Can't get TWRP manager to fully run please help. - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

I had rom manager and I deleted it. I am rooted. I have goo manager and twrp manager.
I have a 64gb micro sd card installed with folder mount managing 3 folders.
When I start TWRP manager and set up to backup to ext sd card and then start recovery
the s4 goes into clockwork mod 6036 and cannot write to the ext sd card.
I would like to use TWRP and not use clockwork mod which I thought would be gone when
I uninstalled rom manager. I can't figure out what to do next.

You need to install TWRP before being able to use the manager. Easiest way is open goo manager, tick menu, install open recovery script, confirm.
Just as a heads up tho, many users have had issues with TWRP beyond the 2.5.0.2 release. You can find a flashable version of it if the current version installed by Goo gives you any issues.

pc sees sd card but not seen in any recoery

while in any recovery be it fastboot android recovery or cwm when i try to install zip from sd card the internal card shows up not my external even with rom manager same thing .i know i did something wrong because it was worrking a few days ago
Did you update ROM Manager by chance? You ned to reflash CWM.
ROM Manager does not support ext-sd as of right now. You need to use RomRacer's CWM.

clockwork not reading ext-sd

I cant get clockwork recovery to see my ext-sd I did a factory reset now I cant restore (nandroid) because it was saved on the ext sd. when I select restore it says no files found. I put the sd card in my computer, sure enough all files are there. when I try to install a new rom, I select install zip form sd card...there isnt a selection for ext-sd. I adb pushed a zip to /sdcard to get a rom installed

Which version of cwm are you using? Maybe flash the most recent recovery again. I prefer romracers.

CWM SD Issue Please Help

I am trying to flash zip files from my SD card in cmw.. I go to choose zip from sd then after choose external_sd/ when i choose it, it does absolutely nothing( I hit the home button and it says no file exists but i know the files are there). I also manually mounted the SD... I was originally trying to do the fix speaker sound.. But due to the fact i could not get the sd to read, i did it from the internal memory. Now i cannot use my phone app at all it just crashes. I now want to flash a new rom on to fix the issue, but as i said i can't flash the zip from the SD. If anyone can give me some assistance it would be greatly appreciated.
For flashing Roms you ALWAYS put them on your sdcard WHICH IS THE INTERNAL UNREMOVEABLE SDCARD. Your external sdcard on Samsung roms is called external_SD and in cm7 it is called emmc. On stock based roms (Samsung roms) you will always have to put the files on the sdcard NOT the external removeable sdcard.

Sounds like you already have a rom installed. Which one? Or are you still on stock? If stock, you can't flash from stock 3e recovery.
Assuming you have CWM Recovery, put the flashable zip on the root of the internal sdcard *not* the external sdcard, and not in any directory. If your directory structure on the sdcard is fairly long, the files may be hidden at the bottom, and you will have to scroll down to see them. Use the vol+ button to scroll in the up direction is easiest. Then you should be able to install the rom by selecting "install zip from sdcard" and then "choose zip from sdcard". Do not use "choose zip from internal sdcard".
I am running a stock rom rooted.. I was falling a sleep while typing it.. I ment I was trying to choose the rom in CWM.. I saved the ROM on my external SD so i can try to pull the file and flash my phone to it.. What i am saying is when i go to pick the ZIP under in CWM i can't access it. As i wrote in my original post
If you have stock rom plus root by Entropy512, then the kernel is straight stock with 3e recovery, and you can not flash a rom from 3e recovery. You will need to install a kernel which contains ClockworkMod Recovery first. See the guide linked in my signature for detailed instructions on how to do that.
And go back and read both RockRatt's post and my previous post, to learn that you can not install a rom from the external sd card. And you should spend some time reading in general, so you have a basic understanding of what you are doing. And then do some more reading.
external sd

Why is it so difficult to put the zipfile on internal sdcard for flashing purposes,
then after flashing using a file manager simply move the zipfile to external sdcard?
Of course if you were using CWM Manager you would not have the
problem in the first place, CWM Manager (apk) can be downloaded
here: http://megaupload.com/?d=TGXMLL1G it is fully compatible with
CWM recovery but you do not need to go into recovery mode.
With this app you will have access to external sdcard with no problem.
It has most of the same options and features as you would see in Rom
Manager but it's fully compatible with our phones and flashable zipfile
roms, kernels, modems and mods. (it even installs apps )apk).
This is a perfect solution to backup and restore roms too.
(fully CWM compatible Nandroid with option to name the backup)
Check it out!

