Blank IMEI after latest CM10.1.3 stable - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just flashed the latest stable 10.1.3 from CyanogenMod (released September 23) and now my IMEI is blank. Is there any way for me to restore it? I stupidly do not have a backup of the efs folder. When I check the efs folder now, it's empty. Is there anything I can do? Any help is appreciated.

Try this.maybe it could help.
Take out your provider card.Boot the Rom without it.then turn it off and put the provider card in. Boot your rom now.Is your imei back?

I tried this on mine when my IMEI number was changed by a rom. It didn't work for that. I reflashed to stock and mine came back. Can't get a back-up because it won't stay rooted same reason I can't restore it with Titanium. I started a thread on that issue.

I don't think titanium does imei... Reboot to stock or restoring an efs folder backup are the only ways I know how to restore an imei

Flash to stock with Odin. Get cwm recovery from the essential hard to find files thread in Dev section. Then flash cm7.2.0 backup imei from cm7 then flash to what ever ROM you want

You were correct. Titanium restores Android ID. It had been a while and had forgotten what is corrected by Titanium. Thanks clicked.

I used SOC, got root to stick, was able to load RemICS without IMEI changing. Thanks clicked.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I was at work when it happened, so I kind of panicked, lol. When I got home I flashed the stock image with Odin and now it's working fine. But I have since made a backup of the efs folder so I can just restore the folder if it ever happens again. You always learn the hard way, lol.

I believe if you restore this, you will remain rooted. I had rooted through z4root. Your recovery will also be intact. After restoring you can try to unroot if you wish via z4root.

How to restore this thru amonra? I place it inside nandroid folder, when i select ORIG-CLEAN-NAND-BACKUP, it shows all the files inside it not restoring.
[Q]-I have to unzip CLEAN-NAND-BACKUP.zip right? I miss stockrom.
Are these just the contents of the NAND backup zipped or was this created through a separate tool?
On a different but slightly similar note, does anyone have a link to the V10G stock ROM that can be flashed via KDZ?

Yeah. Unzip it. You will have a folder named "CLEAN-NAND-BACKUP".
Put this folder under sdcard/nandroid/mem=471M
Then you can go to recovery and do the usual thing.

This nand backup can be restored only via amonra. So flash amonra first.

This is flashable with Clockwork. All you have to do is rebuild this as a "rom" from the kitchen.
This, of course, takes a little more time than flashing another recovery image. It's just that I feel uncomfortable with flashing and reflashing something so important (recoveries).
could anyone give me baltics nand ?

Flashing custom ROM kills EFS

I have problem with flashing, bought sgs2 today, wanted to make flash custom rom, phone is rooted with Doomlord exploit and there is cf root kernel flashed for cwm access (flashed via odin mobile), no simlock
When I flash any custom rom, phone apk keeps crashing, there is no cellular network and no IMEI in About the Phone section. I have tried restoring IMEI with EFS pro but after reboot its the same problem. I have EFS backup and nandroid backup.
What is wrong, I have two other phones, sgs2 and note, I didn't have those problems before, what is wrong this time? Any help will be great for me, I would appreciate ideas.
Is your phone plugged in to the wall charger or a USB port.
I used a custom ROM that would not allow me to reboot plugged in. Same problems as you.
When I reboot unplugged, service returns.

I'm aware of this problem, happend to me before, but unplugging doesn't help in that case. When I delete nv_data.bin and nv_data.bin.md5 it helps instantly but returns after reboot.
I have nv_data.bak in this folder and its some old file, like 2010 old, should I deleted it or something?
solved with wipe, which gave me random IMEI then restored right one with EFS Pro (thanks a lot for Dev Team of that app)
I keep reading about people loosing their ime after a flash but never bothered to remember if the flash was via CWM or Odin.
This might already have been investigated and I've missed it but it would be nice to know if anyone has lost their ime using Odin or if it's only through CWM.
This looks like it's happening more and more so it would be good to find out the cause.

How do I revert to complete stock?

I have galaxy sii GT-I9100 and I want to revert back to stock so i can cleanly install the new RR rom. Any help would be awesome. I was quite knowledgable with my old samsung infuse 4g, but this phone is a lot more complex than that one so please simple terms if possible
If you go to samfirmware download your desired rom then flash it in odin via the PDA section. This will return your phone to stock, but you will loose root. All the best.

If want to flash Reccuriton remix rom on ur s2 just root ur cell first than just install it from CMW there is no need to go complete stock for that...but if u r totally new to this after rooting make a BACKUP OF EFS first than start playing with roms.
Just flash stock firmware...... Download from sammobile.com samsung-update ....

