Ok, so I will be selling my Rezound soon, and the guy buying wants it all stock, and just about every global RUU link I find is broken and can't download it. Is it possible to download the rooted stock Global RUU, and be able to relock and go S-on, or is there anything else I would have to do? Thanks in advance

I am running the rooted version of the Global stock ROM. I have made no changes to radios or Hboot. I am running S-off. Reason I am asking, I have the 3.14 RUU, and when I try to download, it keeps saying service unavailable, yet I can be on WiFi or in a 4G area with 4 bars and it still says it. If I could find a way to make the phone run the OTA update from the 3.14 RUU, it wouldn't be a problem, however, I want to take it back to stock, without hard bricking it.

Just out of curiosity are sure you running the RUU for 3.14.605.12? There were several leaks of similar versions and IIRC, you have to be on the exact bloated version that Verizon was using to get the OTA update to 4.05.605.14. If you need the shipped one, you can download it from here: http://shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Vigor It has both the .zip version along with the .exe version which is the true RUU way of doing it (phone must be connected to computer by data usb cable and the program run on your computer). As long as you are still S-off, you should have no issue doing the 3.14.605.12, get the OTA updates, and then S-on if you wish to.
ETA: I have used the downloads from the link I provided to do this on several different phones and it worked for me. And the download usually runs pretty quick even though it is a 604mb file. I did see on the other thread that a link was provided for a similar download but that said it was a 598mb size and that may/may not be a clue that it might be the wrong version.

To confirm, are you s-on or s-off, and what exactly is the rom version? there is a small ota that came between the 3.14.605.12 and the 4.05.605.14. That ota is 3.14.605.13.
Also, are you on pure stock? stock recovery and all? If so, and you are already on 3.14.605.13, you can load this from the stock recovery (otapkg.zip for 4.05.605.14):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=40757466&postcount=19
If you are on 3.14.605.12, you need to load this from stock recovery first:
http://www.wizwire.net/vigor/OTAPkg-3.14.605.13.zip
Drop the OTA file(s) onto your root sd card, power off, hold vol dn + power for several seconds to get you into hboot. Select recovery from the menu.
-Wait for stock recovery to boot (wait for red triangle with explanation point), once loaded, volume up button + power button will bring up stock recovery menu
-Use volume buttons to scroll, power button to select load zip from file to load the otapkg.zip's.
(copied from http://www.droidforums.net/forum/ht...-how-access-hboot-fastboot-recovery-menu.html)
Let me know if you have any trouble!

I recently re-locked my bootloader (never had s-off) and flashed the appropriate RUU to restore my device back to complete stock, however now it won't pull the ICS update and I'm having a hard time figuring out what issue is. Is there any chance that someone can help me get this working? When I check the status of the upgrade server it's completely blank except for the source: Verizon Wireless and code: 0 any idea?
Flash the GB RUU and it will update to ICS after the install. If you flashed the ICS leaks then you need to S off so that you can get back to GB. Getting S off is very easy. I would recommend it so you can flash all the new roms.

Hello, I have a stock Rooted Rezound runniong 2.3.4 android. I got prompted to install ICS, and i delayed it, and it installed anyway and my phone would not get past the HTC screen. I have cwm installed, and i reverted back to the day i rooted.
How do i get the phone back to "stock" so i can get the OTA properly. is there a thread i can follow? i am s-on i think. (how do i tell, i thought i was s-off, see below for the bootloader screen)
when o go to the boot loader it says
*** UNLOCKED *** (in pink)
VIGOR PVT SHIPS S-ON RL
HBOOT-2.11.0000
eMMC-boot
You are S-On.
Download the GB RUU.
Relock the bootloader.
Run the GB RUU.
Let the OTA install.

So i think i figured out the shipped roms site. the Rezound is under vigor.
so which one do i flash theres 3 different roms.
how do i figure out which one i am on
1.00.605.3
1.02.605.6
2.01.605.11
also is there another link for the fastboot tool? so i can lock it again? Will these replace cwm on my device?
You have boot 2.11 so you need to get the 2.01 ruu. And yes it will return it too 100 percent stock including the recovery. You want to keep kt that way until after you update with the ota.

What happens when you check for a new update? Does it sit there for a couple seconds and then just disappear and not say anything? Or does it at least tell you that "there is no update available"? I had this same issue on the GB update: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1469246
basically what I had to do what activate my SIM on another rezound and then put it back into my original and it started pulling the updates.

