Hello,
Some strange status of my Tablet S (SGPT112CN/S), bought in China.
The original version is 3.2. I wanted to root it, so the device was updated to 3.2.1 by a SD card -- because it was said the not 3.2 but 3.2.1 can be rooted. Then it was rooted successfully.
But now I find it is of a strange "dual system" status: there are two version of system in the device at the same time. One is unroot 3.2.1, and the other one is root 3.2. They swithed once you reboot the device: this time is 3.2.1, next time is 3.2.
And it takes about nine minutes to reboot the device each time. Before the update it took about four or five minutes. (Still long, but much much better than now.)
No idea what to do now. Update again? Root again? Totally confused.
Thanks

At least you have two versions of the OS.
And you really think we where going to end there?

Will it be helpful to change the region? It seems that there is problem with the system rather than the region...
Maybe I should try to update a third 4.0.3, then I may have a tablet with three systems. What a mess....

The tablet has two system partitions, system0 and system1. "Dual flash" means the tool flashes both system partitions so they are identical, which is what you want. When the tablet boots, it uses only one of the system partitions. The tool first determines which partition is being used and then flashes the unused partition. Then the tool causes the tablet to switch and use the newly flashed partition and flashes the previously used partition.

China apparently has all sorts of problem with Play store etc. That is why I mentioned. Also there are a lot more zips for US region (all of them infact 3.2 11000, 3.2.1R1 0035 3.2.1R2 0042, ICS, ICSR1a, ICSR5 and ICSR5a). This is because people have collected them and re-uploaded when Sony has taken them down.
As an alternative to flasher you could install US R5 and Then the newer R5a. This would make one system partition R5 and the other R5a. Once there root and install rescue back-door.

Though I can download a CN version 3.2.1 ROM when it has been removed from the update server of SONY (alsocollected by users of Tablet S in China), but no play store is a HUGE problem.
I'll try to fix the problem later. Maybe this week. Then I'll return to update.
Sorry for updating so late... The rooted 3.2. "disappeared" automaticly several months ago. I have changed region into US and updated to 4.0.3, but havn't root it. It takes about two minutes to reboot.

Guys, afer installing this patch, GUI works about 2x faster for me. So, the latest ICS fastboot cannot be final. THANK YOU!
Is this an official leak or some custom effort? I've put it and it seems like an improvement but i 'm worried if it will void my warranty or if it will not allow me to get any other official future update.

Would somebody be so kind and try to keep the update.zip for those of us who have problems getting back to stock?
ICS is now released and my Springboard is downloading the update!
Here is the ZIP file update for anyone that want to grab it to extract and play...
http://www.gamefront.com/files/22180781/Springboard-ics-update.zip
Update:
OTA failed for me right away. I got the update to manually install with the following steps:
1) Created a folder on root of my SDcard, dload
2) Copied the update ZIP file above into dload and renamed it to update.zip
3) Created a zero length file unlmt.cfg in the dload folder
Rebooted with normal VOL+ key held down to start a SD install.
Note: After upgrade completed the Launcher would not start and kept repeating "Unfortunately Launcher has stopped".
To fix, click Ok and quickly bring up the Statusbar menu by swiping it at the bottom of the screen and click on the clock/date, next enter Settings->Apps->All->Launcher, then clear data.
Looks like a full update So everyone who flashed the Springboard to MediaPad could go back now, if wanted.
Best feature in this update for me is, the startup T-mobile sound is about 1/4 the old volume!
:fingers-crossed:
Does this T-mobile ICS seem to support the phone function?

I'm downloading it now. I think I might try to flash just the radio files and see if that improves things for me. I'm otherwise satisfied with the international ICS firmware.

Have you actually got this root method to work for the non-Mediapad Springboard with the T-Mobile firmware? I run Linux and so the command script in this package will not exactly execute on my machine. I tried manually sequentially entering the adb commands contained in the command script, and got stuck at a 'permission denied' error within the first several commands. If this does work for the Springboard, and not just the Mediapad, then there might be something about the embedded windows drivers and software for the device that allows it to work...because I sure can't get it to fly on Ubuntu.

I actually used the below method to install root again on ICS. I believe there is a fastboot for Linux if you cannot find a DOS/Windows machine.
Only issue I was my Springboard was recovery booting off of "recovery2" partition so I needed to flashboot that partition to get CWM recovery to boot. Since the Official Springboard ICS zip package contains the stock recovery.img file you really can flash both recovery/recovery2 partitions and revert back later if needed.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1850367
And to clarify, for booting into Fastboot, you hold the power button and the VOL closest to it down at the same time.
To boot recovery/CWM hold the power button and VOL key furthur away from the power button (its VOL Up) for some reason.
Also, don't try to use the Touch recovery (TWM) package, it froze up on me when trying to run the root zip installer, but luckily reverting to the basic CWM recovery, I was able to re-install and fix my boot looping.
Hi,
I am trying to use Wireless Update to update to 20160315. It says my current version is P9000_Elephone 6.0_20160304 and no update is available. Is it possible to use Wireless Update for this or do I need to flash the ROM?

