Why cm 9 instead of cm10? Doesn't the stock kernel support jellybean?

We are all noobs, lol. We need to take baby steps first, we need to understand how everything is put together and operates before jumping into CM 10.1. Acutally I don't think 10.1 will run on our stock jellybean. The highest i think we can go to is CM 10.

Learn to code. That's the only way. Alternatively you could edit source codes.

Hey everyone, so my Dinc2 went to sht and I need to know is there any way to root my GF old fascy? I have has no luck finding the fresh links/if any.
All I find point to mega, and as we all know that's dead.
This phone has huge potential off stock, and I want to set it free.
Your help is appreciated.
Try droidstyle's guide. I'm on BAKED blackbean 8 (4.2.2) and it's just plain amazing.

You can't go wrong with most of the roms in the development section but I'd recommend trying CM10.1 first (found here: http://get.cm/?device=fascinatemtd) as it's the most consistent rom for the fascinate I've used

Lol that's the one I found, right after posting. So far I'm rooted however the steps to get to jb are not exactly working. Question 2 if im already stock couldnt I just install clockwork and flash a rom through it?

Well... section 6 deals with rooting from stock so that you can continue on...
That guide has all the answers...
Droidstyle did a through job
Flashing to 4.2 rom
If you want to take an easier jump into 4.2 rather than going through all the crap. Check out VegasRomeos shortcut Here. It works great and is simple.

Thanks guys for the help.

The Boost Mobile version of the Galaxy s2 has an official update to Android 4.1.2 Jellybean, is it possible to modify the tar file from that update package to be compatible with our AT&T SGH-i777 models?? The upgrade tool can be gotten from Samsung's website and then can be installed on the computer, during the install process it extracts the tar file update along with other needed stuff to install to the phone through Download Mode. I really hope this is possible as I would love to have a close-to-stock version of Android 4.1.2 Jellybean for our device, any help/feedback about this would be greatly appreciated...

This is the DEVELOPMENT forum. Not Q&A. Wrong forum. Plus, why would we want to use Boost's version off their S2, when we could grab 4.1.2 from the AOSP (already done) ? That makes no sense whatsoever.
Galaxy S2 (SGH-I777)
CM 9.1 (ICS)
UCLE5
AJK 1.49

To answer your question is because our device doesn't have an official update for Android 4.1.2 Jellybean, and this would be as close as we could get with some modifications to it, is it me or does it seem like people aren't interested in the question I asked, cause it seems like people are just being negative about it...

Considering the fact that the I9100 OFFICIAL ROM works just fine on our device, that's the closest you'll get.
Galaxy S2 (SGH-I777)

I just ordered my Xperia Tablet Z (should arrive tomorrow).
Here is my question:
I am aware that sony has released the Android 4.3 AOSP ROM. And its my understanding that they say its not fully functional and was released to boost development.
So, am I able to just install this ROM onto my tablet and run it as a pure vanilla android / nexus / google experience device? Or will I face problems?
Do I need to install one of the developer's roms instead (like CM or something else)?
Much appreciated guys!
Yes it would be vanilla android like is on Nexus devices, however.....
You will have to build it yourself, unless someone has posted a build that I missed, but Spent gives you explicit instructions on how to build it.
You will then have to unlock your boot loader, BEFORE YOU UNLOCK BACK UP YOUR TA PARTITION, and then flash the rom according to the instructions Sony gives.
There are significant issues with the 4.3 ROM, unless they've all been fixed by now which I highly doubt, and you probably wont have full functionality out of your tablet. If you want 4.3 that badly I would go with CM seeing as how they have everything working on 4.2.2 and 4.3 except for HDMI. It isn't the vanilla android experience but it is as close as you'll come and keep full, minus HDMI, functionality of your tablet.

Thanks! Your post was very helpful!
EDIT: Nevermind - found the CM version you are referring to!
THANKS

Hey guys,
I'm new to XDA and I'm looking to get my S4 to stock Android. I've been doing some digging and I'm not sure if I'm able to do so. I'm up to date on software my version o 4.3 with MK2 build. Does this mean I can't root it and run stock? If I can, can you guys point me to a step by step post on how to do this?

Don't think it's possible with your build. This thread is a good place to start-http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2606501 Good Luck.
You are on the latest update so you cannot exploit your bootloader. You are stuck with root and safestrap which only supports certain TW ROMs.
