I found the first giant flaw in the design of the mega yesterday. I used to lay my note 2 in my cupholder. Just open the lid on it and it would sit perfectly over both cup openings and leave room for a headphone jack to be plugged in the top for phone calls. I went to do that with the Mega yesterday and the phone is cocked at an angle and it holds down the power button and hung up my call. It's just too wide. Now I need to consider options for where else to place the phone in the car, or replace the radio with one that has blue teeth. :crying:

LOL that is funny. I had a cubby in my car that fit my note 1 with case perfectly...Not so much with the Mega. Now I find myself without a convenient place to store it.
Might be a deal killer for me
You can turn off the option to end call via the power button in call settings.

Get yourself a short rasp file and file out the portions of the cubby to the correct size you need.
Kustom Kubbie....now youre a customizer.!!! Good luck

I kind of feel like the stock rom should have came with an option that made it so the power button couldnt turn off the phone unless the screen was off or something... Maybe having it atleast ask for a power down password just because of how oddly placed the power button is and what not it makes it hard to keep this phone on with it just in your pocket.
Honestly I understand all the one hand users out their that want the power button in a stupid spot but I personally wish it would have been near the top right of the phone some place you had to reach for I find myself hold my phone and hitting the power button all the time.
It's not a mega fault it's a car problem......

Still, thanks for the post. You saved me a tenner.

annoying for this is exactly what i'd like!
Would this not work with the Vega in Host Mode?
I got one of these for my Advent Vega from Amazon for £16.99 delivered. It's OK. Regarding the comments made earlier:-
Problems:
"--Pin chassis, right, blocks the usb and HMDI, (with scissors and cut it to plug the usb). For there is no solution HMDI."
I guess u can cut the lug off but I didnt. Instead I bent back the right hand lug (which is designed to secure the tablet in the case) and put a little velcro on the back of the unit and the case to keep the Vega in place.
"--The keyboard does not work (The solution is to plug a hub)"
My keyboard works fine, although it took me some time to figure out why it didnt work from the off. Being a newbie to android, I didn't understand the usb host / slave stuff and there may have been another complication. I had to check the modaco forum to figure out what to do.
"Advantages:
--10$"
Damn. I paid nearly double that!
"at the end he finished in a forgotten drawer."
I like the case and use it now and then. However I primarily wanted the keyboard for use when travelling to enable me to edit word documents and the like (i.e using the Vega as a laptop/netbook substitute) which is when this particular case comes in handy. Mostly I use my Vega in pure tablet form so I normally keep it in a regular 10" protective sleeve.

Looks awesome
You just saved me £10, thanks!
I'm just curious if anyone has come up with a "nifty" solution for this problem. Because the speaker in the Aria is on the back of the phone, any time I lay it on my desk (face up), the ringing of an incoming call is all but inaudible in anything short of a very quiet room.
I've looked at a number of different phone cases but none of them do anything to create an air gap for the sound to escape from.
I'm just tired of having to find something to prop the phone up on every time I set it down.
Heh....this was driving me nuts when I first got the Aria. I don't have a "nifty" solution as it were, but once I got a silicone case for the phone that has a bezel around the outside of the screen area, I no longer worried about putting the phone down face-down (as the bezel on the case keeps the screen from coming in contact with whatever surface it is on) so now the speaker is on the "up" side of the phone and I can hear it...
Also go into dsp manager if on cm7 and set the phone speaker setting
Signatures are fancy.
Have a silicon case and I always hear it. Face up or face down. Even in the other room.

juss buy or use a phone holder. i use an old hair grease container to put my phone in and it does the job well
Thanks for all of the suggestions.
Because I place the phone in a docking station at night and use it that way as an alarm clock, phone cases are a problem because the phone won't fit in the dock with a case on.
I finally solved the problem with 2 very small drops of epoxy, applied with a toothpick. The small rounded drops stick up from the phone cover about the same height as the thickness of a credit card, yet let the speaker sound come through loud and clear.
Now I can set it down, face up, anywhere and not worry about hearing it ring.

That is an excellent idea, this was a definite oversight when our phones were designed with such a small speaker.
Anyone have a simple way to prevent the sides of the battery door from squeaking? Mostly on the left side. Anyone else have this issue? Happens on my oem extended and oem standard door. Thanks in advance.

I had the same case and holster for the stock battery from verizon and quit using it after my phone slid out and hit the floor 5 times...
Went back to a leather case that you put the phone in (with belt clip).
perhaps a tad of electrical grease?...

If its the same thing that's happening to me then its not so much a squeak as it is feeling like its not completely on right.

I had that case and mine has always been tight. Had to really try and get it out to answer. I have 3 extras back from cpo they sent.
So I was having the rebooting issue that so many of us are having with different cases.... I know about the other mod where you modify the back of the phone but I did not really want to do that so I took the case and phone and really looked into the problem...
What I found was otter is putting a really nice "bump" of rubber on the inside of the case so the users get a nice and easy button push... Well after some playing i realized this made the button way to easy to push. So easy that any pressure was holding the power button down. Now our phone have a ultra slim easy to press power button as it is, but with the cases added "bump" on the inside its over kill. So I took a razor blade and SLOWLY AND CAREFULLY cut the extra bump out...

It looks a little sloppy in the pictures but by taking my time I got it smooth and flat. Now I have a little play room on the button (I actually like the feeling more now!) and it has not rebooted alllllll day.
I would say if you're like me and don't want to modifie your phone... I would try this first.... With the case on you can't see it and no body will ever know you did it when you go to sell the phone .. unless they really know what to look for.. ... But when you go to resell your phone they might notice the base cover being modified....
This might work with other cases too! Let me know what you think and let everyone know if you try it and it works with other cases!

Not sure why guys with rebooting issues don't hold the case manufacturer accountable for an obvious design flaw. I owned 4 different cases and none of them had this problem. If my case was causing my phone to reboot, I would just return it for one of the many other cases that work fine.

So my Gear S does not fully latch on to the charging cradle anymore it only adheres to the back what has happened. I don't want to get a new one that I have to pay alot for so for now I have a hair tie to hold it together that is the only way it will charge for now. However I don't want it to ruin my watch to the point where it will not charge at all. Any ideas or solutions

Try this .....
Ok so I just saw the charger the top piece broke off a little which holds the cradle in place. So for now I will try the pill bottle method if not hair tie it will be.
Both my clips broke
Both of mine broke and now it's a real PIA.
I really can't believe Samsung came up with such a horrible design when such a simple and effective method like what LG or even Apple is going to use exists. I still enjoy my gear S but now that both clips are broken, I really am ticked as it's making charging a PIA.
I've already made the decision to switch to the LG Urbane LTE the moment it's available in the US and while I don't know when that will be, I'm definitely going to make the move. IMO it looks 1000% better too.
In the mean time, I just jumped on Amazon and via Prime ordered the cheap charger only cradle for the Gear S. Due to arrive Tuesday so I'll post back the findings but the dozen plus reviews show it works perfectly. I don't really use the built in battery on the existing one much if at all since the Gear S holds a charge so long.

Just call Samsung and they will replace it.
