Stolen phone still logged in. - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My phone got stolen a while ago out of my car, and I've since noticed it is still active on my google play account.
I don't really care about Finding the phone as it was a spare HTC Inspire running CM 10.1, all I used it for was Torque Pro in my car.
I just want it OFF my account, I've tried changing my password and looking on way to remove phones from google, but with no luck.
Anyone have any ideas on locking the phone out of my account???
Would have been helpful to the android phone manager was up before it got stolen so I could just lock the device.
Thanks in advance.

I would contact Google support. They helped me when my Incredible wouldn't fall off my account. It was returned as a manufacture defect warranty, so it was wiped once it got to HTC. I waited for a month before complaining to Google that it didn't get off my account.
Google responded within hours and took the device off my account.

You do understand he changed his password and it is still active? This happens as a glitch on Google's side and plan B will not work as his Google account has new credentials, and the thief probably already factory reset it band put on a new Google account, making plan B useless. I know, been through that.
Sent fromy Liquid Smooth Rezound running 4.3

PLan B says it's NOT compatible with any of my devices, as it only works on android 2.0-2.3 and the phone is running Jellybean..
As for the factory reset, it's still showing activity on my play account IE downloading apps.

So the thief has access to your Google account??? You need to change the password now, as in stop reading this and go and do it. Also, how is the phone still working? If you report it as stolen then the IMEI should be blocked and the phone would become useless.

I've changed the password says so in the first post.*Actually changed it twice*
But I've checked and changing the password does not log a phone out of google play or even Gmail, It just stops it from syncing.
Phone was off an Old AT&T contract which has since been closed and Google is showing it's got a T-mobile sim in it.

[APP] GotYa! (take pic of thief w/ FFcam) UPDATE

UPDATE:
I got a reply back from the dev..
I'll have a look to your request, but it seems your fingerprint unlock isn't part of the android framework though. If you have any hints or heard about any SDK, 'ill implement this

Does anybody know about a SDK for the fingerprint scanner?
Hello all!
Today I found the app "GotYa! face the thief" on XDA. I went ahead and bought the full app so I could test it (hopefully to report back to the community that it is working on the Atrix). I have good news, it works great! Even tho there is a warning about compatibly with Froyo devices, I experienced no problems in my 15min / 3pic / email test run. This is how the app works: Tell it how many times to allow an incorrect log in (if any) before the front facing camera takes a pic of the phone thief and emails it to you with the location of the phone. The email part is optional, the app itself will also alert you of a failed log in attempt once you have successfully unlocked your phone, showing you the picture(s) it took during the "breach". So basically you can even use it to see if a friend picks up your phone.
I tested the fingerprint lock. A failed finger print swipe itself does NOT count as a failed log in attempt, so keep that in mind. I have emailed the dev to ask if he can correct this, and I will update this post when I get a response from him. However, I think that is petty in comparison to the benefits of this app. Obviously any thief is going to try the pattern lock as soon as he sees his fingerprint is not unlocking your phone, and as soon as the pattern lock is failed - You have a pic of his face and location. In addition to these features there are other "SMS triggers" and such.. On the Atrix choose "EXIF rotation - 90". The app is $1.99.
So enjoy this app, I have been waiting a while for something like this and I am sure several of you have too!

@OP: Great find i just bought it!
Looks like a good app. Purchased the full version and will test out!
*update*
Very neat app. Set it up and it's working good with WidgetLocker. Gonna test it a bit more just to be on the safe side though.
I bought it, and after 5 minutes of setting up I tested. Received an email with picture and location within 1 minute of failed logon attempts. Works perfectly!
Location request SMS doesn't appear to work, but I have to check my settings for that.
Yep, looks like it works as advertised. Pretty awesome that it not only sends the location info but snaps a picture of any limey bastards that try to jack our phones!!
I almost want someone to steal mine now lol

I like it as well.... however I would like it a lot more if you could set a password to unlock the actual program on case they do somehow gain access to the phone. This app is nice!

