Hi All
This is a quick review and an initial impressions about the Z ultra charging case
below is the link to the video with the unboxing..
The link from which i purchased is
http://shop.brando.com/power-jacket-for-sony-xperia-z-ultra-4500mah_p09950c1599d003.html
the delivery takes exactly 14 days (it was same for another guy too ) , the packaging is nice and sturdy . The case feels a bit light not very heavy and all though it states the capacity of 4500MAh it would be equivalent to 3000 as the output is just 1Amp so charging will be a bit slow . the case feels quite sturdy and good build does not feel slippery when held , all though it adds 122 Gms additional to the phone , would not feel that heavy for a short use ( could feel heavy on prolonged usage like holding it in one hand and reading or playing ) The charging button is black and blends with the case unlike others with a huge silver button,
The charging time takes about 3 -4 hours and can charge the phone from 0-78 - 85% . overall its a good buy for people who want to charge on the go without the hassle of opening flaps , you can charge the phone and the case at the same time all though both would charge very slow in this case...

That looks really nice!
I got mine last night. I'm still up in the air about it though, cause it seems a little wonky. The charging turns on and off repeatedly at times.
not working
hi i just received the brando case.
but i was unable to get it to work. is it due to my firmware? im not using the official sony firmware
im on Paranoid Android beta 2.

Yeah, I figure for $41 I've bought stupider things than a redundant case, so I bought it too. According to shipping it will arrive eventually, so I'll let people know.

Even existing standard cradle should be safe enough as it has current limit, it will take longer time to charge the battery, thats all.

Yes, you are right, but I'don't have a cradle and I'm using one of these
I was also eying for that one too. 3600 mAh, in case I bricked my battery tonight after modding. *cross your fingers*
^^ Briked the battery, classic! is it even possible?
how much time will it take to charge it.I bought the same battey
Do you bought this battery already? How long it takes to charge? Better, how long it last with normal use?
best regards
i have a 26oo mAh battery..It seems it takes a little more time to charge, and i use my pda2k for 5-6 day with 10-15 minuts of call, without using tom tom or other heavy program..
Bye bye
Davide
Hi, what means costum backcover? Can anyone put a picture of it?
i don't have that exact model. i have a 4200mah battery from ebay germany. but as you can see in the lousy quality photos (the universal really does not have a great cam) i posted as an attachment the battery itself sticks out a bit beginning about 5mm from the top and going to the very bottom, meaning, the device does not go in the cradle anymore. but it still fits the original casing. it is just 3mm thicker than the stock battery. i guess a 3600, 3200 or even 2600 battery would be even slimmer

OMG, your battery is so thick 0_0. I have a 3800mAh Work pretty well if I do not use XPU Scalar
it's true, lying on its display like in the first picture it looks like a snail
I have that same battery now, got it from ebay for $6 with free shipping hehehehe, looks odd cuz the batt is so thick and heavy but it last...
$6? you are seriously making me jealous right now. i paid 30eur for that.
with build-in 3000 mAH battery, EC21 magnetic charging cable and extendable aluminium stylus!!!
perfect accessory so far !!!

I found a swedish page with a price of all the pages on google
http://www.mobilgrossist.se/power-cover-xperia-z-ultra-cp12.html (bad warranty from this company, don't buy from them)
But that's $167..waay to much money if this is correct
I like the look of this. Only hope it has an appropriate price to match it.
around $200 (rumor said)
I emailed Sony to tell them their global websites have the dimensions listed for this product wrong
They are listed as 94x81x3 when the Z Ultra itself is 179x92x6.5
Way out particularly the hight, im guessing its 194mm
The width is clearly wrong as well though.
Is it available to buy is it in stock?

Thats an excellent find mate, thanks :good:
So in summary the Z Ultra it 179x92x6.5 and the case is 186.2x111.3x16.6
Weight is 290g. Is that for the case only? Thats heavy!!!!!!
I like the look of it but adding almost 2cm to the portrait width and 1 cm to the depth is substantial, not to mention the weight. I'll wait for a full review and maybe even try to see in person before buying.
Here is a link to the full user manual http://www-support-downloads.sonymobile.com/cp12/userguide_EN_CP12_1277-5591.1.pdf
Edit..... Im sooo annoyed at these dumba$$es.. See page 4 of the manual... You have to remove the phone from the cover to charge the cover!!!!!! If so Epic Epic Epic Fail
But on page 5 it implies you can charge them both together... Now I'm confused lol

I think the weight is include the phone. Because the size also include the phone
and I can't find " You have to remove the phone from the cover to charge the cover "
Just see you can charge cover "and" phone by AC power.

Page 4 of the manual
To charge the Power Cover
1 Make sure your smartphone is removed from the Power Cover.
2 Plug the magnetic end of the charger cable into the Power Cover.
3 Plug the USB end of the cable into the AC adapter.
4 Plug the AC adapter into a power outlet.
Although I think you're right that is just to charge the case on its own, page 5 looks like you can charge case and phone at the same time....
i hope it include that magnetic charging cable, so i can skip buying that stupid dock

I got this message in their website. So, it's not for sale now.
they told me that they're awaiting a price at the mo (asked them last week about this)
Thought I'd review one of the cheaper battery cases you might find on your local eBay or on DealExtreme or other similar Chinese/HK e-tailers for about £20-25. I got mine off eBay and it arrived well packed in its own plastic box;

