[q] reinstall firmware - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am having SAMSUNG GALAXY S ADVANCE GT- I9070.
I have upgraded my OS to Jelly Bean 4.1.2, but I am encountering many problems like freezing of screen, high RAM usage, games not running as expected, etc.
I want to get this problem rectified by re-installing the firmware, but there is no option in SAMSUNG KIES showing Re- Install the firmware...
What should I do?? Is there any other way to get this problem rectified??
My phone is under warranty.

Try a factory reset. That could fix the random reboot issues. Also was your phone rooted, or on anything besides for the stock rom before upgrading?

[Q] Unwanted Information stuck on homescreen of SGS2 GT-I9100

Dear All,
My SGS2 GT-I9100 cannot be upgraded using Kies, it says firmware upgrade for this device is not supported. Currently my S2 is on Gingerbread. I manually updated to 4.0.4 using Odin but strangly there is this unwanted information stucked to the homescreen regarding my CSC and everything. Another user on this website also had the same problem and he posted a picture as well. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1876539)
I have done everything, flashed many different countries versions of android 4.0.4, cleared every memory, fixed the "/efs/imei/keystr" but in vain. The information is stucked there. However, when I flashed 4.0.3, the unwanted information was gone. Can anyone tell me why I can't use Kies to upgrade my phone or why is this information there? Any help with this guys?
Thanks
Yasir

Then stick with 4.0.3 and wait for official 4.1.2.

Hi,
I have posted the same problem and you can check the answers i got here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2097322&highlight=4+0+4
But actually I am a beginner and I found this hard to do.
Good Luck, and if you found an easy solution please tell me
We went thru this already, why make a new thread?
Brand new phones shouldn't freeze on its own just like that. Either it's faulty or there's something screwed with the ROM.
Here you can find 4.0.3 ROMs in order to avoid brick bug (remember to flash a safe kernel before you try it).

if its 4.1.2 stock firmware than it doesn't need factory reset, but i have seen some users having a boot loop while doing so and to remove the boot loop issue they have to factory reset and wipe cache partition. it would be better if u backup everything before you do this(recommended)..
Backup evrythng using titanium backup or a similar app and restore the data after flashing the 4.3 rom..

Kies will have the 4.3 update when it is released for your phone .

The firmware hasn't been released yet for all carriers in all regions.
You could download it and flash it, thought.

Normally upgrade to a higher version should retain user data, apps & contacts. few weeks before i upgraded from 4.1.2 to 4.3 without loosing anything. But always backup the required data is suggested.

One word of advice: the i9300 4.3 update is VERY laggy and full of battery drain bugs. I would remain on 4.1.2 if I were you until Samsung releases a refreshed S3 update.
This is why the update may not be available through Kies, they pulled it as soon as UK users started complaining.
Regards,
Person who wishes he never pressed "install" on the 4.3 OTA...
