Is anyone else having issues lately with their GPS lately? I'm having times where it takes >3 minutes to get a fix, whereas I used to get a fix in <15 seconds. And even when I get a fix, it's not very strong. I've tried the modification for the gps.conf file, but that hasn't helped.
This seems to be a problem that crops up occasionally on the I777. It also seems to be independent of firmware. Usually rebooting the phone will clear the problem, at least temporarily.
So, a couple of questions.
First, if you can, go back to the original gps.config.
If you reboot, can you get a quick lock immediately afterwards?
What firmware are you running? Stock un-rooted, stock rooted, or custom rom?

Click to collapse
So I guess that would be the problem.

Any replies/leads on fixing the GPS issue?
So basically, noone with a solid reply on the GPS fix. Sure it is a known problem then that means dont use newer versions of Cyanogenmod or dont use it at all if you want to also be able to use GPS?
I have downloaded all possible programs to help with the GPS and I still I am only able to get signal by using WiFi (so basically just with cell phone towers).
Anyone with a solid idea on how to fix this?
thanks again

Hi all
I have installed both AOKP build 4 and CM10 nightly Jelly Bean on my Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300. Unfortunately, in both ROM, the WIFI works but very unstable. It dropped after 10 mins or after the phone went to sleep for a while. I have tried a few methods to work around including the *#0011# trick, reflash to stock, turn on wifi then reflash JB. There are only two methods that work. First, using WifiFixer which is an app that can be downloaded from Google Play Store. And the other is to install Siyah kernel latest version (1.7b4) which has updated Wifi driver. Hope this helps
hello .. im using the omega rom for my galaxy s3 international. i was on v.44 with no problems ... and update it to v45 i made a full wipe .. and since i update.. i am facing a sever freezes issues.. i need to remove the battery every 5-10 minutes... any suggestions ??
Best roll back to the version that worked and contact your ROM chef for help.
Try the Perseus kernel. *usually* these freezes are due to SDS fix. Even though you have V2 of this fix, Perseus uses a completely different fix which may help better.
also, read the "ultimate unusual freezing" thread in General
v45 is 4.2.2 so maybe u did not wipe properly.
And also hope u do not install perseus before changing your rom to v44. Perseus is not built for 4.2.2.
Hi Experts
I have i9100g with neatrom. I also wants to use custom rom because stock rom is very heavy and has lots of default service/process running
which makes device sluggis.
My problem is my GPS doesnt lock on custom AOSP roms. I have tried many version on CM from 9 to latest 11, Slim roms, MIUI, PA etc. GPS doesnt work
on any of them. The only custom rom on which my GPS works is OMNI ROM but problem is on OMNI rom also GPS takes very long time 5-10 minutes to lock
and many times doesnt lock at all.
using stock rom or neat rom GPS works like charm and lock time is around 10 sec without fail.
I heard some of the nightly builds of CM has this problem fixed but i couldnt find any. I have tried flashing a lots of roms.
Can somebody please let me know which version has this fix or is there any way to fix this issue?
I have tried all faster GPS kind of app on play store but didnt help. changing NTP server also didnt work.
I have read all the post related to this issue but coudn't find the solution.
PLEASE SOMEBODY HEAP....THIS GPS PROBLEM IS KILLING ME....NO MONEY FOR NEW PHONE
Thanks

Hello everyone. I've tried many modems (XXLS8, NELP4, XXKI4, BVLP7 etc.) but each of them had some different issue. First was loosing network, with second the front speaker stopped working, with some I wasn't able to hang up the phone - the red button only minimize "the call" to status bar... Just noone worked fine :\ I don't know what to do yet! Any advices, does RIL have to match with modem? (I have CM 10.1.3 stable)
I've had these issues when I've accedently flashed Samsung modems on CM ROM. If you're on CM or AOKP type ROM - reflash the ROM to get the default modem back. Don't flash other modems unless you're 100% sure it's made for non-stock ROMs.
Hey, I also had some issues tried more than 5 different modems that were supposed to be good and none worked. But then i started to go through all of the modems that are linked on the cyanogenmod wiki site for the i9100 and the 4 one solved it.
i think you should just keep on trying different modems. If you have issues with all 12, you can start looking somwhere else. Also don't touch the ril its apparently not a good idea.
Hello everyone! I have recently install the CM12 ROM for my galaxy light and everything seems to be working. The only major issue is that the calling doesn't work. Does anyone know how to fix this or where i go into the files of the ROM to fix it? Thanks for your time.
Because CM12 is still in "nightly" stages that also means it is not stable and there is no direct support. There will be bugs and the only thing you can do is either flash the latest nightlies and hope it works or flash a completely different rom. Fixing calling is not something you can do on your phone.
Thank you