Only a battery and manual in the box.
Provided manual (Chinese language on other side not photographed)
It has a velvet like backing to help avoid scratching up the back of your phone and uses the magnetic side ports to charge phone. Micro USB charging port is on the bottom.
Camera cutout is in the right place but the plastic is a little cheap, as the light leaking through the body of the case demonstrates. You can sort of see the internals at the right angle.
Doesn't block any buttons or the headphone jack and lower eyelet but covers up the sim/microSD slot which is fine as they are not frequently accessed.
On the downside, it makes it difficult to open the battery charging port on the phone because the little notch to open the door is underneath, and blocked by the case.
For me, the charging notch sits in the gap between my thumb and the phone when I hold the phone as I usually do, so I think it actually helps me grip better.
Despite the flimsy looking leg, it is actually quite stable and doesn't tip as easily as some similar cases I've had for other phones.
And finally, the battery tests, it seems to give me about an 80% charge on two different runs and takes about 2.5 hours to empty. Battery logs below.
Second run;
Conclusion,
It doesn't deliver as much charge is I'd hoped but can nearly double your battery life. The cost is a similar doubling of the overall thickness, but the curved back makes it more comfortable to hold. It also gives me peace of mind that I won't scratch the glass rear. On the downside, the plastic quality is poor and attracts smudges easily but I won't expect the thing to fall apart in your hands.
So if the price is right for you, it seems to work as it should and will easily extend your battery life.
The power case.. or any case for that matter isn't something I'm interested in...
But you've done a great job with this thread. Detailed look at the unit with imagges, and discussed every major point. Nice work!
Hi where did you buy this case?
Thank you for the kind words Hamdogg.
Impetus, I bought mine from here; http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261298963835. There are many places which seem to sell a similar product so I may go with whoever can ship it to you quickest or cheapest.

agree !
In researching the two weaknesses of the Alpha Vs. Z3 Compact I discovered
this.
http://www.expansys.ie/zoompic.aspx?i=268141
A 2500 Mah Battery and Backplate from Samsung for Alpha .
Same price as a spare Samsung smaller Battery !
Assume the Camera will be more flush to Backplate.
So what would SOT be with 2500 Mah Battery ?
Another good thing is no SD card but all Media can be backed up
and run off a USB Thumb Drive etc. apparently without loading using
USB OTG.
So the gap narrows between Z3 C and Alpha and Alpha feels really
durable, will check Z3C in Sony Store soon but unlocked Bell Canada
Alpha may be more practical for me .
let me know if u get one
I wonder how it will look. I hope they do a better job than their Qi backplate!
I'm really excited about the the bigger (thicker) battery and no more protruding camera
Google it if you want to see the back plate (I can't post any link yet)

Sorry there's only the back cover picture though, but I'm pretty sure it'll make the camera no longer protruding, although not as thick as the (ugly) wireless charging back cover

did anyone order this already?
I was about to order it, but I don't think making the phone bulkier (thus making a lot of phone cases useless) for 700 mah. That's not even a 50% increase...
If it were 2800 mah or 3000 or something, then I might consider it (though I can't imagine how thick(d) it would be since the battery is very skinny (w))
Either way thanks for the post, if this could get the phone to about 48 hours daily use I would consider it (i'd get about 52 hours out of my HTC when it was new but it had a less demanding screen and 2600 mah battery).
Will wait for results, currently as it stands I can barely get 24 hours out of my phone with casual gaming and websurfing. Thank god it charges extremely quickly at least
It's not released yet. But if it has 1/3th more capacity, it's save to say it will give you 1/3 more uptime.
Looking at the backplate it will be about 3 mm thicker than the original one, making the camera flush with the plate, imho it will still look nice and original.
If that is not enough there's still the "zero lemon" which is also coming to this phone.
It will give you approximately 1 hr and 20 mins of screen on time with 40% brightness and moderate use.
So i would say not bad since i'm averaging 4 hrs of screen on time + that extra mah will give me at least 5 hrs+ sot... hope they will release it soon.
I have not decided on Alpha vs Z3 C yet but this makes
one of the weaknesses a bit better on Alpha.
5 to 5.5 hours SOT sounds pretty good.
I hope the back is flush with Camera with this Kit -
Because if it still not flush I will think WTF,
room for a 2800 Mah ? Lol.
oh bee
çabuk bitiyodu pil ,iyi oldu bu batarya.

are somebody used this battery before, pls shere your expiriance

Beware hensk, because in those implementations (cheap chinese, mass producted),
the nominal mah, is muuuch muuuch different from the...actuall
for example if nominal is 2500mah, i seriously doubt if the actuall is beyond... 2000-2100 max
Thanks for the advice м8

nice one citymen,
dunno about you guys, but i get the felling that this device
is handling energy with a very efficient way, so, even if it has a small capacity bat. its not noticeable in everyday usage
My SS ClearCase has some crashes and not looking good anymore, so I want to replace it with Peak Design Everyday case with intention using PD car vent mount in the future because I see it's quite convenient and cool. But it's only available in stock at another city 1800km far from my city, so I cannot hand on. I have some question and hope someone has answers:
- Can I use samsung wireless charging pad when wearing that PD case?
- Its shock resistant capability is good enough? comparing with UAG case or Spigen case
Thanks

Im not sure if its actually better than UAG or Spigen cause they have been in this like forever and I feel all that years of experience surely means something. I use the one from Ringke and its really good but not sure about this case.

Thank you. Does your Ringke case has magnetic itself?
I've been using this Peak Design case since March. I've dropped it a couple times on a hard stone floor with no damage to either the phone or case. It works with Anker and Ravpower pads and should work with your Samsung pad. It works beautifully with the Peak Design magnetic charging stand and magnetic car charger. It's the best case I've had in eleven years of mobile phone use and I highly recommend it.
