alright everybody, I just went to the store and played with the Galaxy Note 2. I have to say I am absolutely sold on this device now for sure 100 percent! Flash Player work on it, and everything else is just awesome! words can't even describe how fluid this device really is, anybody who was doubting might as well put that to rest! go to T Mobile or sprint and go play with yourself!
I did that too. But, coming from the GNote, it may or may not be worth the 300 right now. I guess for me, I can wait till it comes down in cost.

Well, I'm getting one but only because I can get it for free. Otherwise, I'd maybe hold on since the GNote I will be getting most of the Note IIs software through updates and also, I may want to wait for the price to drop.
At any rate, I've held a Tmobile Note II but that was about it. The POS Tmobile stores over here do that dumb crap where the vast majority of phones are just on static display, so you can't play with a working model. I don't understand how that's legal. You want me to commit hundreds of dollars towards a device I can't play with so I can wisely make an informed decision??
I already purchased mine....Waiting on the shipment....Hope ya get it...Ill be seeing ya in the note 2 forums
I'm going to go ahead and say that I won't be "playing with myself" at the tmobile store, though the Note 2 will definitely tempt me....

It's really asinine. And it's not just Tmobile... MOST stores in my area that do cellular phones sales, don't have working models, including Best Buy, Target, The Sprint Store, TMobile Store, and Radio Shack. They have static models tethered to a line that you can hold... that's it. What the hell kind of decision am I supposed to make based on that? And the three working phones that Tmo had, were older phones like the S III and some other crap that no one wanted. I was very upset.

Nobody knows for sure.
Even though the hover feature does exist in the Note 1, I believe Samsung has said hover mode is an exclusive feature of the Note 2 because of hardware...so I got a feeling that Samsung won't put some of the Note 2 features in a future update, if there is one anyways.
As for the mini apps and multiview, I also don't see why not. Current apps like Overskreen, aircalc and the pop up video players work fine. I dont see any slowdown on my Note 1(not stock)

every store I have ever been to, that has these static "show" models, will always let you actually try a working one, if you ask someone who works there..I totally understand why they dont have working models on display; people would just stand there endlessly playing with them if they had all working models out there, and, the people waiting behind you to look at the phone might have a long wait just to touch it while you are "checking it out" for 30 minutes....Like I said, just ask an employee to let you try a working one, and they will get one out of the box for you to try...

Similar story..
AT&T botched an upgrade of mine and they never updated my account that I had used the update.. got my note about 3 weeks ago.. deciding if I want to use the "free" update and pick up a Note 2 and sell this one.. will break even at worse case scenario..
Don't make me get the hose!
I work at Wal-Mart in the hardware section but I'm usually called to help out in electronics to run cashier/do communications setup.
So I usually have to pull my phone out to do demonstrations to people who are unfamiliar with android.
I kid you not, every time I whip this thing out I get some kind of reaction. One guy with an iPhone, and I quote him verbatim, said "ok. It's time to switch to android."
Another funny line, two older guys were getting some prepaid refill cards and his friend mentioned to him "it's time we get a bigger phone!"
When the phone first came in the mail
I ran into the nearest phone store to get my service done the guy was astounded by the phone, because he was just reading about it but never saw it in person, gave me a 20$ discount.
Sadly most people think it's a note 2, or ironically Note 3, which isn't even released yet.
Feels good man. I don't even care for any other phone now, all I'm waiting for is the mega 2.
Share your mega stories?
One thing is for sure, Mega won't go unnoticed no matter what []
Same with me, people think it's a Note 2 or nowadays a Note 3. Once you get used to the size you won't like anything smaller. Also waiting for the Mega 2.
Most of the comments I get are negative, but these are from people that simply don't get it, stuck in the late nineties thinking that smaller=better
They don't realise that Phones have changed direction now, its no longer about cramming the required tech into the smallest, lightest package, its now about putting the largest screen possible in a pocketable device, Phones aren't all about the calls anymore, with screen based activity being more important - this is a point that many don't understand.
I have always chosen the larger devices since the Nokia 9000 / XDA days, I was over the moon with the Dell Streak, and then the Note/NoteII, each time the device was touted as a niche product that will never catch on, but now with the Mega, and even mainstream devices pushing 5" more and more people are waking up to the benefits of a large screen.
Does anybody have any idea when the Mega 2 is coming out? I just heard about the Mega like 10 minutes ago, but I see people talking about the 2 already. I had planned on getting the Note 3 next month cause my phone is just about toast. I'll wait if the Mega 2 is coming soon.