I was able to lock the device. Push the RUU 2.01 (like recommended) I then pulled down two OTA updates. One "prepared for ICS" the second installed ICS
thanks for your help.
My HTC Rezound was upgraded soon after I got it, I did whatever was necessary (don't remember exactly) to install CleanRom 4.5 (I think), which is definitely android 2.3.
Obviously, I missed the OTA Update due to CleanRom. How can I upgrade to 4.0? I understood how to do everything 6 months ago, unfortunately now I have no idea. Thank you in advance for your help!
Are you "S-Off"? If not, make this your first priority. Then you can flash back and forth between roms with the greatest of ease. Then flash the latest RUU

Reboot into bootloader (hold power+vol down) the bootloader screen will tell you
Also, post the radio version numbers here, that will also tell us what firmware you are on (2.3 or 4.0)
I'd you are on gb firmware still, you will need to run the ics ota RUU. Do a search for it, it is an easy process

It said S-On, so I guess I didn't S-OFF previously. Does this mean I have to wipe to install a new OS if I don't S-OFF?
In "About Phone"->"Software Information", it says
Android Version 2.3.4.
Software number CleanROM GBE 1.6
Kernel Version 2.6.35.13-gf1931dc
Baseband Version 0.95.00.1118r, 0.95.00.1223r
Build number 2.01.605.11 CL252791
Hoping one of the above is the number you were looking for.

Yep that's what I needed, so just run that ruu, it will wipe everything except your external sd so do what's necessary to avoid losing data (do a back up of your apps and text messages and whatnot) the app I use for this is Gobackup from Google play.
After that you just need to re flash a recovery and then an ics rom of your choice. S off is not necessary, it just makes flashing kernels require one less step

You got a red triangle when trying to boot normally? That's Ok, I'm asking you to boot into bootloader by doing this :
1) pull battery out and reinsert
2) start device by holding volume down+power buttons until a white screen appears with some info on it.
If you get that screen your not bricked, and you can go ahead and put the RUU on the sd card using your computer and an sd card reader

I wanted to unroot my phone i was running nusense's desensed custom ics rom and had the ics radio. I stupidly flashed the original RUU hoping that it will unroot and bring me to stock. This wasn't the case it only locked my bootloader, gave me s-on, and downgraded the radio and failed the rest of the update. The phone is stuck in the bootloader, i tried getting it connect to adb it is not reading my phone. On windows it says unrecognized usb device sometimes and other times it doesnt read it at all. I tried flashing the RUU for froyo and gingerbread but both say update failed main version is older! ....Can anybody help me please! Thank you
Do a battery pull and let it sit, same thing happened to me trying to run the unroot tool from rooted stock. After sitting for ~1 hr, it rebooted fine.

I don't think thats the case because I flashed the froyo RUU when i was rooted and had an ics official custom rom with radio. I can't get past the s-on with **locked** and **security warning** in pink bootloader and cannot get my phone to get recognized in fastboot. so i cant do anything in adb, i think my solution would be to get my phone to correctly register in my computer so i can use htc dev to root again but i cannot get it to get recognized. Any other ideas?

If I put the RUU in the root of my sd card it checks it twice, the first loading bar is blue the second one is green then it says update failed main version is older then asks to reboot and will do the same thing everytime
Try this

The reason you can't Ruu is because your main version is higher than that of the Ruu you're trying to use. This needs to be changed so that you can downgrade to flash an Ruu. This may not work since it sounds like a bad flash

I wouldn't normally correct you, but you do have this a little wrong. They didn't ask him to take down the site because he was hosting RUUs, but because he had a) a domain name that included HTC's name in it (http://htcruu.com), and b) he unknowingly had unreleased RUUs on there. HTC requested he give up the domain name and remove the unreleased RUUs, but they let him continue to host the others, including the custom Sense-based roms. The story is here: http://rootzwiki.com/news/_/article...p-the-ruus-just-give-us-the-domain-name-r1365. Football hadn't leaked anything in a while, but I would bet we still see full RUUs released.

I'll give you that but why would they make every other update an Ruu except this one? Doesn't make sense unless they intend on phasing the Ruu out.

Maybe but this patched style of updating is way smaller than pushing an ota to everyone. Easily half the size of an ruu.

Can't he just do a factory reset and then boot to one of the custom recoveries and re-flash the latest OTA?
cheers,
john
No op's links have broken software...I have the needed files on my dropbox and media fire account...and no all factory reset does is wipe all data and setting for ROM...and may cause custom ROMs to not boot...ota is only achievable if on stock ROM and there is an update...however I have all those proper files too

Got it.
One last question, though, since I'm not that savvy...

...I didn't upgrade to the latest OTA from a previous OTA---I was on the Global Leak---and I installed the ROM found here with absolutely no problems after manually upgrading the firmware to the latest, which is what the OP is on. Fwiw, that ROM still appears to be available via the link in Post 1 of that thread.
cheers,

that isnt a pure stock ota bud...thats a rom made with includes from it and rooted
This might sound stupid, but your objective here really is to get stockish, correct? With your HBoot you could use this ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2260154
Just make sure to flash boot.img afterwards via fastboot. This is as close to pure stock (only root added) as you can get without S-Off or other trickery. It should suffice for the requirements of the OP.

