After the latest OTA push here in USA on AT&T network, I noticed pen and pencils weren't registering well on my screen.
So I purchased a bluetooth Spen from samsung (seen here ------>) http://www.engadget.com/2012/08/15/s...-pen-hands-on/
Removed the tip, cut a 3.5mm headphone male cable with attached metal male part. hacked and cut up the ends of a plastic pen to fit the headphone male metal through. Fit it into the Spen, and now I have pen that can take bluetooth calls.
I recommend watching the ENTIRE video before posting your questions though.
Enjoy.
That's pretty cool, Inspector Gadget!

I wanted to update this thread stating that so far all is working well still. And I'm running a rom as well and rooted and still working fine.

I've done all the searching I can and the only thing that I've been able to find are requests for this type of functionality, but no apps to provide it. Would anyone be interested in developing an app/service that would recognize the event of putting the phone into a holster with magnetic clip and trigger a lock screen? Conversely, the app/service would notice removal from holster and unlock screen.
This is a function of some blackberry devices and has got to be the thing I miss the most after switching over.
Would be pretty much impposblie since the blackberries have a magnetic switch built in

yeah, i believe the only magnetic device in the phone is for dock recognition and no holsters are designed to interact with that.
Yeah I had read in some other threads about android phones confusing holsters for docks and was hoping that you could capture that magnetic trigger and tell the phone to lock screen.

incorrect, the atrix unlike droidx uses software, and hdmi plus extra events to trigger docks and appropriate modes not magnets
Yup. No magnets in Atrix. Proximity sensor could probably work for this purpose???

try killswitch. it is made for tablets and phones. that might work for you as it uses several different sensors to work.

I was thinking something along the lines of the new iPad locking and unlocking when covered. Could something like this be pulled off on the Atrix?

That functionality doesn't come from a proximity sensor, it comes from magnets placed in the covers as well as the front of the iPad.

Thanks, accelerometer works to lock screen when the phone is face down but the proximity and light sensors don't seem to be very responsive at all.
Will someone with HTC official HC confirm for me that "PDF Viewer", "Gallery", and "Notes" all work with the pen like they did prior to HC?
I use "Gallery" and "PDF Viewer" a lot at work and if the digital pen no longer works then I won't upgrade.
Tried searching the forums and youtube to no avail.
thanks.

Sketchbook Pro is amazing on the flyer. Pen pressure support = win.
I spent a good while familiarising myself with all the threads about the differences between GB and HC, finally took the plunge and updated to HC. I really needed the stylus to work... And it does! The pen Sense UI is activated by clicking on the hardware button bottom right, which now shows a menu of options to take a screenshot, use notes, or open the pen options menu.
The Flyer feels like it now behaves like it always should have done.

better pen drawing by cloth
Hi all, I found that if wrap the pen's nipple with a small piece of cloth. it helps a lot better perfomance of the pen. Let's try with this trick and have fun in smooth draw on SBM.
I really have enjoyed the pen but when I changed to a new battery (energizer), I found the pen to be way too sensitive. Draws when you are a couple mm from the screen. Anyone else experience this. I put the old energizer battery back in and all is well.

Sounded interesting so tried it, but it made pen make marks even when not touching the screen; too sensitive, like Ishman mentioned with a fully charged energizer battery. Maybe it's the type of cloth I used, with too much synthetic material in it. What did you use?

Maybe just me, but it feels much more "well-built".
The battery back door is much harder and stiffer than the flimsy original black one.
Also the batter back door is smooth, I personally like the feel better when compared to the textured original battery door.

Yes it is glossy and looks really nice in the sun
Oh sorry, my bad. That was just my way of testing the power button without turning off the screen haha.
No the power button and volume keys don't stick at all.
EDIT: Oh I see what you mean. You mean the part when I test the volume button, a menu pops up in the back right?
That is because I use the AudioManager app and when I press the volume buttons, a menu pops up that asks me if I want to change sound profile
It is not the power menu.

Well... I love my phone. I don't know what to say, I mean, I just do! I've been thinking about it and it's like.. why are we so specpical and specific? That's why we loose the technological battle.. we are too specific and detailed. I mean sure there is a microscopic fraction of a pixel that is dark on dead center of my screen and there is a slight gap on the top between the speaker grill and the white rim, but so? We bonded tonight. Don't discriminate again this amazing phone because of such small things that might be strange or slightly f'ed up, because overall, it's the most advanced and speedy pocket cellular device available in the universe.

You know what made me REALLY love this phone? This morning when I wanted to turn the TV on to watch the news and the remotes were all the way on my computer desk. I picked up my phone and turn the TV on and got my news fix.
This phone is awesome! :good:
I love your phone too.. Can I have it?!? I could always use a spare. lol
I wish I had a chance to check out the remote control features but I don't ever watch TV on a real TV anymore in real-time. I always watch shows on 1channel or tvmuse. I use an app called unified remote to control pretty much everything on my computer. Spotify, Youtube, Netflix even use it as a mouse and keyboard if your laptop isn't on your lap but close by

That was how I've used my previous devices...man was I excited to see the reintroduction of IR though. With 4 kids, remotes are misplaced (or hidden) on an hourly basis, so it's nice to have complete control in my pocket TBH I loved my phone before I even met it... it sleeps closer to me than my wife now
I wish I could love mine.. First phone had a gap I could fit my thumb nail in.. replacement has 8 stuck white pixels, some brighter then others so I'm sure it's like 30 stuck pixels. Thinking about an s4 now

Luckily, you don't need to watch much TV to enjoy the remote control. Just visit a local watering hole or restaurant and enjoy the sheer comedy of watching their employees figure out why the TV's keep turning on and off. :highfive:

I have to try some more applications, but I tried roller coaster, and you say, wow ... nice app that make you see the video by way of film ... where you can turn your head always having the screen in place ..

archos VR headset
I bought the Archos VR headset a few weeks ago for my LG G3 (d855) and I must admit I'm really impressed by the build quality. The cracking sound when opening the headset is kinda Scarry at first but you seem to get used to it. The phone fits inside very nice although I once almost dropped my phone when it slides out while using. Seems I didn't closed enough or so.
For apps, sometimes you find great content. Sometimes not. Viewing video is nice and the turning with the gyroscope works very well. The only downside of this headset is the lack of a magnetic button like other cardboard headsets. You're able to input while gaming with a game controller or a Bluetooth mouse.
For €15 this was a great buy and I'm very happy with it although the lack of really intensive content makes it more a party trick than a daily toy.
Does anybody know of a controller that works with G3. Its kinda difficult to navigate phone if it in headset. Im buying my G3 tomorrow.

For the moment I use a bluetooth mouse but that isn't really perfect when in the split view mode. I think it mostly depends on the dev to build in controller support..
Colorcross is a decent headset vor the G3, large adjustable lenses, even the distance between your eyes. It fits just about any phone. Leaves top and/or bottom connections (usb, aux) free might you wanna connect something to it.
I've brought simple cardboard from ebay, and I must say that this thing is very, very impressive. works great with the G3

Have seen a youtube review for it and found on an online shop. It sounds like a decent device but I think it is just for watching movies as it lacks magnet button on side like some others do, which adds interaction that used in some vr apps. I therefore hv just ordered one on dx.com, a brand called Neje. Will share my opinions when it arrives.
