[Q] Question about a folder. - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone. I have two questions to ask.
1. Can I delete the LOST.DIR folder because it's taking huge space on my sdcard (894 Mb) and what is it? (First image)
2. What is that other in my sd card that I've highlighted in my image and how can I delete it if it's unnecessary? (Second image)
The file manager I'm using is Solid Explorer.

that folder contain recover files during bootup, so i guess you can delete it, or you can rename that folder then look what happen, if nothing go wrong, you can delete anyway, hope that help, thx.

You can remove the files from the folder or even delete the folder, but if you have so many files in the folder something is going wrong with your file system.

[CM7] Free up System Rom space on Touchpad?

I'm currently running CM7 Xron ROM and I'm aware that it's 200+ MB on it's own. Any ideas how I can free some space up for an instance like this?

Root explorer. Under system/app delete cmwallpapers.apk for gaining 5mb in system. I also delete file manager, email, protips, rom manager, cyanbread(as long as your using the green theme your ok).
That should give you more then 15mb right there.
Also make sure cm setting/application/install location is set to automatic, moving larger games to SD card automagically.
You can try a cache cleaner, it check music, maps and other hogs too.

I did this to my S3. What are "system/app" and "r/w?"

System/app is a subdirectory where you move the file to. r/w means read/write. You have to temporarely change the permission of the folder so the file can be written in there when you move it.
You can also just reflash whatever rom is on your phone at the moment; just wipe cache and NOT data... should not lose anything.

If u r rooted u can download the zip, move the apk to your system/app
And move the libs to the correct location. Just extract the zip and you will see the folders and corresponding files, just copy paste accordingly, and remember to fix the permissions ( match the permissions to like files)

Archiving/zipping problem with ES File Browser...

Every time I try to create an archive or zip file from a folder I get an error saying it failed because permission was denied, refused by system.
Any ideas? I have a rooted room and I have all the settings in ES File browser set correctly...
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
I'm assuming you have the "mount file system" checked. If you do, you may have to clear data and start over. Also, make sure it still has root access. A simple reboot may do the trick. I had an issue the other day, and a reboot cleared the trouble.

So you're trying to create a zip? You're hitting select, highlighting the files, and then trying to compress?
Sent from Galaxy Note
Umm have you tried just zipping it on your sdcard and then just moving the entire zip to /system/media?

Yes, I'm long pressing on a folder and selecting compress/encrypt.
www.TheShortBusRiders.com
Well it appears to happen when long pressing a folder and trying to archive the entire folder... Weird, if I multi select individual files I can then archive.

Just tried it myself without issue. At least you found a work around.

Same with my other folders. Just wondering if there's a setting anywhere to keep the apps sorted alphabetically? Looove using folders so hoping this is possible Thanks!

Download AppZorter Lite on the Play Store, this can remove the gaps left and sort the apps by name or install date automatically.
