Possible ROM/KERNEL for Mediapad 10 Link (s10-201XX) - Huawei MediaPad, T-Mobile SpringBoard

Hey there, i was just wondering, is anybody up to the challenge of making a custom rom or even a custom kernel for this device?
This device is really underprivileged and with the right rom it would make a serious competitor against pretty much all tabllets out there with even a bigger price range (no including the really expensive ones).
The problem with it's original rom is that it doesn't take even the minimal advantage of the hardware (typical Huawei...).
So yeah, if anybody is interested in helping the owners of this device, post something here :fingers-crossed:
Thank you very much guys

i've tried to connect my MP10 Link via adb. Some some USB ports reporting "0123456789ABCDEF device" some (mostly USB 3.0) reports "0123456789ABCDEF offline" ... and when i reboot into fastboot, adb won't see my device...
Edit: I've found on Huawei websites firmware for S10-201wa (relased 23 January 2014, C232B002), unpacked and sucessfully flashed Boot.img and System.img via adb into my S10-201L ... now i have Questionmark instead of battery icon and no signal
Now Trying to flash back to C232B003, relased 10 September 2013 .... and it works.....
So, i think we have somethink to start with....

Do you by chance have the firmware S10-201wa on your hard drive or somewhere else? Could you please kindly upload it to mediafire or something and post the link? I would be very grateful, since the firmware is not available on the Huawei site anymore.

Almost two years later but I will be looking into this I already have a working kernel, no thanks to the poor Huawei sources which are botched from the OEM.
I would like to end up with a KK / lolipop based rom at the end, the current roms crawls after a couple of added programs.

Wow finally. I was expecting EMUI 3.0 will support Mediapad 10, turns out, they left this wonderful device in the cold. This is a very good device and it will be a tragedy if there will be no custom roms for it. I will be looking forward. Thanks a lot darkspr1te. Your the man!!!

This is where Huawei is doomed. Lack of support for their devices like 10 link. Looking forward to darkspr1te's work.... God bless you man

Hi,
Does anyone know if darkspr1te is still working in this ROM?

Is there still on progress custom rom for this Mediapad 10 fhd? Hope wonderful inform ℹ for good news come in.. Thx for great effort

It seems that we don't see a custom ROM for Mediapad 10 link...what a pity!!!

I have a compiling kernel but not tested, i also have a few cm10/11 configs i've never used, let me push them to my github for others, i've also done a lot of reversing work on the bootloaders, again it's just documents and notes but may be handy.

Great!! Good work, Darkspr1te!! Lot of people hope you can compile a kit kat or CM 11 ROM to test...to improve our Tablet. Do you think Lollipop will be possible?

Hi, darkspr1te,
Some progress in your work with this device? Any chance to see a custom ROM in Mediapad Link?

Try this

has anyone try this?

Looking for an Alpha Lollipop build for the G2? Look no further!

"The G2 Dream Team" (and they well deserve that name) has released not one, but TWO lollipop builds for the LG G2. Both ROMs are based on the same build tree, but one ROM is CM12 and the other is a LiquidSmooth 4.0 ROM. Despite being built from the same build tree, they carry different features. They are stable and usable for daily drivers, but they may carry some bugs, like a non-functional video playback, NFC issues for LS/VS980 but it should all be sorted out in the near future. Head over to the threads to read more!:

Older posts:
An increasing amount of devices have been receiving unofficial Android Lollipop 5.0 ports, like the HTC One M8 and the LG Optimus L9. Today another device can be added to the list of phones receiving a treatment with the taste of Android Lollipop, the LG G2. While there generally has been a wide contribution from the community; testing, sharing files and giving ideas, two XDA members stood out in particular in order to create the build, @ylukasy and @InfinitusDesigner. The port is still in a very early pre-alpha stage, and the bugs are barely known yet, but the ROM boots and has even been rooted! While it might be wisest to wait until an official thread has been made before grabbing your devices and start flashing, @ylukasy has already provided a download link for the ROM, and calls for people to help discover the bugs so that they can be eliminated. Please notice that the ROM might not be stable enough to be used as a daily driver, but owners of a LG G2 are officially an important step closer to having a stable Lollipop ROM!
If this post caught your interest and you're willing to take the risk, head over to the last pages in the following thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/general/unofficial-cm12-nexus-5-posted-t2936398
As previously mentioned, a lot of things are not sorted out yet, and the build might not be for your device number, so make sure you read the entire thread before continuing, or simply wait untill an official thread is made.
Update:
An official thread has been posted and it can be found by following this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/development/rom-android-lollipop-fast-clean-t2941922
The build is a port of the Nexus 5 ROM, and users of the ROM have been saying that the rom is very fast and fluid, calls work, camera works (although the quality is inferior), but other users have been reporting random reboots and incompatibilities with certain apps such as YouTube or WhatsApp.

This post will be updated regularly when new information regarding Lollipop ports surface.
Fantastic News! Will get round to trying it shortly, thanks for the link!
While I have my doubts about it being functional (or even booting) on my LS980, I'll give it a shot and see what happens.
Nice to see things moving at breakneck speeds these days.
On a side note, I just read the AnandTech review of the Nexus 6 and am happy to report that my well over a year old G2 beats it in several benchmarks so I'm pretty satisfied at the moment, especially considering I got it for free. I mean really...
In before "no build for xxxx?!?!?!?"
Anyone know how to port a d802 rom to d800?
Ready to try it out and see what happened..??
his build is from the same source the other was he doesn't deserve credit for it. it's using cm12 kernel and dev claims it's using nexus 5 port yet requires gapps and no signs of any nexus 5 code at all.
Wouldn't it be alot easier to just post the download link here?

Updating this thread later today if nothing gets in the way.
Hi everybody!!
I need a tester please:
I built pure AOSP for the D802 from sources of Android right now, has anybody time to test it?
It is an experimental build and I didn't test it right now, so I don't know if it is working, please make a backup from your current rom.
The build comes with an built in CWM recovery and should be with root access. It can be flashed with the same instructions like the CM 12 build.
Edit: Bootloop right now ... Anybody, can you take a logcat?

Thank you in advance!! Please anybody who tries it: can you send me a pm?

Android 5 ROM for Huawei MediaPad T1 10

Hi,
I would like to test Android 5/Lollipop on my Huawei MediaPad T1 10 but haven't found so much info on ROMs to this tablet.
Any experiences on well working Lollipop ROMs?
Anyone?
I have searched too but without luck. I would be very greatful if there was a solution to install any CM based custom rom or stock ASOP.
I second this!
Anyone, who tried it or likes to do it and post his results?
I am also.. Anyone know how to root this tablet?

If you have the same tablet as me, Mediapad T1 10 (T1-A21W), you can easily root it with King Root.
I am also looking for information about this tablet (recovery, roms, etc) and don´t find anything. Anyone has found some development of this tablet?
I am also searching for an Lolipop Rom for this Tablet. Is it possible to install that at this Tablet?
I have been searching far and wide but it seems there is no one interested in developing anything for this pad, very much including Huawei itself. This will be my last Huawei device ever.