Some had the luck with an ota update, but I think most of us flashed the new rom.
This is a bit ridiculous, Im in same boat, I cant use the FP sensor on mine until I get 0315, but it says Im up to date on 0304, I cant flash as I dont have windows. I think the best thing I can do with this phone now is put it back in its box and send it back to the retailer. Very frustrating as apart from this, its a good device.
I ended up flashing it and overall it was worth it. I ended up with a clean install - don't know if there was another way so that I didn't have to re-install everything? The process was also a bit more fiddly when using Windows 10 as I had to bypass the driver signing system by booting windows with this disabled.
Does anyone have an issue with WiFi consuming a lot of power? I've now enabled it to be always on to see if that helps as I read somewhere that it might.
According to a post on the Elephone forum, they've pulled the ota and we should expect a new one mid April.
Some users have 20160401beta, so they are working on something.
For me no OTA, you need to flash it manually with the latest flash tools. Older versions can not load the scatter file.
Best would be, if the elephone distributes the update.zip so we could copy it to the phone and install it from the update menu.

The lasty twrp versions I tried in Android 6, showed upside down on my phone when I booted twrp, but the touchscreen was at the "regular" spot, so it was very very difficult to navigate. There is no need for all these complicated steps. My phone(Z016D) was also rooted. I just downloaded the Nougat ROM, copied it over to the root of the internal drive. As soon as you disconnect the phone from PC, you will get a notification "New System Update detected". Click Update and you're good to go. After installation, I would suggest to do a factory reset.

It's a good news! You mean that you update to 7.0 with twrp?!!!It is awesome!
However I want to know that how did you root?with superSU?system-less superSU?magisk?or another? And did you change your system?like install Exposed,viper4Android,or delete some system app?I think these actions might make you meat some problem when updating. So I think my method might be almost 100% to update success.
Whatever thanks for your advice, and enjoy your root

How exactly can they create problems. There reason you can't have OTA updates is unlocked bootloader. That however, shouldn't really prevent you from flashing rom through recovery via SD card or sideload or just dropping it into internal storage and doing what rynaus did.

I think that you can try rynaus first.Because it's more easier. If it isn't work ,try what I say.
How exactly can they create problems. →It may cause update fail, usually just can't update success.(from my experience from my ZF5 and ZF2)

I can confirm that the twrp-3.1.0-0-Z016D-20170319-N does not show upside down for me. I hope you all have the same result.

Guys some help please.
I sideloaded the 037 Nov update OK.
Just tried Dec A1 global OTA and got the attached errors. Will I be safe to reboot? Or how do I sort this?
I'm in the UK on a Google Store unlock P6
Just rebooted. Install failure was immediate so despite the warnings guessed I'd be ok. Thankfully I was
Can't figure out where I went wrong. Can anyone tell me why I got those errors?
I got essentially the same errors on my laptop, but it went fine on my desktop. Try a different cable and a different computer or a USB port that is on the motherboard.

You verified the md5 checksum after you downloaded it? The only other thing would be you flashed the wrong one for your device ... but I guess if it works, no point in continuing on right?

Might be the cable. Can't be sure if I used a different cable last time? It'll have to wait for another day now.
You try the google flash tool? If you're unlocked you could extract the factory image and fastboot update with the extracted Oriole zip

You should be using the A4 OTA file since you're in the UK

My understanding is that the A1 build is a Global build for Google Store bought unlocked phones which mine is.
Besides I tried A4 when A1 failed with the same result.
Pretty sure it's a cable issue.

That happened to me the 1st time I sideloaded the mid-nov update, it read the img but failed installing it.
Turned out that simply switching from the front left USB 2.0 to the front right USB 2.0 of my PC solved it and I was able to sideload properly. No idea how or why that would make a difference though but I guess that's technologie for you
Hoped the OTA worked come today and save me the hassle. Still not got it though in the UK. How long can it take to come through?

Rumor has it that if you sideloaded the mid-november update (037) you won't get an OTA at all.
No idea if that applies to you but if it does you should consider using the flash tool to see whichever update it shows you as Default, then sideload that one. That way future updates should be OTA again (as long as you're not rooted).

Yea V0latyle was faster lol - you need to use Chrome for that link though (or maybe Edge too), Firefox etc aren't supported.

Check this sub forum, there are 1 or 2 that are about the December update and I'm pretty sure users in both mentioned it somewhere.
If you flash 037 update you won't get ota for December update.
But it's better to stay on November patch level.
I'm on December and have bad connection.
Can't use phone call longer then 10 sec ...
