[Q]Cannot update to Android 2.2 (US Version) - Xperia Tablet Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

:victory:I just got my Tablet Z and I couldn't get the 4.2.2 software update.
I tried using a Bridge for Mac and OTA but both didn't work.
Could anybody help me fix this? Thank you guys very much
Model: SGP351
Country: United States
Not supplied by a phone company, I bought it from a Sony Store directly. (Though met with incompatibility with AT&T's LTE network: full bar but no data whatsoever, both AT&T and Sony couldn't solve this.)

What do you mean by "didn't work"? What error do you see when connected via wifi? Are you using the update app provided in the app drawer?

Both the tablet and the bridge for Mac says "Software up to date". But the Android version is still 4.1.2
I've tried using the PC Xperia Suite but didn't work either, same situation

As of Sept. 23 - No update to 4.22. has been released for your Tablet version.
See this thread to meet up with others waiting for an update. There may be other pertinent threads, try using the forum search functions.

Yes I have the same model and waiting on the update also.
You would think Sony would of gotten it out sooner for the US model.

I am also waiting for 4.2.2 in India.

Anyone have any word when the USA LTE model will be updated to 4.2.2?

[Q] Model info - no update to 2.1

Hi, I live in middle east but I have an X10i from Sweden brand 3, and as far as I know the update to 2.1 is rolling to this model, but I'm not getting any update notification and when I try to connect my phone to the PC companion It keeps telling me that my phone has the latest firmware.
Does the country where I'm living affect the update process ?

[Q] sony companion software shows that update available

I flashed my x10 to android 2.1. After doing that when i connect my phone and use Sony's PC Companion software then the software brings up a message which says "there is an update available" and asks for me to update. I am on AT&T in USA and i know that AT&T has not released any 2.1 update for x10 yet. So what update is PC companion giving me???
Any ideas????
is you phonw branded?
have you used MT toolkit??
maybe any of those are the reasons, also in which fw are you?
why don't you try updating it?

Once you flash to 2.1 you are not affected by ATT update releases. That update is just to remove root. Hopefully you haven't updated already
Also, use the SEARCH button
new update!!!
I just received a notification on my phone about a new software update. Is this the official Multitouch update we have been waiting for from SE or is it a false alarm?
I am on AT&T
I believe it's a false alarm, you won't get the MT.
it was not a false alarm for me. I got multi touch on my phone after i ran the update. Now my phone shows 2.1.A.0.435...
now when you solved the problem, please add this : ''[SOLVED]'' to your thread name.

[Q] Firmware availability in UK

I got the 'SIM free' version of the phone, because I thought this would avoid those awful 'carrier delays'
I have tried the update several times (PC support) but just get 'your firmware is up to date' - yet I am still on 17.1.A.2.55 (yet 17.1.1.A.0.402 has been released for a couple of weeks).
How can I tell when it's available (other-than keep trying 'PC support') ?

My Z2 is locked to EE but even they released the update last week. Really surprised the sim free version hasn't been released in the UK yet.
It is getting a bit silly, most in the UK are still stuck on .55 but there has been .69 & now .402 Maybe they are doing it the way samsung do updates in that it the carrier branded ones that get the update first then unbranded.

It seem like there's another firmware update coming soon, updating to 17.1.2.A.0.189. No sure who'll be getting it though :fingers-crossed:

Hey peeps I took this from Sony UK support site:
Latest available software
You may already have the latest software, depending on the date of purchase. Software updates are released at different times depending on operator and/or country. Therefore, we cannot give you an exact date for when a specific update will be available for your device.
Android version: Google Android 4.4 (Kitkat)
Latest available software: 17.1.1.A.0.402
Release started: 2014-05-23
To find your device’s current software version:
Settings > About phone > Build number / version
SO it seems that .402 is available in the UK.
Hope this helps :good:

Just checked and now available for O2.

I imagine they release staggered and cover the largest number of customers at once, namely carrier phones. SIM free probably accounts for the least stock out in people's hands.

What am i doing Wrong?

Hello guys, i Recently bought an at&t Alpha G850A used phone in Pakistand. Everything is perfect except its not updating when i go to about device section BUILD NUMBER is KTU84P.G850AUCU1ANH8 Whereas at&t has released an update for this phone which is BUILD NUMBER G850AUCU1ANL1. When i try to update it searches for the update for some time and then says update interrupted there is no new update for your device try again in 24 hours.
Q1) Is it because i am using it on MOBILINK NETWORK (Its a local network in pakistan) ? do i have to be on at&t sim to update?
Q2) Is there anyway i can update it manually?
*note i have already tried updating after factory reset.
Any help will be appreciated.

Try to update it via Kies or download it from http://sammobile.com and flash it via ODIN. Are you connected to any wi-fi network when you try to download the firmware or just cellular data?

I have tried Kies it says this is the latest software available whereas i know it is not.
2) I have tried both, wifi and cellular.
There are no firmwares for ALPHA SM-G850A on sam mobile........at&t variant has TERRIBLE support and no root yet. There was a guy who posted a possible root exploit here but nobody bothered so my guess is this device will soon be joining the list of those phones who were never rooted.

Just a ideea....why don`t u flash the phone with SM-G850F firmware?
is it safe to do so? woudnt it brick the phone as the processors are different
Do not flash 850F firmware on 850A, there is too much diference between hardware in those phones. You will brick your phone!
Your phone is similar to :
SM-G850W for Canada
SM-G8508S for East & Southeast Asia
So maybe you can try to find can you flash software for those models...
Can anyone please confirm if i can flash the firmwares of SM-G850W for Canada or SM-G8508S on SM-G850A ?

Why do I think your numbers is wrong. I see that you missed something out of numbers? Numbers should be eight digit, like XXXX-XXXX for example.
Your numbers maybe is 1293-7740, Saudi Arabia.
The update on Android 6.0.1 with compilation 26.3.B.0.131 is available and should have received it.
Via computer or over your phone check for updates?

Yes ! you are correct that's the correct number.I'am sorry I have made a mistake.
The CDA is correct but the build number is wrong as the Saudi Arabia one ends with R6C where as my no. ends with R6A.
Will it be compatible with mine?
I can send you a screenshot of my service menu if you give me your email address
BTW I'am really grateful to you!
@Thisura, That your current software ends with other initials, does not mean that the new can not be with others initials. This shows the new revision of software so that it is not a problem.
I asked if and how you try to update? Via PC or over the phone. Still no notice of the update is available if you attach your phone to the computer with Pc Companion program?

Hi!,
Before flashing using the Xperifirm, I just did a software repair on the PC Companion and voila! the Marshmallow update was installed on it without the lollipop one!
Again, many thanks for your response and I think the users who haven't received the Marshmallow just try this method i'am sure it will work for you as well!
