You can get remote commands learned with manual registration option.

The tablet has a learning feature but you need the remote....
Your best chance would be a UNI remote that can accept codes. Then you could use that to program the Tablet...
Would be somewhat redundant though

Coincidentally, I have a Mac as well and I use a program called Android Screencast. If your thunderbolt is rooted, you can control it with your computer. If it is not rooted, you will only be able to see the screen on your computer. This has worked on another phone I have used. Should work on any android.
If you're rooted you can download a VNC server for your phone, but I forget what it's called. Search for VNC server in the market
Thanks that is very usefull, I have rooted my phone and got vnc, remotemylc, logmein, and none of that seem to work. I could controll mg mac with ease not screen shoot my phone.

I don't think that you can control your phone from your pc but you can definitely control your pc from your phone. I have tested it myself. Just get TeamView from Playstore.:good:

Hi,
Do you know if there is a way to export the remote control codecs in sony tablet s and import these in sony tablet z?
Background:
I just got a new tablet and don't want to program all the configured remote controls again. So it would be great if anybody of you already had the problem and got it solved.
Thank you...
Bye

Assuming you are rooted on both devices, try titanium backup

Hi, I'm rooted on the Sony Tablet S and not on the Xperia Tablet Z because I don't want to risk the warranty to get void when rooting.
I have so many remote controls on the tablet s that I cannot reconfigure them in tablet z.
I thought hanybody of you already had this problem and got it solved. Perhaps it's already enough to know where the codes are stored...
Does anybody know?
Bye...

Hi,
Reading and out of curiosity, I've found that the data for the remote control is stored under "com.sony.nfx.app.irremoteservice".
Appears that Root is necessary. I can see it on a rooted tablet under 'sdcard/Android/Data' but not on mine (not rooted)
Hope this helps
:good:
You must have rooted tab. Copy DevicePreferences.xml file from /data/data/com.sony.nfx.irremote/shared_prefs
It should the solution but you can try titanium backup.

I will give it a try and compare the contents of both xml-files.
Unfortunately I have to wait until I can root my Tab Z because I upgraded to the latest OTA and a new/better rooting procedure needs to identified.
But your hint could be the solution! Thanks!

Because I can't find my receiver nor my TV on all Remote apps, nevertheless, Smart IR remote has an option for adding a custom command by entering the IR Code , thus I'm planning to do it manually.

The app "Peel smart remote" has both of your devices in it. Have you tried that particular app? And there is a way to "teach the app" your remote but not AFAIK the actual code.

You may try a VNC server service (for example droid VNC server) and a VNC client on your computer. I think this is the most reliable way.
Or apps like Android Screencast, Android Screen Monitor
Does it need internet connection??

You can also connect trough USB with ADB, but that sounds a too long way for a very straight forward process.
