Hi to all of my friends here, i am using Galaxy S3 now, but wanted to flash my old Sony Xperia Sola with GB rom, cause a friend of mine wants it that way and decided to ask:
The phone now uses CM but as we all know its not that stable, now i downloaded GB rom and want to flash it - How?
Just put the rom in flashtool/firmwares and flash it?

As I have upgraded my Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 to a Sony Xperia S the beginning of this year, I gave my old X10 to my younger sister.
It is currently running Wolfbreaks latest GB ROM with DooMKernel.
I am looking to upgrade to ICS.
Can anyone link me to the most stable ICS ROM?
And what are the steps into flashing it?
Is it like back then where you flash stock ROM then root and then enter CMW and flashing Custom ROM?
What about kernel?
I really do apologize for my noobiest... I haven't touch the X10 forums since AGES. D;
They Are All stable, but you should try the new v2 of feralab ics.. And Gingerbread still seams to be faster than ics so it's your choice

Just flash Fera's V2. Didn't see much problem, but if it's for your little sister, I'll suggest stick with GB ROM for now.

Goto following link and Install a FerKernal V4 and ROM, you need to install a ADD on package-1 and other apps to get the Google Play after installation of ROM and Kernal.
You will get the Addon packages and SEMC apps in the thread itself.
Its preety good and stable.

1. Yes u can, with GB ftf file.
2. If u think on ROMs like CyanogenMod ROM answer is no, u must first unlock ur BL.
1. Of course u can, just download the file and flash it with flashtool
2. Some custom rom need unlock bootloaders to be installed, but another rom no need that.
I think if u want to install more custom rom, mod, root and etc, unlock bl is the best way

Guys, thank you very much. I succesfully downgraded to GB official stock ROM.
Now my last but very important question is - i dont like GB and i still dont like ICS (i downgraded only because of better battery life in GB), but i want to test some custom ROM (like AOKP rom posted in Sola section).
As much as i red i can not flash this ROM without unlocking the bootloader and installing CWM on my phone, is that right?
Actually the question i wanted to ask was - if i unlock bootloader can i flash custom rom with Flash Tool or i can flash only with CWM (which i dont know but i dont want to use)?

Have you unlocked your bootloader? I suspect not. This is what flashtools is referencing.
Custom roms and mods that work on stock kernels can be installed on rooted devices.
Some mods/roms make such significant changes to Sony's builds that a new kernel is required (MIUI, CM, AOKP). To install a custom kernel you need to unlock your bootloader.
You may read the instructions provided by the author of the rom., to flash kernels, you need to unlock your bootloader. Seek and you'll see.
Is that right? lol

Now you’ve flashed one ROM on the Ray I can’t see you stopping
It doesn’t matter what WE recommend because your experience of which is the best ROM may be different to ours.
Try them all – I usually change mine once a month. But in my humble opinion, the most cutting edge, fully featured, experimental yet suitable for daily use ROM is PAC. My little Ray runs smoother than my wife’s Galaxy S2 and has so much more swagger – to borrow from AOKP.
so you recommend PAC rom ? actullay i want to stay with my stock based smooth (ASOP) ROM. if you know something then pls recommend me

Sorry, that's impossible, either get a usb-cable for it, or stick to roms that run on stock kernel.
Yap, sorry man but it's true, there's no other way to flash kernels yet.

Yes u can proceed but before flashing the rom..flash a suitable jb kernel in fastboot mode using flashtool..
check inside the ROM zip file u downloaded, if u have boot.img file...
Flash it in fastboot mode, boot into CWM
Mounts and Storage->Mount USB Storage->copy the rom to your sd card and then flash the ROM using CWM
Make sure CM build is not buggy..
Hit thanks if i helped u..
Regards..
Ok, I'll try this later. Thanks
When you change version and/or ROM, don't forget to make backup of your data and wipe data/factory before install new ROM.

Actually you should first upgrade the firmware to ICS using either Sony updater or flashtool.
In addition to that you also need to unlock your bootloader!
If you dont want to unlock it you should try a rom that supports locked bootloader.
