Hi
Bought a Nokia 920 in the UK about 3 Months ago it was on the Orange/EE Network. I was moving to South Africa so had the Phone unlocked
When I first arrived I put a Vodacom Sim in the Phone which worked ok but was dropping some calls so changed the 4G to 3G in the menu. That seemed to work, recently upgraded to Amber and i think that's where the problem has started again. If i phone a South African sim call goes through. If I phone my wifes phone iPhone 4s with Vodacom sim call drops, strange thing is it puts a 44 in front of the number when I'm dialling through and displays a message about International assistance activated ? Now if i put 27 dropping the first 0 on the Number it dials and connects.
I'm wondering if the Phone wants to pass the call through the UK before it connects
Any help would be most welcome
Regards
ian

deactivate international assist from settings -> applications -> phone and try how it'll dial
Also check what country/region you configure in menu language+region in settings - I suppose you should use South Africa.

Hi
Thanks for the Info. Checked the region it was set to UK. Think the Amber update might have reset it to that as it was originally a UK phone
can now call SA numbers without adding 27 in front. Checked my wife's iPhone which is also from the UK had iOS7 update which also reverted her settings to UK.
Thanks again

I have the same problem, today i rang samsung uk to confirm the phone was good for uk and they did confirm it was a uk phone and they suggested that i ring various network providers to check the imei against their database, after spending a long time talking to various support teams in "lost or stolen " i ended up with all the networks saying phone was not known on their network as lost or barred so now i am in the same boat as you, mine has jb 412 installed.
Hello,
I bought this phone in Malaysia @ Lowyat PLaza.. Paid RM1099.. The Hyundai Multicav Q5L+ has good features & worked Ok in MY using the MY SIMs but when I moved to India (Chennai) it stopped working. When I put my India SIM (Vodafone) and the MY SIM - Tunetalk (it's a dual SIM phone) neither of the network signals seems to pick up. Note, the phone does display that its a Vodafone SIM, Tunetalk SIM etc. but no signal and there is a "cross" displayed next to the signal bar. I tried selecting the network manually but that didn't help. When I contacted the MY vendor (who sold me the phone) he said something about the IMEI range registered on the phone being different than the one in India and hence the phone needs to be patched. Apparently it can be done by some of the service center shops locally. When I went to a few of them, they took a look and couldn't figure out how to fix it for this brand of phone. Note, both the SIMs (incld the MY one which is on roaming) work perfectly well with my old phone which I had purchased in India. So nothing wrong with the SIM cards or the networks in general but something to do with this phone. Any help will be appreciated.
Hi All
Recently bought a lovely new unlocked V10 (H901) from AliExpress for £78.
Before buying I did check that it operated on ALL the 2/3/4G bands that Plusnet use - the same as EE.
On inserting the plusnet sim it refuses to register on the 4G network. It has joined the 3G network a couple of times and made calls/texts but then loses connection again.
Spoken to Plusnet and EE but no joy.
Any ideas before I limit my losses and sell it on Ebay?
SOLVED!
Got into the hidden/service menu menu by using *#546368#*901#
Saw loads of stuff that I didn't understand but found one option about connecting automatically to networks that was switched "off" so I set it to "on".
Hey presto! When I came back out the phone registered on the network straight away and works fine on 4G for data too.

Is your's the H901? If not you'll need a different ending to the code that matches your model number.
I've a problem with my new Honor 8. I have a Vodafone contract SIM in slot 1 and when I went abroad to St Lucia I bought a local SIM (flow) for slot 2 and switched over to activate that in the settings. A Simple process i have not done before on this phone but have on my previous Motorola Moto G4. The problem is the only network the phone could see was the other carrier on the island (Digicel) who Vodafone use if I used world traveler plus at £6 a day. The SIM worked fine in my friends Samsung J4 so the SIM was OK. I tried the Flow SIM in SIM1 and it still didn't work.? again it detected the Digicel network but not flow? I tried auto search and manual search?. Actuated roaming and mobile data. Re-started the phone countless times. It's like the phone is behaving as if it's locked for Vodafone only (which is what the guys in the flow shop said?) but I bought the phone from Huawei direct through Amazon as unlocked?
It should be simple and straightforward?. I've checked and re-checked the settings many times
Any ideas?
Hi,
I'm in South Africa and I bought a SM-G991U1 (US unlocked version) on Amazon Renewed and everything works fine except for mobile connectivity.
I get the "Your phone's not registered on a network" message if I try to make a call and mobile data does not work.
I've tried:
- Resetting network settings
- Manually setting APN details
- Tried a few other SIMs from different carriers as well that work in other phones
- Checked IMEI info, doesn't seem corrupted or 'null'
I suspect that the modem firmware or something else is region specific to the US on this model and not working on South African networks as the phone does support our network bands according to GSMarena.
Would it be possible to re-flash the modem firmware or fix the issue some other way?
Hello I'm having the same problem, have you find any info about it?
Not much, I went to a carrier store and the phone seemed to work alright there after rebooting the phone with the sim card installed. I am starting to suspect that the phone doesn't like my closest cell tower maybe? Or possibly doesn't like using another carrier's mobile tower?
No idea.
I've since bought an identical but South African version of the same S21 which works flawlessly.
As a quick rant for anyone considering buying from Amazon: I tried to return the phone, shipping it back to the US and everything, only for Amazon to refuse to pay the import duties on it once it arrived, forcing DHL send it right back and charging me for it again