I've been trying to bring development to this tablet quite months ago but i keep struggling with the kernel source which gives me a lot of errors when trying to compile. That is the main problem that is not letting me to build for example a LineageOS 14.1 (7.1.1 ROM).
For example i think i have a solid device tree and vendor blobs to work with our tablet but the only problem is the kernel source.
About the recovery, I've ported a couple ones that boot and work. One of them is a TWRP 2.X recovery that can flash, make backups, restore and all that stuffs but the touchscreen responses weird when trying to interact with it.
The other recovery is a Phil Touch recovery, which is based on the deprecated CWM recovery. This one works without any problem but is deprecated and it won't probably be capable to flash 5.X and newer android versions, so i don't have much interest on it.
Also i tried to compile a TWRP recovery from source but again the problem is the kernel source.
Anyone who owns this tablet or want to help with this project that has a minimal experience with android development would be great if can cooperate with me to fix the issues and finally have a solid base to bring development for our device, because this device has a great potential for development and it would be sad to not be capable enjoy it.
For anyone interested:
I opened a thread for the Philz Touch custom recovery for our tablet that i ported some time ago: https://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-mediapad/development/recovery-unofficial-philz-touch-6-59-0-t3584383
Edit: Opened another thread for general things about our device (ROMs, discussion, ...): https://forum.xda-developers.com/hu.../everything-huawei-mediapad-t1-10-t1-t3608754

[TREE] Need help creating the Honor 7 device tree.

NEED HELP
Hello guys, I'm working on a generic tree for our beloved device Honor 7, but not getting enough success, so each and every of you are invited to help me create a new device tree for AOSP 5.1 ROM or CM 12.1, so that we can taste the Stock Android too.
The benefits of these ROMs are that the device will get more fast and stable as there will be minimum apps and bloatwares installed.
So, it is a humble request, that whosoever have any knowledge about creating a tree from scratch please help me.
I have created a skeleton of the tree but it is not a success too as there are many things we still have to consider.
@sminki and @kenshiwara, we will setup an organization on GitHub so everyone can contribute there only.
Hi,
It will be wonderfull to have CM on our honor7.
Sorry mate. You haven't seen my troubles over the last few weeks then
After my H7 'died', I got a warranty replacement phone, and unlocking was proving impossible, each day was bringing more frustration and anger so i've sold it!
That's it, i'm out of the "honor" business for good (hence the "unsupported" bit on the recovery and kernel threads), but as a parting "gift", here's a few things that may help "the cause".
Sorry, the length of this post got out of control! :silly:
device tree starting point:
https://github.com/TeamWin/android_device_huawei_p8 - it's similar enough, that with a little editing and boom, we had our recovery*
https://github.com/debbiche/android_device_huawei_p8 - another fuller "tree" (wip), again the p8 is similar enough to use as a base
https://github.com/Gibbon99/android_device_huawei_hwgemini - mediapad x2 - another kirin
if you're insane, you could get the dtb files (iirc - i got these from compiling the source) and decompile, but this contains EVERYTHING, theses files are huge, many hundred kb and would take days to get the info out you need (if there is any!)
cm
have a look at codeworkx H6 git, it's the closest device you'll find that has CM actually running on it, albeit CM11 (and abandoned!)
https://github.com/codeworkx/proprietary_vendor_huawei
https://github.com/codeworkx/android_device_huawei_h60-common
other things:
osm0sis' kitchen out of the many boot image unpack/repack tools, this worked the best with huawei boot/recovery images
* with this in mind, anyone running Linux can pull apart my recovery, fix the issues in default.prop, add extra partitions to fstab and repack it. then post it for everyone else to use.
with the sh!tty way fastboot is on these phones, and the way modem binaries get patched, you're going to have to look for a way to write these in recovery (scripted with dd i imagine) so that everyone can use without having the ballache that is B100,B121,B140 etc etc to get to a version that will work with your ROM. this for me is where it's all going to hurt! (and end with bricks!)
final thing - the kernel source is terrible, it is so far removed from AOSP that simple things that you could normally just drop in, like cpu governors won't work. unless you really know C++ and how to debug it's gonna be near stock (like mine funnily enough!)
Good luck chaps :good: it's gonna be a hell of a ride!