So all these people talking about waiting for the Mega 2, they are just saying it to say it? I'm going to buy my next phone without a contract and I'd hate to do that if there's another one already in the works. I can just fix my Note 1 and sit tight until the Mega 2 comes out.

I came from note 1 and have to say i love this phone. The note 3 has some more oomph and obv the spen but tbh i dont miss the spen or features.
The only danger i see is that this is obiously a design sammy does not expect to sell many of in the scheme of things so less likely to get frequent updates as opposed to s4 and n3

See I don't even know how I feel about updates and all that. I'm still using an ICS rom on my Note. I like to try different Roms and all that, but once I find one I like I'm happy. If I could basically get a larger Note 1 I'd be perfectly fine lol. Maybe if it had MultiWindow, but I think I only want that cause i can't have it lol. Thanks for your insight though bro. I'll more than likely get this one. I'm wondering how the AT&T one will perform on T-Mobile since that's who I have.

The Samsung Galaxy Mega i9205 is the LTE version and obviously it supports LTE.
But I hear that some frequencies of ATT(1700Mhz?) are not support. Don't know much more on that since I'm in the EU and no LTE here anyway.

AT&T has their own version with LTE and a locked bootloader, so no root yet. It's worth it, though.
Started from the bottom, with a Streak, then the Note, then the Note 2, got this the day after the Note 3 was announced, because I have no faith the 3 is going to be worth it. Might have processor and ram, but I find myself browsing the internet for funny pictures and info rather than trying to play the latest games with 3d graphics and whatnot. Bigger screen = better for me.

And with a screen that size, google maps is gonna make for a superior nav system as compared to smaller screen dedicated Garmins and Tom Toms.

Full 4GLTE on t mob. Check out the other posts I've made and find the screenshot of the data performance 22000mbps+!
Not bad for a "middle" market phone.

That number was confusing me each time I read it.
Most of my friends and work colleagues have joked about my Mega. Sadly, mostly negative as they just didn't really get it (that and I had some horrid tacky case on it so I guess that didn't help). A couple have liked it and my girlfriend is growing to like it too. I did get laughed at by a shop assistant when I had to take a call the other day.
Waiting for the SGH52 headset to come out and that'll be much easier for taking calls.
Another Note 1 to Mega user. I have no regrets with the Mega. As far as people's reactions amazingly I've been able to not draw attention to it yet as I guess I've concealed it well. lol People at work don't have a clue and they probably figure it's still my Note 1.
Jumping ship from iOS to come to Android but with all of the latest great Android phones out there, it's hard to choose which one to pick. I'm familiar with Android already so I know what to expect. The question is, which of the latest and greatest Android smartphones would make a good "first android phone" to really get a good feel of the Android OS.
Edit: Woops, forgot to mention my carrier. I can go with Sprint or T-Mobile.

Which carrier are you planning to use for service? As this will depend which phone you should look into. If you really want to get a good feeling for Android the Nexus 5 is an excellent choice (Not available on Verizon) with the fastest updates, pure AOSP Android and great development support if you want to get into customization. The Galaxy S4 is also a good choice (Available on all major US carriers) it runs Samsung's Touchwiz on top of regular Android, Touchwiz adds many of it's own features to stock Android. However it has slower updates then stock Android and not everyone likes Samsung's customizations. Let me know if you still have questions.

