A few days ago , 2 phones Desire X - mine and the friends' refused to receive GPS signal , still look for satellites and find nothing. Other phones no problem.
What's wrong - factory hardware failure ? Hard reset didn't help.
Both of these X were recently updated to stock JB 4.1.1 , GPS worked for some time after update , mine broke about week earlier than the friends'.

Can you try this? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.chartcross.gpstest&hl=nl or a hardware test app you can find in the play store?
EDIT: Try to type this in dial: *#*#3424#*#* it will run a test, maybe you can see if GPS works with that

Hello everyone
I have a Galaxy 2, everything worked great, and one minute for no reason WIFI stopped working, I mean when I turn on the WIFI device starts scanning the network, the scan takes about 20 seconds (of course, no network is) and then the WIFI is turning off by himself.
Besides, everything works, BT,GPS ,also I can get and receive calls correctly.
I Changed for several versions of the modem, dozens of times ,I tried HARD RESET RECOVERY way -- nothing works.
my current state as a pic below
I'd like to accept any idea and help
Thanks all
PLEASE
Please, someone must help urgently
By the way, can it be a hardware problem with only WIFI not working ??

Hi there porusski!
The best thing to do is to take your phone to your seller, Galaxy S2 has a two year warranty. They should fix it or replace your phone, it shouldn't take more than 10 days.

Do you have a Netgear router by any chance, cos they suck balls, and as a general rule, will not connect properly to an Android device.

Hello guy's,
I took my phone to the carrier and after lab check they told me that wifi module is move physically on the board -- they say that reason is bad flashing of rom or modem... Does it make sense to someone?? Because i flash just one time in day when i by the phone - and it was work perfect 3 weeks....
wifi module moved physically??
im having the same issue here, will be sending it back to the seller soon
tried almost everything possible solution, nothing works..

Yes, you believe that crap? Their answer was not credible, there is no chance to move physically

I was previously using a Huawei router. It kept disconnecting from the internet, so I changed it over to a Netgear DGN3500. I've had nothing but problems connecting the Galaxy S2 to the router over wifi. Keeps going between one bar and no bars, and disconnecting, even I'm not that far away from the router. In order to get 3 bars and a good signal I have to be directly next to the router.
Same issue here
Hi all,
I have the exact same issue, also tried wiping everything and switching rom/kernel/modem, also tried restoring to a nandroid when everything worked perfectly and still wifi doesn't work. I noticed that the wifi services are not running also.
It stopped working gradually after working great for a long time, sometimes I was able to connect sometimes don't, until it stopped working at all.
Do you have any updates on your situation?
Interesting. I seem to be having the same issue. I can connect to the router fine but it wont let me browse or download anything. 3G is working fine.
I will try and swap ROM (again) to see if it solves.
SOLVED
Turns out it was a hardware issue - 2 resistors needed to be replaced

where did you get done?? Im also having the same problem and im frustrated.. pls give me some suggestions...
hi everyone i'm new in this forum but i've already read other posts about this issue. my problem is the "error" under the wi fi setting. i did not try to boot or installing other rom. i bought my phone (a htc google nexus one) two months ago. it was used. for this 2 months it's worked very fine and did its job but suddently a day it started to be hot! it was so hot that i couldn't phone my girlfriend. 2 days later it stops with this high temperature problem but started with wifi problem. and it's about 2 weeks that i can't use my wi fi connection and it's frustrating because i can use 500mb/month and sometimes it's not necessary.
i'll summarize some info:
htc google nexus one
android 2.3.6
band version 32.50.00.32U_5.12.00.08
kernel version 2.6.35.7-ge0fb012 [email protected] #1
build number GRK39F
please help me!!
That seems to be a hardware problem, so you should take it to service
ya sounds like a faulty phone man :/
unfortunately
unfortunately the warranty is expired...
however is there a chance to save my phone?
maybe try flashing a new rom
my phone is around 4 months old. it worked perfectly for 3 months even after 2 ota updates.
i have been using wifi hotspot very often lately, the problem seems relatef but i dnt know for sure because it happens even when i m not using wifi.
the tempratures in the area are in low twenties, so it should not be the cause.
the restarts just takes 10 seconds and never more than that.its not annoying but it worries me and this is not for what i paid .
canany bdy help me on this issue. the apps installed are normal and come from big developers.
regard.

Do you have unlocked bootloader, rooted stock ROM, custom ROM, or something?
If not, maybe you should try reset to factory (if you didn't try already) and wait and see what happens.

