[Q] Totaly brick phone. Possible? - LG Optimus L9 P760, P765, P768, P769

Hi,
It is possible to totally brick P760? How can I do it? Or what can i try out?
P760 - Unlocked BL, Root, Stock 10H

Not sure why you want it but simple download a rom for another phone change the updater script then flash... and you should be hardbricked

Second question. It's possible to unbrick this phone by software method? Or how can I unbrick phone like that? Motherboard replacement or maybe service upgrade/flash?

If you just want it to appear brick, where the majority will think it's brick, use the unofficial fastboot and wipe the x&u partitions.
fastboot erase x-loader
fastboot erase u-boot

20.11.2012 RIFF JTAG – HTC Amaze 4G (HTC Ruby) Unbrick – Dead Boot Repair Supported
Repairing bricked HTC Amaze4G is easy with the RIFF Box. Phone is auto powered on with USB Data Cable connected to the PC while battery is connected.
Resurrector will reflash radio’s boot zone and will re-write PDA’s HBOOT version 1.90.0008. Additionally to SPL and Radio zones, the zone which contains Model ID is re-flashed too. Thus after resurrection phone will have Model ID = ‘PH8511000’.
There is option to reflash BOOT and RECOVERY zones.

I would say a possible brick requiring a trip to LG Repair Center. But that's what warranties are for.

Here is my device status: P769BK 10g rooted.
I need to know exactly how to attempt the bootloader unlock. Do I need CWM? What software and steps to flash? etc.....
Ok I'm about ready to give this a go. I've familiarized myself with fastboot, and will flash u-boot and x-loader thru fastboot. Does anyone have an original u-boot and x-loader so I can unbrick my phone when this doesn't work?(P769)

Here seems to be original files with patched files. And IDA working files... Take a look in archive.
Ok I flashed patched bootloader thru omap4fastboot. Upon flashing u-boot and x-loader the phone is bricked won't turn on or anything. Was able to go back into fastboot though and flash the original files back. Its back working again, however when booting up the screen is mirrored(just picture not touch) it stays inverted like this until I lock and unlock the phone after that its fine until next restart and a very minor inconvenience until I can get a hold of P769 u-boot and x-loader from some kind person. So confirmed not working at least on P769.

@Tablechair
Great you have tried without fear and congrats for recovering back phone when it failed.
But tell me, was your P769 already had the mirror issue due to earlier P765 flashing? Or it appeared after above procedure you performed and now screen working fine?
What happened was:
I did not have the original bootloader file from P769. I only had the unmodified files that payday was working on. I suspect he had files from another device variant P760 or something. The screen mirror thing I haven't experienced before. I believe if I can put the proper files back it will be fixed. So, I really need someone with a full P769 dump to share with me u-boot and x-loader. The screen problem goes away shortly after boot, but I've noticed another symptom when I try to flash using the method in your thread the tool hangs after trying to contact the phone. It was very late though I could've overlooked something even though I've used that method before I will be trying again tonight after work.

xmmm maybe someone with a p760 variant to try, but first we must find a way to safe revert the trouble before trying

Now I start to have a picture of the pioneers in tech
Quick question: is this your primary phone or just a fun/backup phone?
This is my primary phone. Thank you for your kind words but, it was actually a really foolish thing to do. Next morning after this I tried a few times to flash a kdz to get root with Lelus's new method, but it does not work something got really messed up from flashing stuff in fastboot. Now after attempting to flash kdz I get security error again, and I will most likely have to send my phone into LG for warranty service. I'm not upset about it though, if I saved a few people from trying the same and bricking their phone I am happy and it was worth it.

Phone Replacement

If my phone is still under warranty would I be able to get a replacement one if it has software problems like being stuck at lg logo and saying security error?
I think they wouldn't replace it but fix it for you. What have you done to your phone?
Flashing a rom for an locked bootloader phone?
Can you fix it by kdz offline flash?

My bootloader is unlocked. One day on stock rom like a week after flashing a fresh kdz my phone just crashed so now whenever I start my phone there is a dead android with a red triangle over it. Whenever I flash a new kdz it changes nothing, my phone still boots to a dead android with a red triangle over it. I think it may be stuck in a recovery bootloop. So after I thought that, I used omap4boot and entered fastboot mode and flashed me a new recovery. But now in the recovery I cant do anything it says something like E error cant mount \cache or sd card and things pertaining to that. The recovery is also mirrored. So after about a month of posting on xda in the questions and l9 questions areas I decided that I would just try and replace it. So I flashed ics u and x boot which when I enter s/w upgrade mode doesn't say bootloader unlocked then I removed the custom recovery which makes it just load up to the lg logo and freeze
What questions might they ask me if I want it fix is there anything not to say to them
If you want to try sending it on warranty you can start here: https://www.lg.com/us/support/repair-service/schedule-repair
I don't know if they will replace it or repair it. I also don't know if unlocking the bootloader voids your warranty.
I sent my rooted P769 in under warranty. They replaced the flash memory and sent it back with the latest FW about a week later. Works fine now.
It only cost me about $5 to mail the phone to Texas. YMMV

You better say nothing about your phone but just "IT FREEZE" and let them check themselves. Before that I suggest you flash the ics kdz first because ics don't have bootloader checking and your phone can pretend to be "Offical".