If you want a fresh start just format system whilst performing your wipes. Only do this with a safe kernel as anything based on stock 4.0.4 will brick your phone. When I ever change ROMs I just run wipes and format system then flash my chosen rom. That is the correct site and you can flash any rom for your phone regardless of region. EFS back up is a separate tool which you download on to your pc which then backs up the EFS folder. There are other apps that do this too. I use them all, can never have too many copies of it.

So if I just do all the wipes, it should be all good? There is a lot of files that I don't want if they don't belong to my rom, should I delete some or what should I do? The basic thing I am trying to do is only have files from apps that I have and ones that the rom needs.

I understand what you're after factory reset, wipe dalvik and format system will give you a clean installation in terms of rom. If it's a complete wipe you can wipe the sd card from setting /backup and reset. But this will wipe music photos too. Once rooted you can always browse the directories and manually delete any unwanted files/folders. Please check your kernel first.

I've had similar problem when I was a bit happy at flashing. I went from RR 2.6.1 to cm 10 jb and lost my unlock now when ever I reboot I have too re unlock. I've still not found a solution and can't restore my nv backup as it always says permissions wrong.using astro
Byani v3 jb siyah 4.1.
How to stock > custom rom > 100% same stock?
Hello,
did not want to start new thread with same name, but my question a little different.
So I bought S2 and I would like to play with some custom ROM of course. Not my first Android phone, but new phone new unknown things.
I read many post, but it is still not clear if I can make my stock rom and kernel backup, then root it, have some fun and if I need just restore stock rom and kernel and every thing would be as it was new?
I understand how to root and this CF-Root in Stock Recovery method looks like can do this. But will it be that way?
For example, with this method I have my stock kernel backup, also make stock rom backup, install some custom ROMs/kernels and later just install stock rom and restore stock kernel using this method and I am back to starting point?
Hi, to return your phone to stock all you need to do is:
Make note of your current ROM and download the same from samfirmware
Download Odin
Perform full wipes and format system in recovery mode
Then into download mode where you flash the stock ROM in the PDA section of doing.
Included will be a stock kernel and root would have been lost.
To reset binary counter look at the app triangle away by chain fire.
All the best.

To restore a back up:
Boot into recovery mode
In recovery mode enter back up and restored menu
Then select restore from external memory / sd card
Phone will restore to the time the back up was made.
Some kernels have different CWM menu layouts but the above should get you to the Nandroid backup you made.
All the best

I hope you didn`t mess up your EFS folder, did you back it up? If the EFS folder is corrupted/wiped and you cannot restore it you need to take the device in for repair.
Do you have the correct APN settings in settings, mobile networks?

I haven`t done it yet myself, so i`am not 100% sure on how to do it. Don`t want to get you into trouble by saying the wrong thing though,. There is an option in the S3 Toolkit to restore a efs folder i think. Download the S3 Toolkit by Mskip and read it well and try it or wait for someone else who knows more about this stuff. There are also various tools like for instance K-Tool by hellcat that can backup/restore efs folders. Good luck
get the philz touch cwm recovery
get into recovery mode
go into advance, restore efs backup
done

On tw Roms I can't use phone at all only aosp

I've done something that I haven't been able to remedy yet and it had made it so no matter what touchwiz ROM I use the phone app won't even open and getting a call reboots or locks up the phone. I have successfully installed AICP and all is working. Any ideas what I've done? Boot loader is mdk.

I'm just guessing here but did you anything that would've touched your efs folder? If you've made an efs backup (or a full backup, they usually include efs by default) I would suggest restoring it

When this first happened I restored a backup I had from Hyperdrive Rls 15 (tw rom) and everything was there however the phone didn't work. I just ran through a tutorial of backing up and restoring my efs folder using terminal emulator and the results i got were the same on the video so I believe that to be in order.
I did flash one file which could possibly have caused this but if so I'm not sure how to reverse it. It was an NC2 WIFI fix after trying to install gdux v2.0

So personally when there's a problem I can't fix, I use odin to start my phone over. If I were you I would flash the full wipe tar that matches my boot loader. It's up to you though. That's a totally fresh stock start so you have redo root and everything.
I would also suggest PMing surge1223 and jkruse if you really can't lose the data on your phone and don't wanna go through Odin. Keep in mind they're both very busy.

Thank you for the advice I will probably end up using Odin as this seems to be a unique situation