Rom Manager with CM7

Does this work on the Nook Tablet? Mine doesn't appear to function when I try to do a backup.
ROM Manager
I am using ROM manager on CM7 alpha12 without problems. I use it to boot to CWM recovery and back. I use TB and CWM for backup so I can't verify backup with ROM manager.

So you are saying that you did the newest CM7 upgrade and your CWM works without using a SDcard? When I try to do a backup in ROM Manager my tablet will reboot and then it comes up with a screen saying to power cycle again and if this don't fix it call B&N support
ROM manager
Correct - if I want to use CWM I just start THE RM app and select to reboot to recovery. The tablet reboots into cwm and I do what I need, for example, backup and repartition data and media then select to reboot to regular CM7 ROM w/o changing SD card.

Bummer Mine doesn't work and I have no idea how to fix it
I cant do a backup directly from ROM manager either.
BUT if you follow his directions and boot into CWM first, you can do a backup from there without a hitch.
If you want to name it yourself you need to go to the file in your file manager of choice, and change it there.
Can someone tell me where backups to internal storage are stored?
Thanks.
sdcard/clockworkmod/backup
I do believe you need a sd card for your backups.
It sounds like you do not have one, thats why you are not able to do a backup?
I have one and it creates a backup via internal. But when I try to backup to sd card, it tells me it failed to mount. So I backup via "internal storage." I can then go to restore and I see my backup from the internal there.
Dont have my tablet in front of me but it somehwere like: /mnt/emmc/clockworkmod/backup
You should find a clockwordmod in that general area if its like CM7 for other devices
You can manually mount and unmount your SDcard through clockwordmod as well. Have you tried to mount it manually before backing up
I just decided to try it again, booted into CWM and clicked "backup" and now its backing up to sd (free space showing as 30017MB, 32gb card so that makes sense).
Earlier when I tried manually mounting the sd card it was giving me an error (failed to mount). I have no idea what fixed it but its working now and I'm sure I'll be able to find the sdcard backup at the very least.
Thanks for your help.
The SD card doesnt always mount on its own in these devices. I HAVE noticed that..
Hell,it doent even want to mount with guidance, as you have just shown, and I have experienced as well..
Glad it worked this time..
sd mount
As has been noted in other threads, sometimes you have to take the card out and reinsert to get it to mount. I have had times when using the CWM menu option to mount sdcard failed. Turn the tablet over, click the card out and back in and it will mount

Definitely the case, but when in CWM it doesnt always mount even by ejecting and re-inserting the card.
At least from my experiences.

stuck in philz recovery.

so I wanted to try cm12. I did a nandroid of my current rom with twrp. I used flashify to install philz recovery. Here's where I went wrong, I should have done a backup using philz recovery first, instead I wiped system and data and realized philz recovery would not read my sdcard. (I do not have security encryption enabled) my nandroid backups were to my external sd card not my internal. I tried getting adb to connect from within philz recovery but that's a no go. might have a usb driver issue Philz file manager is not working also. any ideas for now. I do not want to flash back to stock as i havefiles on the internal sdcard I don't want to delete. i wasn't expecting this.
Can't you just flash cm12 and backup your internal files. You don't need adb with removable memory. Also, twrp will flash cm12
Edit: I mean format new SD card with recovery, place cm12 on it, flash. Than backup all your stuff and start over

This guy has the right idea. Just save what you can from your SD to your computer, then format your SD using Philz so it can read it. Then pop your SD back in the computer and copy your files over and just flash CM12 that way or restore your old ROM using Philz "TWRP" restore method (it actually does backups to and restores from the TWRP folder on either internal or external SD).