Yea, I have been looking into the Nexus 5 a lot. I actually already ordered it but with the 3 week backorder, I have time to cancel it and pick something else if I decide I like something better. Thanks for the advice.
I'm wondering, do you have a Nexus 5? Because I'm reading reviews about a "washed out" screen but I'm not sure what they meant by that exactly.
I'm thrilled with the LG G2. I spent the past couple of years on the Galaxy Nexus and I don't mind the additions to the UI that LG brings, including some great camera software and extra multi tasking options. The screen is arguably the best on the market, it comes with 32gb, tri band LTE capability, world phone functionality, a 13mp camera that is neck in neck with the iPhone in reviews, and it's only $99 with contract at Best Buy on all carriers. I believe you can get it online or in the store and get some kind of $50 gift certificate deal too.
Those that prefer pure Google Android can argue, but, like the Moto X, there really is no bloatware and LG adds functionality straight up Google doesn't have including better camera software. AND, in about a month it will have Kit Kat.
Totally worth a stop at Best Buy to play with it.

I don't personally have a Nexus 5 (I have a Verizon Galaxy S3), but in general reviews have been positive. What they mean by "washed out" is colors may not appear to be as sharp or vivid or blacks might not appear deep enough, keep in mind what appears "washed out" to someone may not be to another person as result this can be somewhat subjective.

Its about time they gave the Note 2 the respect that it deserves in my opinion this phone is one of the best smartphones out there Im on 4.1.2 unlocked rooted with philz touch recovery running Alliance Rom build 30 with the lastest Agni kernel and the phone is super fast and kicks ass so Lollipop can easily be handled by this phone so Im happy to hear the good news
Yeah this is pretty exciting news!
Hoping for an early release date, which seems unlikely though.
I was shocked to see this post and the other news sites report on it, pretty cool.

Not to mention it seems like development has slowed down or stopped altogether for this phone.

Nexus phones seem to be the next best choice.

Unfortunately I like so many others who have the "retail" version of the Note 4, are waiting on devs to get root for us.
They have temp root but that's not root at all. It goes away with every reboot / shutdown of the phone...
Now if you do get the Note 4, never take OTA updates, and get the developer edition of the phone! It's expensive though.
All things considered I love the Note 4! My only gripes are root and the battery life on Lollipop. I can downgrade to KitKat to fix that but what's the use for temp root? Great phone tho a major improvement over the Note 2.

I moved on to the LG G3. Seriously beautiful phone, great specs, and fairly easy to root and with bumped kernels it's like having the bootloader unlocked (even if it's not). So yes you can have CM/AOSP ROMs on the G3 easily.
This totally sucks. The Note 2 is one of the best phones ever created. It's a total shame to stop updating it. No real replacement exists.
The phone has been permanently discontinued now, and Samsung has to find a way to replace ALL Note 7s. So I guess this will be a run on the stores. Hopefully people can get other replacement devices, but I have no doubt there will be those that just wont give up the phone. Good luck on rolling the dice with your safety.

Thats it, there are now ::edit:: 7 confirmed fires for REPLACEMENT Note 7's. Returning mine tomorrow for most likely store credit until the Pixel is released. Or I'll have to go with the Iphone 7+ until next year. There is literally nothing that I disliked about this phone, but it seems like a :edit: 2nd recall is just around the corner.

Mine's already on swappa. Will have to lower the price and accept trades at this point. I just want it gone this has been the worst experience of my life. Is it a great phone? Absolutely. But the lack of proper QA testing is a direct result of these issues.
I was hoping to do a trade for the pixel and that's not happening which is a shame

I was also tired of all the drama with the Note 7. I swapped my Note 7 for the s7 edge yesterday since the major carriers are letting you because of the phone exploding on the plane incident. So far so good, I think it's a lot smoother than the Note 7 just sucks not having the S-Pen but oh well.

