal Pico from Paranoid then unzip it on pc and create this pack https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzMLUR1MF4g3RHBqQjBsTGlyVm8/view?usp=sharing
You must copy to Phone disk and manualy copy to system folder directories.
EACH FILE YOU MUST MANUALY SET PERMISSION 644
AND DIRECTORY \etc\preferred-apps\ THAT YOU CREATE MUST SET PERMISSION 755
After that you must restart phone and enjoy
For Copy and set permissions i use Root Explorer that you must manualy install from disk
Sorry for my bad English

I see all these files are APK's. Do I install them like regular APKs? Then how do I grant permissions? I have two left thumbs as far as technology is concerned, so I would sincerely appreciate someone guiding me, step by painful step. Thanks.

Do exactly as @Hagen656 says: copy ALL files from GAPPS, *.apk *.jar *.xml *.so into the corresponding folders from the /system/ folder on your phone. If the folder is not present in /system/ on your phone, copy the entire folder from GAPSPS. You don't have to install anything, just to change permissions to 755 for /system/etc/preferred-apps/ folder and to 644 for ALL files (including the ones from /system/etc/preferred-apps/).
To understand file permissions in Android, read this:
http://androidforums.com/threads/understanding-android-file-permissions.73177/
For changing file permissions, I used ES File Explorer, you can directly download the .apk from here http://www.estrongs.com/?lang=en
After installing ES File Explorer, you need to install ES Permission Manager plugin, which can be found here http://getandroidapp.org/applications/libraries-demo/93311-es-permission-manager-plugin-1-0.html
Pls how did you change d language of d coolmanager app
So I've got a problem and hopefully it's not something stupid that I've done. I got my 6p yesterday and immediately did a nandroid backup and flashed Pure Nexus (and SuperSU 2.67). For some reason I'm totally unable to download, delete, etc, a lot of the files on/to internal memory. If I try to delete a file from the root of /sdcard/ it works, but if I try to delete something in /sdcard/Download/ it doesn't work. I checked permissions for files within /sdcard/Download/ and the permissions are rw-rw----. If I go into Root Explorer and try to add Execute permissions it tells me the change was not successful. Any ideas?
Ok so I figured it out. When I got my new phone I copied files from my old phone to my computer, then copied them back to my new phone. I swear I've done that before without issue but apparently this time it messed up permissions big time. I was able to rename the folders via PC and create new folders via Solid Explorer, but still couldn't move/delete the files. I ended up booting to TWRP and was able to delete the folders using the file explorer there.