Thanks, this will help enough and I was not aware of your troubles
I got a device tree working with CM12.1 and USB debugging, but Mali was a showstopper. Now I'm fighting with CM13 instead... Generally, the B313 ROM is far less hacky, but we lose the open source kernel for a while until they release one.
I will set up a GitHub tree with what I have when I get CM13 compiling again, however keep in mind that you need to patch the boot.img manually to use the closed-source B313 kernel until Huawei releases the source for that, which probably won't happen at the very least until it's fully in OTA. I'd love some help from someone who is more experienced, especially with the Mali drivers which are the worst of pains.
EDIT: I got CM13 compiling again. Let's hope for the best.
EDIT2: Mali works! Sadly, that currently depends on Huawei's libgui.so which brings in a huge chunk of Huawei's patched libraries - otherwise, it segfaults in strange places. Any ideas?

I will be developing AOSP 6.0, if others can give it a try then maybe we can get it.

Custom ROM Progress/Collaboration?

I am curious if anyone is currently working on getting CM (or any custom ROM) working for our devices. I'm not trying to bug anyone or get an ETA, but I was thinking about attempting to port CM with their tutorial.
If anyone is working on porting a ROM, or has any tips for me I'd love to talk. Thanks.
I've just started looking into porting CM over to the 5x. I've never built a port before and I'm a bit lost in the CM documentation for it. Feel free to PM me or post below with any tips or advice.

I have only built unofficial builds before, but hopefully since we have source and other Huawei devices with CM, it should be fairly easy.
If you haven't built CM for a device that it's already been ported to, I'd recommend doing that before you attempt to port it.
Good luck. I'll post any progress I make.
Am too eagerly waiting for cm on 5x .fed up of bad performance from stock .heating up too much .I was really disappointed by the heating problem .
What else I had hopes On was the on cm12.1 or 13 .
I usually check for a thread if anyone build one cm ROM for our device but still the development haven't started !

I'm *trying* to get CM 12.1 to work for our device, but I've never ported before so don't expect anything soon

It's still early. The fact that Huawei makes bootloader unlock codes available and has provided the amount of source code for the kernel that they have has allowed development here to happen much more rapidly than many devices do (particularly devices that lie out side of "volume" interest -- like an S5 or S6). I'm pretty optimistic.
The flip side is that life is so busy for me at the moment that it makes patience pretty easy (as in, if a stable cm13 suddenly became available I still would take my sweet time in getting around to flashing it). If I had more time on my hands it would probably be different.
Yes lets see how long we need to wait !
Can someone (hopefully a dev like @deadman96385, @EarlyMon @cyrusalmighty) confirm/agree that the Honor 5X's (I have KIW-24, US ver.) vendor = HONOR and codename = HNKIW-Q. I'm a little perplexed by what the codename is since HNKIW-Q doesn't seem right. I got that name from the build.prop ro.product.device like CM recommends.
Can anyone confirm that I have the vendor and codename right? Thanks.
EDIT: After looking at similar Huawei devices (Ascend Mate 2) it looks like the codename should just be "kiw". The Mate 2's actual ro.product.device = hwMT2LO3, but it's CM codename is "mt2." Because of this, I think for the CM codename should be "kiw". Does that sound right?

In theory but the kiw stands for kiwi this info is directly from Huawei and we all like Kiwi more lol. You also do have a L24 US variant

Thanks. So any custom ROM development for this device will be like Huawei/kiwi? I'm just wondering, because I'd like to know how I should be naming my files specific to Honor 5X ROM development.
EDIT:
Also, @deadman96385 do you mind sharing the partition sizes you used for building TWRP?
Name it kiwi .it sounds really great ! Moreover i dont what others are thinking on naming this device ,but kiwi is maximum minds .Go for it !

I didn't realize you had already started working on a CM port. I guess I can't really help out then. :/
Don't get me wrong, I do really appreciate all the work you do for this device.

Or any custom ROM? Just any ROM?
The source code was published on http://opensource.ztedevice.com/. Is it "too hard" to make ROM out of this? Can I do it without special skills, just following a tutorial?