Messing with the bootloader voids the warranty. So you'd be better off just booting to LGs logo and NOT the Security Error Security Error will tell any tech right away that you've been doing things you're "not" supposed to do.
Yeah be tactical. If they anyhow come to know your boot loader's status then you're screwed. I mean the security error stuff.

[Q] Which one is more effective to recover a bricked phone: fastboot or flash mode?

Hi guys. I've been being a XDA reader for a long time so, today I decided to register in this great community.
As a Xperia phone owner (actually, I don't own a Xperia Z2 but I thought I rather post this question in this subforum since it's a general Xperia phones question and Z2 subforum is crowded, lol), I would like to know which flashing method is more effective when trying to recover a bricked phone: 'fastboot mode' or 'flash mode'.
I ask this question because my Xperia M2 is stuck in bootloop (I can power it on and both Sony and Xperia logo appears but when the "purple waves screen" appears, handset does nothing else, just keeps showing that purple screen with waves in motion).
I've been trying out to flash a .FTF file with Flashtool but to no avail. Once process is finished and reboot my phone, it gets stuck at same "purple waves screen".
The problem is that the bootloader isn't unlockable unless I send my phone to Sony Technical Service to change "Unlock Bootloader Allowed" to Yes (they can do it for free since my contract with carrier is finished). But before doing so (in order to enable fastboot commands), I would like to know whether or not it worths sending the phone to Sony. So:
Is there any chance I could recover my phone trying out to flash a ROM with fastboot commands enabled (bootloader unlockable and unlocked) knowing I wasn't able to recover it with 'flash mode' (flashtool)?
If so, which steps should I take? Maybe extracting .SIN files from within .FTF file? Any help would be very appreciated. Thanks in advance.
PD: Before flashtool, I also tried to recovery the phone using official PC Companion, but with same result as flashtool.
You cant realy recover a phone through fastboot (aside flashing a stock kernel.sin)
(asuming a custom kernel on LB is the cause)
There are many reasons for a brick but the most common ways of unbricking would be forcing off the device and flashing a FTF which can only be done via flashmode

Thanks for your reply, Envious_Data. If I flashed an entire ROM (.FTF Stock ROM file) with flashtool, kernel is supposed to have been replaced with stock one after the process, isn't it?
What do you suggest to do further? Firstly, I tried PC Companion. Then I tried Flashtool. My next step was going to be trying to unlock bootloader to enable fastboot commands but, from what you said, maybe that's not worth it... Any chance I could recover my phone myself without sending it to Sony? If I send it to Sony to convert BootLoader to Unlockable ("Unlock Bootloader Allowed: YES"), will the phone be recovered "collaterally" (maybe, to do so, they do a fresh ROM install and that fix the bootloop problem, I don't know, what do you think)?

They wont do that, they will refuse to help you unlock your bootloader unlockable
I recomend flashing a FULL FTF because it should fix your device if it isnt suffering hardware damage.

If your contract with carrier is finished, Sony can and, in deed, does convert the bootloader status from "Unlock Bootloader Allowed: NO" to "Unlock Bootloader Allowed: YES", but you have to send your phone to Sony Technical Service. From what I've been reading, in that process, techs do some flashing jobs, so maybe phone gets recovered collaterally... Any clue?
Have you tried waiting a bit for it to fully boot up? Seems like you just came from flashing and booting up the phone may take a while. I tried flashing LP rom earlier today, and it took me 20 mins before the phone boots up completely.

Hi das.dian24. Yes, I've been waiting for it to boot up more than 20 minutes, even 30 or 40 mins, but no luck. It's so weird. I can't believe I can't fix this bootloop problem flashing the phone either with flash mode or with fastboot mode. I don't think that's a hardware problem.