Its most likely hardware problem (since htc phones suffers from random restars oftenly) and warranty service should fix it.
You can go to service center and check your device or you can also wait for jb update(if you already don't have)

Flowed from my HTC branded muffin...
Hello guys,
I'm a noob, and this is my first thread and the reason why I'm here are my problems with my HTC Desire X.
I already read the rules and I was searching for a similar thread, but I did not found anything. I was reading a lot of threads here, but I decided to open a new one.
The problem:
I have this Desire X for 5 monts (CID: HTC_032) and it was working great until two weeks ago. Two weeks ago, I got the update for Jelly Bean 4.1.1 (software num: 2.20.401.5). After the installation, the phone continue working great, but after 5-6 days, the problems begun.
Now the phone is not usable, in sense that the keyboard is useless, so If I try to type something, the middle row of the keyboard is untouchable, if I try to touch A, either I get Q or Z. Also if I try to touch some icons on the main screen in that area its not registered ( I need to press 4-5 times so the app is activated )
I have tried to do a factory reset many times and the phone after some of the resets is working great for some hours, and then is getting jerky again..I assume that some memory is filled after a while and the phone is not usable..
I was reading for installing the stock ICS, but I'm not sure if that will solve the problem. I mean, is there anyone else that has this problem or maybe you guys already identified this problem. I'm little bit sceptic that this might be a hardware problem, or it is a software one?
I would appreciate if you help me identify and solve the problem

Reading your post, it seems like a faulty digitizer, which only HTC can replace. Have you ever installed custom roms? If not, get it to HTC as quickly as possible.

Thanks for your post..I have only installed the update via the legal Software Update button, nothing else..
So, it is a hardware problem, like I was thinking..but I'm confused why it was working nice before two weeks and now suddenly start doing this stuffs..
Anyway probably I would take it to a service, because it is still under warranty and I would be happy if I get a new one..

Hardware can randomly fail. I've had many phones work one day and the next day they would refuse to work. I'd say get it to service center as quickly as possible before the entire digitizer fails.
Hi guys,
my gf is having issues with her new L9 II D605.
When having a call there's absolutelly no sound coming from the speaker and the other side can't hear anything either.
After reboot everything works fine for a while (maybe even days).
It's already a second phone with the same issue.
No root, no hack, no system update done.
System reset doesn't help.
Any ideas what could it be pls? Faulty machine, second in a row?
Thx.

Ok so i flashed jb kdz and then updated to kk. Its been 5 days and i havent had no sound problem. So there is a problem with flashable zips in some regions.
I am not familiar with abbreviations so please explain. I have same issue. The issue appears when I have data on, perhaps. I have 4.4.2 version and the problem is frustrating. Should I go back to a previous version, and how please? Also I have install the VUTALK disabling soft that comes from LG, somehow it felt it was causing all that. I will push it with several calls to verify it's ok...
Does anyone have any settings to apply that may resolve the issue?
Does LG give a response to the issue??
Thanks
ps. btw I'm in Greece with Vodafone

Is this happening after camera failed to initialize? I think it is some bug in KK .
I have problem also with quiet mode. It won't go if wi-fi is on.
I am thinking to go back to JB 4.1.2 but not sure how.

so i send my phone about 10 days ago to service. They returned it saying it's fixed and tested. They have changed my ROM version from 20b to 20c-220-03. The phone worked fine, and I did not have problems with calls until today. I read your post and I remember that I accidentally open my camera today and it said "failed to initialize". After that the call problem appeared again. Now I forced my camera couple times until showed the same thing, and immediately tried to call my home number and here we go, call problem. It would be sooo nice if they could just fix this goddamn error which frustrates me a lot.
It's a stock zip bug, blame it on LG, try flashing 20d haven't had a problem with it, but I'll be using cm11 soon, which I think is much better. Cheers
Sent from my LG-D605 using XDA Free mobile app
I sent the phone to the service and guess what?
LG service centre is saying it's damaged and can't be repaired as they do not have the necessary spare parts.
So I'm getting my money back... hopefully...
No problem with calls nor messages anymore
I do not encounter this problem anymore. It might be that some automatic update has resolved it. I am currently using Android 4.4.3, build KOT49.D60520g.
By the way, I do not know about any lost text messages anymore (another issue of this phone) - - also ghostly SMS does not reveal any messages that would be lost without the app. But I try to keep the memory not full as well.
