[Q] using older versions of games - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi there
i am new and this is my first post but i have been reading threads on xda dev for a long time I have really learned a lot from u guys so thanks
soo , i have a question , is it possible to use older versions of applications and games when they already ask u to update to continue using the game like family farm currently is 1.9.4 , can i still use 1.9.3 or 1.9.2 ?? and sorry if i am posting in a wrong place cause i really dont know where i am lol

If they are not server/online-based, they could be cracked to run. But, I don't know Java, C, or any of them.

DOES DAT APP RUN ON DEVICES STILL ROCKIN 2.3?

I'm gonna stop you both right there. You guys are bordering on warez territory which is illegal on XDA

Not really. If it is freeware you could do it. But I would only do it if the software is open source.

[Q] Import online games into apps ?

You think we could ever play like runescape , adventure quest , neopets or any of those online games on to our phones to play besides on the computer ? Thanks
Well it depends.. flash games like adventurequest can be played on atrix, but im not going to say that its easy since they were made for a pc screen size. Runescape will not work since its made in java for web browsers and android still dont support it. The only way was the creators of those games create ports to android.
I hope it helps.
alrightt , thanks im def gonna try adventure quest right now and awh about runescape . but okay
Check the dev section. Someone has had runescape running on webtop !

WP7 possible on Android???

Hello,
Okay, so I know that people always ask, "why the h*** would you want windows phone 7 on an android phone?" But, I really like the simple UI, and I like the way the apps look and things like that, so with that said I have 2 questions:
1. Does a "WP7 rom" exist (like in the WP7 forums).
2. If so, is it remotely possible to even attempt to run it on an android phone?
I am just asking because the way I see it if WP7 can run on an HTC device, why could it not run on an ANDROID HTC device, with the rerouting of some software and things like that. I have a MyTouch 3G Slide (I know pretty old school) but I have already gotten it to do things that they said would not even be in the dreams of a MT3GS user! I am a novice software dev, but I am completely down to learn, 100% with no objections!
Thanks you guys,
Ognimnella

As far as i know, the only non-WP7 phone that can run WP7 is the aging HTC HD2. But i really don't know how far the development has come, so we may see some Android devices run WP7 in the future. Who knows! (Not me)
The wp7 rom is not open sourced so no devs try porting

So wait how have people been able to create WP7 like apps (Launcher7, Seven Calc, Photo Safari, WP7Contacts, etc.)

They rewrote the programs, these ports don't share source with the original wp7 versions. That's why the Android version of these programs work a bit different.

[Q] how to install dual os

I just saw my friend's i9100 had dual OS, android and IOS. How can I do that?
I'm pretty sure that isn't iOS, its MIUI. If he said it was iOS, now you have a good reason to punch him in the face

Absolutely*
There actually is a phone that you can get that dual boots Android and iOS, and we've seen that you can dual boot an iPhone with Android on it.
Neither of those are Galaxy S2 though, and if your friend has told you he's running iOS on a Galaxy S2 then he's either mistaken, pulling your leg or just flat out lying. It's not possible.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
Good question, though. Can you run two Android roms side by side? And can your apps and files remain unchanged no matter which you boot in to?

Do not quote me on it as I am not sure but I believe that DoomLord on the X10 forum did a dualboot thingy. He's a legend over there!

Dualboot on SGS2 vv check link in sig vv.
It's 2x Android though, no iOS (what even remotely sane person would want that anyways....).
I'm also puzzling on a small app to make the set up of the dualboot more easy, but it isn't done yet.
Sharing apps between boots should also be possible up to a certain extend....
Man this thing didn't even cross my mind. Would be a great way of using CM7 without having to give up on samsung camera and polaris office.
gokhanmoral is working on dual-booting for our phone. He already happen to make it to his phone and now have to find the way how it going to happen on others phones.
If I may, wth is the point of dual booting 2 androids??

For example, being able to run a samsung firmware based ROM and an AOSP ROM like CM7 on the same device. That way you can get the speed and smoothness of CM7 without loosing the samsung apps that can't run in CM7, like the camera or polaris office.
That is at least why I would be doing dual booting on my phone. I just used polaris office too much when I was on stock Samsung!

Never again !!!!!!

This is a questions forum you [email protected], "!!!!!" is not a question its a statement.
Titles are supposed to be descriptive of topic, not stupid crap like that.
CM didnt remove any of your apps you tit, its built from Android source code (AOSP) not Samsung rom.
I would advise you to get a iPhone as you cant even manage to string a sentence together correctly, never mind flash a Android device properly or appreciate its power.
Do you honestly think we give a sh*t about how ignorant you obviously are? Go play with your friends in the park.
What an ungrateful twat...these developers bring something special to Android. Like the post above said, get an iPhone and stop disrespecting developers that share there roms free. I was trapped on a GB phone and if it wasn't for them I'd of never experienced ICS or Google now.

-CyanogenMod ROM was not force on you in the first place
-You had the choice to stay on you stock Rom
-The developer(s) made this Rom available without any cost
-The fix bugs when reported as much as possible without any cost
-They provide us the fastest update ever, without any Cost
-They sacrifice their own time for us
-And yet, all you could post is this thrash!
This is simply unacceptable!
This user should be banned.. For real. Who's with me? Let's take a stand and stop this nonsense before it becomes another Facebook Site where people write **** you don't want to read. We should be so freaking thankful to even get a membership alltho we are not developers. Yet we can join and download everything and even write whatever we want to these developers.
Wish there was something called voteban or something, let the users ban out each or Something

Just because you couldn't get it to work doesn't mean its a bad rom/kernel/mod. Thread locked

Compatibily 2.3 programmed apk with 4.0/4.1?

Just a quick question I couldn't solve on myself, nor googling around. I'm starting to program on android, following your great tutorials [btw always great work guys ] and I was wondering: If I start programming an app for gingerbread, will it work on ICS or JB too or not? Cause I'd really like to see my first hello world on my gnex thanks in advance!
Well, I answer to myself xD I did it and my 2.3.3 hello world works on my 4.1 gnex. So that's okay. You can close the topic if you like.
