Do you guys turn your phones off? Poll

Well do you? I do at night. My buddy never turns his iphone off. Seems like unnecessary wear to me. Thoughts guys?

At night. I don't like to leave it on if I'm not using it.

That's kinda my thinking to. My buddy hasn't turned his phone off in 2 years!!

I never turn my phones off--family is close by, JIC of an emergency. Been woken up a couple of times to help in the middle of the night.
Personality will not allow me to leave my phone on at night. I also refuse to leave it simply sitting on a charger... right or wrong, just the way that I am.
It's not a mechanical device...not really extra wear. Never turn mine off, I have two batteries and just swap them when one dies. Never leave it on the charger.
Only when about to Odin to stock or when the battery dies on me.
I used to until I flashed my current rom now if I turn it off and plug it in it turns back off so I just leave it on now.

Never off. This is my only line, couldn't cut myself off from emergency contact. Might be different if I had a landline.

same here.
GreggoryD502, you should make this thread a poll. it would be interesting to see the breakdown...
i like to see how long i can go before having to shut it off or reboot it. I'm a uptime whore and like to beat my own records. I think so far it was 400+ hours on a TW ROM....I'm at 281 right now since my last reboot - but i've never really turned off the phone, plus it's my only line (we don't have have a landline at home)
- I turn my phone off daily, but just for a min at most to swap out batteries. I have a battery charger that I keep plugged in so I always have a battery at 100%.
- The longest I've had my phone turned off was for 2days. It was this past weekend when I did the FFC mod.
*Is it weird that I leave my phone on at night, but I ALWAYS unplug my refrigerator* You gotta have priorities right
I thought cellphones where designed to be on all the time. I can't imagine turning my phone off at night because someone might call or send a sms from family, work, etc.

Talked to T mob CS once. They told me that it's good to turn it off(reboot) at least once a day. Have to do something with network refresh as I recall... Leaving it on charger doesn harm battery as thay have built in over charging protection...
Just my 2 cents..
I MUST have my phone on 100% of the time. I'm always on call so if the phone rings I need to answer it. At the movies? Yup! I need to walk out to take it. At a church/wedding/funeral service? Yup... there too. I'll find myself in a world of hurt by my employers if my phone service was ever interrupted.
Yeah, when I need to get in download mode.
only time i need to turn off the phone is when i need to get into download mode. other than that, it's always on.
On all the time, unless the battery dies, just incase someone needs me and doesn't call the house line.

[Q] Ghosted HTC Evo3D

I have a good one for anyone, I have a Evo3D which I am going to do all those wicked things to.. but last night or rather this am around 645. this Evo turned its self on and set off a alarm in which I had never set. when I was trying to shut off the alarm it started clicking away at the camera.. but there is no sd card in it, so it did not save them. and I had to pull the battery to shut the cell off again. the button on the top would not function the cell. this was a very strange occurrence while I was 3/4 asleep.. the cell is not activated and its banded sprint.. has anyone ever heard of this before? I have currently taken the battery out of the cell in case of ghostly occurrences.

never heard of anything like this .. if the cell isnt activated, then nobody could be remotely controlling it via the cell radio.
was it connected via wifi?
is the device internal memory write protection unlocked? rooted? are you running any type of custom ROM or software on the device?
sure sounds like a very odd occurance .. my only guess would be maybe you were a bit sleepy?
No this thing is stock.. and I'm not the only one who heard the alarm. my partner who was in bed with me heard it also.. and this morning we both said how freakin weird..
Are you sure the phone wasnt just in sleep mode. I cant see how the phone would turn on by itself. That would be the best invention ever.
ok here is the thing, I had taken the battery out and put it back in, and never turned the cell on. it was just laying there waiting for me to decide what to do to it.. IE root, rom mgr etc. When the damn thing just did this.. a self starting phone that rang the alarm at 645 am.. and when I picked it up the camera started acting wacky and I had to pull the battery to shut it back off.. weird huh.
Whatever you are smoking, you should probably share.
Weird
That does sound a little crazy......was alcohol involved
Record it!