I had the S7 Edge already, and I don't want to cough up more money for a phone that I already had and sold at a major loss.
Since I can't get behind the Pixel hype, it's time I go back to Apple. Samsung needs to reprioritize. I'm done getting screwed by them.
Check out the v20

ultimately, I think the V20 is a nice phone. But certainly just cant touch the Note 7 in terms of overall features and quality. Its a tough decision. I would tell people to just get a dumb phone for cash and have them refund the difference. I mean, nothing attractive will be out between now and the next upgrade cycle I think.
Bad News Today it went Global Samsung is shutting down Note 7 for good, so everyone has to return there Note 7, so no OTA updates either.

I don't have a link, but I called at&t, and they have stopped all sales and exchanges, and many sources are reporting that Samsung has shut down manufacturing of the Note 7.
Such a sad day.

We all know that while they conduct their investigation. Doesn't mean global recall and note 7 will never see the light of day again.

A recall seems far more likely at this point than the thing going on sale to new customers. Ever since the recall was issued, new customers have not been able to buy one. And only for a little under 3 weeks have people been able to exchange their faulty ones for "safe" ones.
I'm unfortunately done with the Note 7. I tried every front to try to give Samsung my money. They just won't take it.

"Ever since the recall was issued, new customers have not been able to buy one." That's not true, I bought an AT&T N7 from Best Buy's online
store and received it last Tuesday.
I thought they resumed sales like over a week ago.
Here is the story from gsmarena.

Here is the latest from theverge
http://www.theverge.com/2016/10/9/13219878/samsung-galaxy-note-7-replacement-fire-fifth-statement
Samsung stated that they will move forward with whatever the cpsc recommends. Which most likely is going to be a full discontinue of the product and issuing similar product replacements or refunds for returned devices. I doubt they will be forced to do much more than that. And tbh they are a massive Corp, they won't give people more than probably a 20$ gift card for their troubles. They have no incentive I think to lose even more money.
What I'm curious about though is if they will begin remote wiping phones in order to get them all returned. It's pretty easy to do on their end. I doubt the CPSC will allow the devices to be out in the wild if it's determined a design flaw.
And btw all outlets have halted or have been instructed by the cpsc to halt sales of the Note 7. Some of them permanently like ATT.

Then you were one of the lucky ones. I haven't been able to from any site or store.
This sounds like a gossip site now smh.. Note 7 is in reduced production while investigating.. Not stopped.. & note 7 firmware is still getting developed. US sales are suspended till more clarity is made of the current events... Plz stop making a mountain out of mohill..... Now back to your regular scheduled programming
Directly from Samsung's Press/media website:
"We are working with relevant regulatory bodies to investigate the recently reported cases involving the Galaxy Note7. Because consumers’ safety remains our top priority, Samsung will ask all carrier and retail partners globally to stop sales and exchanges of the Galaxy Note7 while the investigation is taking place.
We remain committed to working diligently with appropriate regulatory authorities to take all necessary steps to resolve the situation. Consumers with either an original Galaxy Note7 or replacement Galaxy Note7 device should power down and stop using the device and take advantage of the remedies available."
https://news.samsung.com/global/sam...note7-while-further-investigation-takes-place
So there you go. Even if production is supposedly not fully halted (at least the battery construction portion is for sure), you cant get the device anywhere. So it really doesnt matter. I do however think its entirely irresponsible to put yourself and your family members at risk with the device simply because you dont believe Samsung's "gossip". If you or your loved ones are injured by the device then its basically your own fault at this point. Whats further disturbing to me is that people are actually trying to circumvent the safety precaution update on ORIGINAL Note 7 devices?!? Like wtf?! Do you really want to have the thing blow up? Idk, I dont mean to be argumentative or dismissive in any way but I think its a bit ignorant to push aside the fact that there may be a design fault in the phone itself. Plus, Im sure most of us can swing $20-30 for a temp phone while this blows over. Of which an ATT rep - in store - told me they would refund the full value, along with all the accessories I bought for my Note.