I thought that'd be good as well. I'm just going to hide it from my app drawer.
This would be a good recommendation to the dev. Or perhaps having another way of loading the app through certain key presses or a hidden shortcut, etc.
as far as i've seen the FP scanner is closed hardware and not open to developers yet.
I just bought the app too now.
Anyone else have any issues configuring the email alerts? (I already emailed the dev about it, he will look into it.)
I've tried two different servers (both without SSL/TLS).
Both fail showing unable to connect. I ran a tcpdump from my firewall, and here are the two errors I see.

I have had no issues with receiving emails. In fact you can end up receiving too many. I was getting one every time I unlocked! LOL
Been playing with KP's 2.3.4, so haven't reinstalled it yet.
Concerning the "too many emails", don't forget you can now set up a threshold on failed login before captures !

Wasn't on failed login. I got a "homescreen accessed" email every time I unlocked.
I appreciate the updates, very helpful!
Regarding too many emails, glad the thresh hold is there. But I almost thought it'd be worth it to create a security email address solely for this program. Email space is nearly infinite and I'd rather get extra emails as opposed to compromised security.
Works great though! Love this program.
If the thief has any brains all he had to do is hard wipe the phone...lol

If it's from your phone it's not installed, it's simply a value in their DB that IF you get a new device you can simply download that app again.
I don't want to be mean, but you sound like a paranoid parrot to me.
Or did you buy some freaky app which continues to haunt you?
Someone grab my foil hat!
i do ALOT of 'testing' and 'repairing' and i do not need google hammering me about apps everytime a swap an esn or a phone. i tried to clear market accounts to stop this and you can not! see my above post. you telling me as soon as you swap phones and sign in to market you do not get notices? it eats bandwidth and slows me down when testing. if you do not think google records everything in detail and it is associated with your specific esn/meid I.E. you, you are waaaaay too much a noob. they even say it on tv from crying out loud, lol. or just call them and use some social engineering and speak with a developer

spc_hicks09, i'm not that paranoid anymore, when i was i would just goto a sprint store and 'test' a display unit and make a phone call from it then 'repair' another phone and therefore i appeared as if i was calling from a sprint display fone. lol that was years ago.

[Q] sms forwarding on GT7500

I was looking for an sms forwarder for my galaxy tab - to send messages to my phone so i don't miss them
On market place there are several such apps - but non of them compatible with the GT7500.
Anyway I contacted a developer of one of the non compatible ones called "sms forwarding". He forwarded me the apk which i have installed and it works fine.
If anyone wants the file I could send you the details of the developer - or ask his/her permission to up load it.
Alternatively does anyone know of an officially "compatible" sms forwarder?
PhoneLeash ought to work for you as well (see this thread)
(I am the dev btw!)

Can't download it on market. Says "Incompatible phone" *lol*
Looks like we have a challenge! I'll see if there is an emulator for the GT7500 and try to figure out what's happening. By the way, what apps _do_ run on your device?
I have a P7510(wifi) and it installs fine for me. I know its no use on this one without 3g(only the opposite way) but at least it can be installed..
Looks nice, thanks!
Hi - sorry for the delay responding.

Thanks for trying ... we've been thinking about supporting WiFi-only devices for PhoneLeash's "phone" finding features (obviously SMS forward doesnt have any application). Do you use any such app today for your P7510? I assume it lacks a GPS.
A request - PhoneLeash sends bootup and shutdown notifications to email. I am really curious to know if at least these work on your device.

Hey thats great news! If I understand your device correctly - it can SMS but no phone?
Sending to both SMS and email at the same time is pretty simple to do. Will certainly think about it ... is this just so you can see the forwarded notifications on whatever is in front of you -- phone or PC?
Thanks

Yes i have a GT7500 - it has sms/data but no phone app provided. I understand that the hardware has phone capability and some devs are trying to realize this but no apps so far.
Why SMS and Email: I forward all sms's from my tab to my phone so i can react to them if i haven't got my tab with me. I consider sms's to be transient in that its impossible to save them permanently. If they are forwarded to my email then I can filter them off and store the important ones "permanently"

Why not just use another method? There are tons of apps for android to allow you to make free phone calls from the prime. There might be a way around doing it through browser. I never really messed with the Google one.
I wouldn't be waisting my time complaining here if there was other alternates. there is no other service out there that offers free VOIP phone calls through the US except Google's phone through Gmail.
Google Gmail phone is the first of its kind that I seen since the old phonefree.com and Net2Phone offering free VOIP calls, although those had limits, Google has no limits for US callers.
For the life of me I can't figure out why this is not available to a Google Android operating system. If they at the very least designed Chrome Beta like the Windows Chrome browser, the service would be available. But no!!! Chrome Beta and ICS Browser are like imitation browsers compared to the browsers on the Windows platform that these services are usable on.
Because carriers dont want you to be able to easily make voip calls they want you to buy more minutes from them. Androids sucess and profitability depends on the carriers selling phones running android.