I've been trying to deal with this problem over in the liquidsmooth thread, but it's clear now that my problems are not related specifically to the rom and that thread isn't really the place for it.
I've lost all cell connectivity. Calls, texts, data, everything. The liquid rom had been working for me for over a week. I've reverted to previous roms both with new flashes and using restore files. I've tried a different recovery. Every time, it acts like I don't have a sim card.
I was suspecting that my sim might be bad, but back on the liquidsmooth thread, it was suggested that I need to RUU back to stock and start over. I'd be willing to do that except the only way suggested was really complicated. I'm S-on and it included ubuntu and the wire trick to get s-off, which I'm hesitant to do. I searched and found another thread with instructions to run an RUU while still s-on, and it seems like it would have worked except that my hboot is newer than the RUU used, and I've been unable to find a newer one.
I tried flashing the stock rom above and flashing the stock recovery that I had from when I first rooted several months ago. It still thinks I don't have a sim card, but otherwise it booted fine until I re-locked to bootloader. Then it wouldn't boot anymore. I guess it still knows that those versions of hboot, the recovery, and the rom don't quite go together.
Is there an RUU that will work with hboot 2.28 to "un-root" my phone without downloading a second operating system and performing surgery on my phone? Are the correct stock rom and recovery out there that I can flash and re-lock? Is there a way to know if that is actually the problem if if it is just my sim card? Are there any other ideas to get my phone functioning again?
Please help!

There is no RUU for your hboot, need to s-off...
If your SIM is bad, get a new one from Verizon.
Also, is the battery cover on?

On that note... Are using a stock battery cover? Some aftermarket ones are questionable at best. Also, try another SIM, Verizon will replace it free.

I tried using a friend's good sim card and it didn't work. Yes, I'm using the stock battery cover. I guess I'll have to do s-off so I can RUU back to stock.
Ugh . . . This has become so much more than I ever intended to get myself into

You didn't answer my question, is it on the phone while you're testing your connection. Dumb question I know, antenna's are in it though and I've caught people leaving it off and not getting a signal then wondering why...

Sorry, I missed that part of the question. We did it pretty quick, but I think I did put the battery cover. Also, it's not just getting no signal, there is an icon in the notification bar and a big message on the lock screen says I have no sim card at all. That has never happened before, even with the battery cover off. As I look back I realize I failed to mention that important detail. I guess it still couldn't hurt to try a brand new sim card before taking the plunge into s-off. Even if that isn't the problem, at least I'll know for sure, and as you pointed out, its easy and free.

EDIT: The official link has been taken down. If you would still like to download the RUU anyway, I have uploaded it here and here.
NOTE: For those having issues updating via the RUU (drivers, Windows 8.1, etc), see this post for an alternative install method.
NOTE 2: There is an updated RUU (4.13.651.4) which was released to some testers from HTC. The update fixes the data roaming issue. It hasn't been released officially, but there is a download link for it here and a mirror here.
Excellent! Thanks Captain
Interesting, I don't think I've ever seen an official update that voided your warranty before.
Should I be worried that it's been stuck on the "sending" screen (on the PC, Windows 7) and the phone on the HTC logo for over 30 minutes?

I restarted it, and it's going this time. No idea what the deal was, but it's working now! Loaded and first booting.
It works, the only thing is supersu. I have to fine one that works with 4.3.

Not sure what SuperSU has to do with this RUU, but you should be able to flash SuperSU fine (as long as you're using the recovery from my thread).
So to clarify (sorry if this is a stupid question), but will this keep root? Just have to flash SU after? I'm rooted and s-off right now with custom ROM.

This is an official RUU from HTC. You will lose root and custom recovery. You'll have to flash the custom TWRP from my thread or Philz's modified CWM, and then you can flash SuperSU for root. Make sure your bootloader is unlocked after running this though - otherwise you won't be able to write permanently to /system.
Thanks, captain. I figure it out. I used the modified twrp.

Can anyone using this RUU comment on if their bootloader is still unlocked after?
Still on hboot 1.12.2222 (I think) and can probably figure out flashing supersu through TWRP after I flash TWRP.
Captain, can you link your thread? I've only used your zips for flashing firmware bits, radios, etc.
Thank you,
Skid

My bootloader stayed unlocked the entire time. My thread is in OG Dev. If you flash the RUU, you'll only need a recovery.
I'm experiencing a weird problem with the update. HTC beats audio doesn't enable unless I do the refresh on the blink homescreen or if I disable it, and enable it via settings. Once it goes to another track, it turns off again despite showing the icon that means it is on. I have to repeat the said steps to get it on again. This is using the HTC music app, and Google Play music app. Anyone aware of this? This is all stock with the new RUU.

Okay, thank you. I tried searching on Google, and I did not find anything. Will they address this, or is it unlikely?

Well they knew about it before giving us the final version and they didn't fix it. That suggests to me that it's unlikely to be fixed.
Thanks for this, downloaded and I'm gonna give it a shot, I'd like to root after, but I'm a bit confused, Where do I get the modified twrp? and also a little help on how to flash it cause it's been a while I flash something to my evo and with all the keeping up with my note 2, well I feel like new to the htc evo again.
Thanks!

Yes.
i thought i read somewhere that needed to relock bootloader, so i did, caused me lots of problems trying to flash ruu. it wouldnt complete ruu, got some htc_fastboot.exe errors, had to restart ruu 3-4x...finally decided to unlock bootloader again and give it a go. completed, no issues so far, all is good again. now shows only unlocked, not tampered unlocked as before ruu