would be the best invention? LOL My old phone Moto ROKR E6 have that ability. You know the phone was released in 2006.
heres the follow up. HTC whom i contacted said " that the on off button and the hardware in the notifications for the alarm was in a stuck loop meaning that it needs repaired . so its still under warranty and is on its way back to them. hopefully it will be fixed and returned. that they have seen this on this model. Im glad someone knew what the world is up.
oh and also i'm sorry I was not smoking anything, isn't my style.. sorry

[Q] blue-white, blue-white, blue-white, blue-white

The title pretty much explains it all. I can't use data for more than 5 minutes without Verizon obviously hogging my data. I am on an unlimited data plan. I use the browser, any app, email, pretty much everything I do outside of wi-fi I get slowed down. It's not my service and it's not because I use a lot of data. Verizon is just slowing down my data A LOT. On top of that, I just plugged my phone into the computer to charge and the screen went out on it. I will see what Verizon has to say about this tomorrow. But right now, I have no phone because I plugged my phone in to charge. Could this have something to do with me being rooted? Longtime Iphone user. I am a patient person when it comes to technology, but I am rapidly losing patience with my RAZR. I love everything about this phone, except for Verizon slowing down my data CONSTANTLY and yeah right now I have no phone because I plugged it into my laptop to charge. WTF.

Need some help with cell standby turning on airplane mode, among other things

So yesterday I upgraded to ICS. I am running stock phone with no mods done to it.
I am attaching some pictures for you guys to see what the problem is. The battery level starts from when Unplugged the phone to download ICS.
Now I am connected to wifi all day and night because I get no signal in this place. Its a basement appartment. As you can see, I went to bed, and for some reason mobile network signal popped on the entire time while I was sleeping. This has NEVER happened before. Then I got up and took my phone and put it on the charger and as you can see it automatically went right back onto wifi Fine.
My question is what is going on with that? My only conclusion is the cell standby which was on for 5 hours and 4 mins as you can see in the picture.
It also says switch to airplane mode to save power in area with no coverage. Is that what it is doing ?? and how do I take that off??. I cant go the whole night without having service and not getting anything.
Why would my wifi go off?
And incase you ask, no I do not have any juicedefender on my phone
Thanks guys
The phone shuts off the WiFi when data comes on... That part is normal.
However, I have not the slightest clue why your mobile network would just turn on by itself when not being used. The color of your data readings is a different color than I've seen also. Very strange

I guess I will see what happens tonight. Something is turning off Wifi when the phone goes on standby or when I dont use it for a while I am assuming. Just no idea how that can happen. There are not any settings I can set for it either to stop it. Hope some people on the board have an idea
EDIT: Wait I think I found a solution. What do you guys think?
Maybe this needs to be on always.

Yup, you should have the first one selected if you want wifi to stay on while your screen is off.

[Q] [q] 3g/4g/1x battery issues

SO i have this common problem. Anytime i'm somewhere with a bad signal, my phone gets really hot and battery get really low.
The phone gets stuck syncing, so i manually turn off sync and kill any ongoing sync. But it happens even when the signal really isn't bad.
For example tonight, it said i had 3g, but i wasn't getting any data. So i went outside and still 3g. I turn airplane mode on.. then off again, then presto i have 4g.
I think something is happening where it gets stuck in 3g or 1x with no data, and it makes no attempts to go back to 3g, or back to 4g, it just sits there burning up my battery.
SO a: should the phone ever get really hot to the touch ? (The back.. it's the battery that is warm i'm sure)
b. What i can i do so it will stop being so stupid and pick up the good 4g when it's clearly there...
c. I just have to stop this losing battery power in 20 min flat problem. My wife has the same phone and she has no such problems.
I can tell it's doing it as i can fell my pocket getting hot. That shouldn't happen in my opinion.
What software are you running stock of other?
It's not a glitch, this isn't Wreck it Ralph.

weren't there reports of people having an issue like this with the phone getting stuck when switching from 3g / 4g? i'm wanting to say i've heard of stock phones doing that and a replacement phone fixed it. unless you want to keep using a manual effort to force it back like what you are doing with airplane mode...
I've had similar issues in low signal areas (unfortunately that is the norm where I work). It doesn't happen all the time, maybe once a week where the phone gets really hot even when not in use. I reboot to fix.
I was running Viper for months and it happened with both stock and that ROM. Running CM10.1 now, and I'll see if that changes anything.
Sorry, but I guess I have nothing to add for cause or solution, just thought I'd share having the same issue.
