It's not a problem, it's just how it charges the battery. As long as the battery is not overheating or draining you don't have to worry. It's HTCs way of preventing overcharge or oveheat. It's why only iphones explode when you answer the phone while it's on charger

My htc amaze doesn't display battery % correctly all the time.
How can I calibrate my battery? I see a bunch of methods but Im not sure whats best for the amaze
Im useing bulletproof 2.1.0 and faux .008 beta 4
thanks!
what has worked for me with bulletproof is to drain the battery to under 15%, charge it overnight, boot into recovery and wipe the battery stats.
will try it, thanks

dont really understand whats going on any help?
I just used this app and it worked, it reads the percentage just fine

I havent been able to get my battery to stay at 100%, just says 99% and i have to guess when its fully charged. wiped battery stats and everything. running the same ROM

As the app says, all it does it delete the batterystats file. Use root explorer and go delete /data/system/batterystats.bin and you accomplished the same thing as that "app"

I get the same thing.. and because the device doesn't die all the way(at about 1% it does a soft power off) I can't get it calibrated right.
I'm using senseless, and I think it is more than the battery stats file.. tonight it was at 40%, started bootlooping for no apparent reason.. pulled the battery, rebooted and it said it was at 13%.
It has been a solid rom in a lot of senses(pun?), but I may try something else because of the quirks it has been having..

thats what was happening to me, i did a full wipe, using bulletproof, then calibrate, Im still testing but so far it reads fine, will update if everything is working fine in a couple of days.
another method is abit troublesome...
1. charge your phone battery till full (off mode)
2.when full unplug it, and open up the cover
3. take off the battery and left it there over 90sec or more..
4. put back the battery n bootup your phone.. it should calibrate..
if your battery is used too long it might your battery problem

I'm only a two week owner of the Amaze, but I've found curious differences between the stock battery and the Anker (1900 mAh). First, the stock battery will remain at 100% for a fair length of time before starting to drop (sorry, I haven't quantified it, but it's easily half hour to 45 mins even after making a call or two). However, the Anker battery drops off of 100% pretty quickly, as little as 10 minutes without doing anything. Admittedly, I've cycled the stock battery a few more times than the Anker, and even Anker says it takes 4 to 5 full charge and discharges to reach best performance, but I don't recall the stock being that quick to drop even after the 1st full charge. I haven't used the Anker enough yet to have a feel of whether the Anker will last longer overall, though.
Off topic, but somewhat related - The Anker charger doesn't seem to charge the battery to a full 100% - either the Anker battery or the original. In both cases, as soon as I install the battery from the Anker charger, the Amaze meter indicates just 96%. I even left it plugged in for another hour after the light turned blue, but it didn't help. Not a biggie, just an observation.
BTW, I got this from someone else who had already posted it, but according to a Google Engineer it seems that resetting battery statistics doesn't help. Read about it here: http://www.androidcentral.com/wiping-battery-stats-doesnt-improve-battery-life-says-google-engineer

I left my phone off while charging, and I'm having good results.. only weird thing is that it slowly flashes on and off the orange light and never shows green while powered *off* and on the charger.. I can't find anything that shows this is normal. Is it supposed to get to a green light when powered off and charging?

Hmmm. I would check this out! http://www.androidcentral.com/wiping-battery-stats-doesnt-improve-battery-life-says-google-engineer
I didnt think it improved battery life, My phone just didn't read it correctly which wiping battery stats does fix!
I am planning to buy a new battery bcoz the one i got is not showing accurate charge and stays on 1% most of the time from the first day.If someone knows a website from where i can buy a battery that can show correct charge reading on the battery indicator plz do tell me.I would also like to know if there is a extended battery that shows the correct charge and can fit in stock battery cover.
Thanks
Have you tried fully draining that battery? I was having the same issues where my phone would hang at one percent. But after a full drain it can solve the issue. After draining try to charge it to one hundred.

I have tried that many times its not working for me and i don't think so it will work bcoz when i checked the total capacity of the battery in a root explorer charge-full-design is only showing 500 which should be 1880.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1554966
Follow those instructions first then see how it acts. sounds like you just need to recalibrate
I have followed this and almost all other battery calibration tutorial threads given here but nothing worked.

The phone charges to 100 % before reaching the total mv but when i keep it on charge for more time it charges to 4200mv.Actually battery life is fine just like a normal battery the only problem is that the phone doesn't recognize it as 1880mah battery that's what i think bcoz charge-full-design is 500mah which should be 1880mah.
If you do end up buying a new battery, try and buy one from Motorola. There may be off-brand companies with low-priced one, but they most likely will not old a charge for as long as an OEM battery.
I'm not convinced the battery is at fault I think its a issue with ur current rom

I bought two Anker ones on Amazon and they came with a charger that charges them outside of the phone as well. Three batteries and an external charger and you're ready for anything. Haven't noticed that they last longer, but if you've got enough, it doesnt matter how long they last

I'm facing battery issues from few days, my 3d would charge fine till the battery level reaches around 80% but then the level doesnot want to rise up.After a reboot it shows battery level around 98%. Also my battery charges above the max limit I.e. between 4350-4355mv when it reaches near 99% but it never goes to 100% . Is it the battery issue or is it my cable which is wearing out from the ends ?
Everything was working fine before few days . No issues , with the weared out cable.
Will the battery swell if I continue to charge it at this voltage ?
Are you using the stock battery ??

Hi! I am not positive about this but i heard that if you don't charge your phone 100% before installing a rom or the battery % before installing the rom will be the highest the charging goes too. Hoped this helped!

I've had the same problem I let my battery drain down to 15% and then I deleted the battery stats and I let it charge 98% and I've found that the EVO has a charging script of some kind that want let the EVO charge to 100% and that also keeps it from over charging so for me to charge to 100% when it stops at 98% I have to unplug and plug it back in and then it will charge to 100% I hope this helps

My evo charges to a 100% without any issues. I've had to do the unplug and replug for like the first 3 months of having the phone. Now it charges regularly. Also I've never wiped battery stats.

Dai un wipe la battery stats.
Asa imi face si mie.
well heres what my evo does... i charge it to 100% and aprox 5-10 minutes at a time it goes down in percentage 99% 98% 97% the lowest i have seen it go is 95%
i've reset the battery stats occasionaly and we all know when you flash a new rom and wipe battery stats go with all the cleaning
i also got a new anker battery
let me know!
I have done the wipe battery stats thingy(which involves charging to 100,wipe stats for recovery, let it drain to 0,charge to 100) and it still makes this annoying thing. If it's off it only charges to 65%,if it's on,it goes all 100.What can I do?
I am running Shooter BEATS NG
Flash another Rom and see what happens

i red some diffrent idea about battery and i got confused ! which one is better for battery health?
1-when battery is 30-40% connect to charger for full charge
2- when battery is about 1-10% connect to charget for full charge .
Just don't empty the battery ( 0% ).. idk if it's true, but a lot of people advised not to empty battery cause it's Li-ion..
I suggest you charge as soon as the phone notifies that it can be charged

Li-ion doesnt have memory effect so it isnt important when you charge it, imagine if jou have car dock you charge it every time you put the phone
in and the batery is still ok.
Every few months I empty the battery completely and charge it from zero and I do this because after flashing lots of firmwares etc the battery seems to give funny readings. This might not be correct procedure but it works for me.
