Here is a quick video I made to calibrate our Xperia Z Ultra proximity sensor. I have had some issues with my screen not turning on when pulling the device away from my ear. When I applied a screen protector it just wouldn't wake up my device at all.. This fixed it good :victory:
Useful indeed. I didn't have any issues with this but I did see people posting about their own.

You can only do so from old FTF. I think 4.4.2 was the last one to have it in
does 5.0 break playstation mobile app?
Im currently running it with android 4.4.4 . thanks for your help guys
After small deform of my C6833. I needed to calibrate the sensor.
Confirmed that it can be calibrate by fallback to 4.2.
And effective after restoring custom ROM / flashing stock 5.0 ftf
Better flash latest ftf after fallback, NFC firmware was changed.
I have sensor problem in my z ultra.
When I go through this solution but I didn't find any calibration option in it.
Please advise me

The calibrate Menu was last in Firmware 4.2.
You need to downgrade to that.
U can Use Xperia Flash Tool. Find an old Firmware and put in in the Folder at Flashtool.
Try this

That means, try this fix. It is meant for any GB-based ROMs.

Check this video ... hope developers will fix this ASAP ...
Note : You need an extra camera to see the Proximity light. Remember, you can't see this with open eyes ! Just like Infrared sensor.

sorry but you can't see anything, I cannot read any of those blurred text lines.
the best solution for this is either to stop using it temporarily or switch to aosp4.3/cm10.2. all those sensors that samsung added only drain more battery.

nevermind, just keep your eyes on the proximity sensor . It doesn't disappear after an incoming phone call !
anyway , how to stop that sensor permanently ?? it turned it off from > settings > call > turn off proximity sensor ! but still the light is visible ... it disappears after phone reboot !
ive noticed this as well
That's probably an air gestures thing.

Hmmm mine is always shutdown i guess....that purple color is new to me (from the vid)
If you display turns off when coming close to the sensor with your hand during a call, the sensor is active, you just can't see.
Some cameras can see the light, some don't. You can check with an it remote control from your TV!
David
have noticed how this is on. i was gonna go through each individual service running by the system and shut it down and see if it turns off. Its gotta be an APK or jar file doing it. Unless the kernel itself is for some weird reason.

I already turned off all sensors and installed several firmwares (omega ,arrow, wanam) and kernels ... but still ... it's so annoying
The proximity sensor requires 0,350mAh power. That's < 1% usage since we have 2600mAh battery I *think*....

So I guess you mean it takes 0.35mA.
So if you have a runtime of 15 hours, it takes 5.25mAh... really not that much.
David.

Yeah
omg on all world doesnt exist app which works on rooted phone and can kill proximity and gesture sensor???
The app Elixir say 0,75mah for my Samsung S4, but also 0,75mah for an original battery of 2600mah is few energy, 2600/0,75= 3467 hours.
Hello all Xperia Ultra lover I have tried and installed many exposed module and applications to get wake screen by volume keys without any success.
Even tried Keymapper to MOD default key configuration without any luck.:crying:.
Now just found really nice utility works with Exposed which wake the screen by volume buttons.
All credit goes to developer of this application. I am just sharing here so please thank him as well.
Using it since 4 days no any problem working like a charm.
You can download this module from here attached or you can download from download section of your xposed application.
After activating and rebooting just open application go to last menu other mod and activate volume screen wake reboot and you are done.:fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:
Great find. But does it work with JB as in xposed repo it says some features dont work on JB.
Currently I am using Auto screen on which automatically wakes the screen when I open the flip cover. So even my vol buttons are not prone to wear and tear
Nevertheless will give this a try too.

Hi guys,
i am on CM11 and the screenprotector is messing with the proximity sensor, i put it on to circumvent the ghosting of the digitizer, *#*#7378423#*#* menu is not working as the service menu is not on CM11.
I've tried looking for a solution but apparantly there is no apparant solution for this unfortunately, can somebody help with a manual calibration perhaps?
maybe someone knows the exact location of the proximity sensor so i can cut the screenprotector away from there.

you can flash a FTF (cant remember if 4.4.4 / .108 has proximity sensor calibration), calibrate the proximity sensor, then go bacck to CM, that seemed to fix the issues I was having

aahhh, that's just something i want to avoid, maybe i can extract the servicemenu.apk from a OEM rom and have that installed on the CM11, will look into this next week and will keep this thread updated.

Hi. Currently using a CM12.1 rom which has an option to turn of the charging/notification light in the settings. Does the Z2 lollipop have this?

You mean the stock ROM? If so, then no, it can't. Or at least not one that I know of... Maybe you'll have more luck with root...
Yep. Thanks. Never found an app for root that completely disabled it without exposed.