Maybe, if I manage to unlock bootloader, I could recover my phone just flashing system.sin through fasboot mode with "fastboot flash system system.sin" command... What do you guys think?

need modem of a unlocked h901

so i've tried everything to unlock this v10 and so far no go.I need an unlocked phone modem to compare to a locked one and see exactly causing the lock or if i can just flash an unlocked and it will work?
Also can't flash modem of any other variant or else you will be bricked for good.
so i tried flashing system and boot partitions of a lot of different variants to try and get unlock prompt to pop up.
H900(at&t) no boot
H900PR(brazil ver) same thing as at&t no boot at all
H960TR(turkey) hangs on boot animation
H960 (vietnamese ver) same thing as with 960tr hangs boot animation
F600k(boots perfectly, but no sim unlock menu)
F600L(again boots perfectly but no sim unlock menu)
Starting to notice anything? similar model names have similar behaviors ex. h900 and h900pr show exact same boot fault
So, the only possible way is the modem!
can someone with a unlocked t mobile modem please upload theirs. i'm going to flash the unlocked modem and use the f600k system so no tmobile bull**** can lock it again.I really think this could work as long as no stock tmobile rom is installed.I would really really appreciate it as im stuck with this phone rn.
ALSO , here is how to easily get modem partition if you have root.Download "partitions backup and restore" in playstore by wanam
check firmwire/modem in green and backup and that's it! tested myself and works.
So please if you have a unlocked tmobile v10 and are rooted it would very helpful if you could take a few mins to backup modem and upload it.
ok as an incentive im adding a 10$ bounty through paypal.i need the following 5 modem partitions backup using flashfire.
Modem firmware aka modem
Modem firmware data #1 aka modemst1
Modem firmware data #2 aka modem st2
Modem firmware FSG aka fsg
Modem firmware SSD asa ssd
Download flashfire by chainfire from playstore and backup the above partitions and upload them.i've backed up these partitions my self on my v10 so yes it works.I only put a bounty because this device barely has any dev half of these v10 are dead lol also im patient from trying to unlock this thing ffs.First one with the CORRECT partitions i will reach out via pm.
Quick 10$ takes no more than 10 min!!

Not sure if I did that or not. The phone is paid off so I would assume I can put it on another network. I've moved on to the newer model v20.
Question, why would the modem firmware change whether it's unlocked or not? Wouldn't that be done via firmware update?

Nope.tmobile has locked these down using the device unlock app.if you never used it on another network other than tmo then its most likely not network unlocked.even if its paid off, you have to contact tmo to request a permanent unlock.once they give you the green light for the unlock then you just use the device unlock app that comes on the tmo phone and hit permanent unlock. modem files hold the unlock info in this case.as i said above ive tried roms from even the international variant only to be greeted by the network locked notification.im sure theres at least one person with a network unlocked tmo v10 lurking around these fourms lol.again i appreciate you taking your time to help!
I will look into getting it unlocked. No big deal for me to do so since i don't use the phone anymore

Here you go my friend, V3 is device unlocked. Used the T-Mobile app Device Unlock. Went through the process. Phone rebooted and a toast notification popped up saying phone permanently unlocked. I suppose you can compare both V2 and V3 to see what changed?

Well, i just gave up.i tried everything, this phone is just locked down tight. The phone would not flash the modem.bin at all through fastboot or flashfire since it is a locked partition.I managed to flash the modem firmwire 1 and 2 since they are not locked partitions through flashfire.Phone still not unlocked, so i tried flashing http://lgviet.com/forum/threads/rom-radeonmaya-t-mobile-h901-v4-0-update-19-11-2016.58894/ rom and it has a working sim unlock menu but it says phone cannot be unlocked or something.so i flashed the modem firmwires again and run the sim unlock app and it prompts me for a code! I had my unlock code from ebay and entered it and it said network unlock successful and the phone rebooted itself. But after rebooting it still showed network locked.i think it needs to be on stock rom.i tried porting the sim unlock menu to stock but it doesnt even open.i just gave up on this phone, i just use it like an ipod lol.we have unlocked modem files though i cant find a way to flash it.it just might be what we need.flashfire wont flash protected partitions (modem is protected) and also fastboot keeps through an error when trying to flash anything.the only way to flash the unlocked modem bin is with LGUP.ive managed to extract stock kdz and replace the modem.bin with the unlocked one but i dont know how to convert it back to a kdz or tot so we can flash the modified kdz.also maybe 7.0 has some modem changes? Or i might just try flash modem of korean variant though i would be just testing my luck as it will result 99% a hard brick. 4 ways to do possibly unlock this
Port sim unlock menu to stock rom 99% chance your phone will unlock
Flash modified modem.bin somehow through lgup or lg flashtool.good chance this will work as well
Wait and see if you can expliot something in nougat .if were lucky this might have something.
Sending AP commands through Modem.i tried this myself.it seems you can only communicate with modem with the korean or tizen rom.you can send the command AP%ULCW.
UlCW=unlock code write.so you can write the unlock code through direct comm with modem via usb but i dont know the correct format to enter the code as it keeps throwing an error.
Still thanks to @amoot329 for coming in clutch with the files.when nougat comes out i'll try messing with it again but honestly this phone is useless lol.

the attachment is what i am getting after installing the F600L30e
my phone is probably refurbished as it was showing t-mobile and the stickers on the body are also tmobile but it works with F600L software only. LG bridge incorrectly identified it as H901 and tried to update with MM and that is when it got bricked and i revived it from 9008