The "gmail phone" you speak of is an extension of google voice. Sign up for a google voice number and login with your google id on the grooveip app.
Voila! free calls to US/Canada from anywhere in the world.
I live in Dubai and use it to call my GF in New york all the time.
Gee, it's too bad there are no alternatives that allow you to make free VOIP calls.
Something like SIPDroid sure would be handy. Well if you can't get SIPDroid on your Prime maybe there is another possibility (or 5).
Maybe if you'd ask about something rather than just gripe and moan, assuming that it can't be done, you'd get some assistance rather than a dose of sarcasm.
You might not want to try to set up a SIP provider though. It will take some research, some reading, and you might have to <gasp> Google for some information. Nevermind the possibility of searching on XDA for information.
People say I'm critical, but that's part of critical thinking. That's a skill you may want to try to develop.

But of late i have noticed 2 problems, both with varying degrees of seriousness..
1) I casually accessed the playstore via pc and was reading up on few apps when i noticed there has been a T-Mobile Samsung GT-N7000 added to my account. (Do Check the first screenshot, the green one taken from the green tab on playstore page's left side which you expand by clicking on the '+' sign. )
Now i have never used a T Mobile phone ever and this is India where i am residing, so the probability of accessing is even more remote.
Infact, i have till date not even touched a Note mobile!
a) Any ideas what lead to that entry in my playstore's affliated device section ?
b) What precautions should i take to get the account/phone/xyz secure from my end. Present and for future??
2) I read about few apps which people were using and i proceeded to check the compatibility for one such app.. Oddly, all the affiliated devices were shown as greyed out. The msg being
This item cannot be installed in your device's country. (Check the second screenshot, the yellow one)
Now
a) Is this because i am not in USA while using the i777 / Supposed T Mobile model ?
b) How do i check the actual compatibility, circumnavigating the country specific restriction aside?

Obvious couple of questions...Have you let anyone else use your google account ? Or left your account login and password where someone could have easily got the info and used it...a family member, friend, etc. ?

Nope. I never leave my account unattended.
Secondly, the chances are even more slim as the device dubiously added is on T Mobile. I havent been to US, nor have i got any acquaintance here in India with that brand's Note.
i am sure your acc may have been hacked by someone
and yes you can search the internet for a specific app's Apk if you want it
I also reside in india and have i777 so i have a question
Which Kernel did u flash while rooting ? and did u experience any problem like getting ur phone locked to att after flashing a rom or kernel ?
also
i777 is Made for/by/in partnership with At&t so there is no way of getting a connection of T-Mobile with it.
I think it may be a glitch in you rom which showed up your phone as a wrong model on playstore
You may try to login to your Google Play account. Go to My Account > Settings. From there, it'll give you the info on "all" your devices, like when it was registered. Maybe it will give you some ideas.
If you think your account has been hacked, change the password and enable the 2-Step Verification. Maybe you've already done that. Just a thought. Good luck!

I have changed the password already mate.
And the entries are pretty strange in my account.
The T Mobile note's entry activation time is mentioned but not the last used one. The activation time is in March but i dont think there was any chance of getting it activated due to my ignorance/slip up.
My own Sgh i777's Registeration time is mentioned as 3rd march whereas i had been using it since January.
The last used entry for i777 is messed up as well, claiming it as 20th march, n this is my reg phone.
1) Does play store take a long time to register the phone with new operator etc ?
2) If i request Google, will they supply me the info/confirm whether the T Mobile's note is being still used or not? Or something like the IMEI number .. they surely must have got some info on that...

#1 It should be really quick as far as I can remember. My 2nd device, Nexus 7, showed up in minutes!
#2 Don't know about that. I won't hurt to give it a try but my experience with Google Customer Service wasn't that good.
