Data sense is a nokia app that's updated from the store after you flash Amber.
Tethering works with the keyboard workaround .... until you open up the access point app. There is another thread on that.

Use any of the custom ROMs that specify they have ROOT ACCESS in the description. Dont waste you time with the official one.

but are they all basically the official 2.1 with root access ?
Only the newer ones since yesterday. They should specify if they are built using the GSM release or the Legend / Eris leaks.
one other thing. I can't get mobile network to turn on with the official 2.1 ROM. As such, I can't download MMS, and MMSZap doesn't seem to be working.
Have you checked your APN settings. Settings -> Wireless -> Mobile Networks -> Access point names.
ok i manually entered the apn settings for my provider. guess mmszap 2.0 doesn't work on hero rom because it was built for the leaked eris roms.

Wifi hotspot and usb tethering give same issue iam on stock 4.3 rooted.
Iam not in usa, do I need hack to make it work?

Yea, might not be able to use the stock VZW Hotspot without modification.
Users are reporting FoxFi works.

Believe there is a way to remove the tethering restriction by installing a modded framework as well, but depends on your build version.

I have also haviong issues on activating WiFi hotspot, every time i am enabling that, an error would occur and it says that contach att.com/mywireless or call 611 what to do.?/ I have searched on google and found that, they adviced me to change my at&t phone into google play editio using bootloader process. Is it safe to do?? and if not is there any other process to do. the main thing i am in india now. help me please help me???
I had similar problems with my HTC One at&t version. However, there's a separate section for at&t htc one related issues, you can see there. Also, you might take a look into the links on my signature.

I have done that also i have posted on htc one forum also bit i dint get any reply there. I want to update its sense to 6.0 and android to 4.4.2 and also wanna usse the wifi hotspot what to do?
You can convert to Developer Edition. You will get Sense 6.0 update ota immediately. You can also flash the at&t sense 6.0 ota via stock recovery. For both the cases you will need s-off. You can follow the tutorial on my signature.
None of the stock roms have tethering unlocked without appropriate service plan,you will need to flash a developer build or international rom that have tethering unlocked.

I'm actually with metro pcs but I flashed t-mobile version of 6.0.1 and added a rooted kernel. I was wondering if there was a way to use my personal data for my hotspot instead of my actual hotspot data? I've heard this can be done but haven't figured it out yet. I don't have a lot of experience in all of this yet, I just learned how to root and flash ROMs 2 days ago
Anybody with the Unlocked Note 8 with AT&T have any luck with updates getting advanced calling features working as of yet?
I had to flash the AT&T firmware to get them working and now I can't get OTA updates anymore and sideloading is a huge pain.
Thinking about going back to stock Unlocked if the features are working now.

Does adding fota to apn work for ota....or just adding update.zip to SD and applying update in recovery..all better than sideload...sorry I know this doesn't answer the calling features though...

I've never tried adding the fota update to the apn. How do you do that? If that would keep from wiping I'd give that a try.
I posted a message on reddit too in the Galaxy s8 forum and nobody has gotten the advance calling features working for the unlocked version. I don't care staying with ATT I just dont want to have to wipe everything each time I update.

go to OP...If not available for ATT, putting update.zip on sd may be the best bet...You can add a new apn that is the same as your current apn but adds the fota and then select it as your apn if you can not edit it with the method above...

Another user just let me know that they got all features working on SM-N950U1 by calling AT&T and using a S8 active IMEI # that is not being used...all features work on unlocked software
Finally got my carrier unlocked to get all the AT&T features to work. I flashed the AT&T firmware but the important thing is to get the imei of an AT&T smartphone that nobody is using. Activate the SIM card with the imei of the AT&T device. Boom then ur unlocked carrier note 8 will have all the features. Right now my note 8 shows up as an Galaxy S8 active on there website. :laugh:
I went through hours with AT&T customer service trying to get my imei whitelisted. They would give me the run around. Try the samething over and over again. Send me to level 3 tech to get my issue resolved. Say they will call me back to make sure everything is working and they would never call back. Save yourself some time and do what I did. By the way I didn't even call them to add the S8 active imei. I just chatted with them online and did that way. Screw AT&T they are *****es when it comes to this.