+1 any provider T-mobile or metroPcs...
Any luck? I'm in need of this myself.
Me, too! (+1)
Please, will someone with a proper kit dump the ROM? I, uh... over-rooted mine. But all is not lost! I still can get to recovery mode and it has flashing options! (With device in OFF state, hold VOL. UP + POWER + HOME. Navigate to RECOVERY MODE with VOL. UP, then VOL. DN to select. The green "sick Android" logo with a "!" appears. Press VOL. UP + POWER for approx. 5 seconds, then release both simultaneously. This should display all the recovery options.) We would be eternally grateful, and I promise lots of :good:'s! Because really, let's be honest: we're all here because we want one of those nifty "SENIOR MEMBER" badges. When I get one, I'm gonna have it tatooed on my arm. (Everyone knows chicks dig rooting skills.) In the meantime, I'll be trying to learn how to compile the source code from the link another member posted above...
Hey you guys... Really need this too... any progress?
Any news???
i have it but? how do y get it out of the phone
help do that and there y will have it
thanks mark
I'm a little concerned with the compile effort after carefully reading ZTE's Open-Source policies... It seems the "ROM" download for the Z820 found on their website contains only the open-source portions of the firmware. Not only am I having difficulty getting a "good" download with my backwoods Internet connection (3 attempts-all bad,) I'm afraid after compiling that I'll only have a partial OS ROM. Does anyone skilled (read: not a junior member like me) know if there's proprietary first or third party code in most OEM stock ROM's? If so, would those portions be available online to download and place in the proper partitions? ZTE's very specific wording spooked me... I mean, I ain't scared to give 'er a go as-is, but I'm curious. The thing's just collecting dust now...

Now I'm curious. I might have the ability to grab this little device. Let me have a look at the source code first, get my bearings, and I'll see what I can find. I've got a lot going on, so I might need a reminder or two... Hope you guys like android forums though, that's where I tend to linger

Right, so I just found the sources. Downloading both the TMO and MPCS sources and will diff them tomorrow. That being said; they have only released the kernel source. Which is AMAZING considering, but not everything for a ROM. With this, I could make a custom ROM, figure out root (bootloader is covered luckily), and more! What I'm saying is; I'll give it a shot. I'll update this thread with developments as they come
I need this also!!!! PLEASE HELP ME!!! LOL THANK YOU!

Just to keep you guys informed; I tried downloading both of the sources and couldn't get their tar.gz to extract completely in Linux - meaning we're totally stuck and that's it.
Kidding.
E-mailed the guys over there and after a few days they finally got back to me letting me know the site was down for maintenance and to try again in a few days. Doesn't sound too promising, sure, but at least we know that we don't have to post a formal legal request like the guys over at the Fire Phone threads had to do. I'll get that source for ya.

FYI I already have a CWM Recovery compiled and ready to go for this device however thanks to Securelock and the 101 error any attempts at flashing via dd and no access to fastboot (tried zero'ing out the recovery partition to try to force bootloader) there is no way currently to flash to the device... I've already got a CM 12.1 build ported over also... Gonna work on a custom kernel next but only if we can get past this Securelock issue
I may be a junior member but trust I am a seasoned developer and have worked on roms such as the CM 10 port for the LG Optimus and F3 / F6.
BBQ Linux all the way!

We're fortunate to have your expertise, zerolath! That's why I love XDA! This thing's driving me nuts! It's the only 64-bit device I have until my Raspberry Pi 3 arrives, and I hate that I was careless and didn't back it up first! Rookie error. But I have learned: my LG Leon is backed up and well rooted! I had the same issue as crutchcorn did with the kernel source code DL. Got a unexpected zero bit at #### error with multiple DL's. I'm not experienced enough to attempt flashing just the kernel anyway. I hope there's a way around the SecureLock protection!
Back-up EVERYTHING. Compulsively! ?

Aye mate. XDA and programmer centric forums and such are pretty snazzy. Great place for people of all walks of life to learn, laugh, and grow.
I hope you can solve this... I too have this phone bricked at home, after flashing official update from ZTE...
Thank you so much for helping us!
