Phone gets stuck in bootloops - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

So this keeps on happening. I'll be running PACrom for a few days, and then suddenly it shuts down and goes into a boot loop. I go into recovery and wipe caches, and end up in an even worse loop. What's weird is I always use the same restore I have, and it'll run fine for about two days. After that, I'm in danger of going into the cycle again. Any idea why it seems to happen spontaneously?

Custom kernel or stock? Have you checked the thread to see if anybody else is having similar issues? Have you tried flashing another AOSP ROM to see if you have issues with it?

I was having the same problem with Dirty Unicorn.

Stock kernel, and some people had issues with later versions. But I'm using the earlier one, so there shouldn't be issues. I went to DU last week, but upon doing the APN fix, I again got stuck in a loop, so I had to go back to my old backup.

Rezound experience so far, thoughts welcome

So I ditched my Thunderbolt for a Rezound. Unlocked, rooted, patched firmware, flashed Superclean ICS. Seemed to have some data issues, so I cruised around some more, got S-off and re-flashed new firmware, hit a couple more ROMs and finally loaded the latest ICS leak RUU. Everything either had intermittent data loss, random reboots, battery drain issues, or just really bad memory management. Finally I reverted back to stock, which seems to be working fine, other than intermittently dropping data connection. I'm beginning to wonder if the data loss issue is due to flashing Superclean after patching firmware, instead of fully updating it.
Have you tried ineffabilis deus?

As long as you're wiping the phone between roms, no, flashing a rom wouldn't cause that problem with other roms. By any chance is the back off when you're having these issues?
Performed the same process not to long ago and I can't say anything went wrong outside of the latest RUU having awful screen on battery life (or maybe that's just me)
it went this way for me XD
unlock, custom recovery, (WIPE) -> ics rom, old firmware patch, (oh darn this didn't upgrade it to the latest version), relock, flash the newest ruu (twice), custom recovery again, (wipe) flash rom AND the image in hboot, S-off, happy times
~ upon flashing my rom the 2nd time, i had no data seemingly, a lot of force closing, and some odd battery drain
the fix was zipalign, permission check, and wipe cache/dalvik cache to be safe, the data picked up after a half hour or so
Also try to do a factory reset in stock recovery. Has fixed data issues from jumping around to different radios and firmware.

I did factory reset, though not from hboot as some posts suggest. Is there a benefit to that?

No, I do know the antenna are in the back cover. Though it's usually the little things we forget.

Factory reset through HBoot has been notorious for fixing data issues specifically data dropping in and out, 4G switching back and forth to 3G. Makes swapping out firmwares even more of a pain in the ass because you need the stock recovery in order to factory reset in HBoot. On a side note having the back cover removed will kill your signal as all the antenas are in the cover.
Okay, so my data issue was a hardware problem. was still dropping after a full stock reversion. After four hours of Verizon reps trying new sim cards and messing with my network profile, I have a new phone. Let's try this again...

Have you had any problems with your replacement? Cause I've had an issue with my data dropping out completely on my stock rezound. I've been through 2 replacements and I'm on my third, which is still doing it.

Was having similar data issues on rooted stock, where my data would just stop working and would require a reboot to get it back. Opted to install Nil's Business ROM based on latest leak. Had a hard time getting the 4g to work initially but after applying the GB patch a couple time and a couple hard resets and reboots, I have not had my data drop even once.

Rezound dying?

Hey,
Like many of you I have been trying out the new sense 4.0 roms as they come available. I usually end up back on bamf's 3.6 rom without issues through my nand backup.
Recently, my phone started freezing up after going back to the 3.6 rom. This never happened before. I tried flashing a new rom instead of using the backup and it keeps happening. Now, any rom I try ends up freezing, randomly restarting, and then after it restarts it will continue to bootloop showing only the white HTC screen.
My phone is s-off running the newest ICS leak. Not really sure where to go from here. Any help is greatly appreciated!
Since this isn't specific to any rom I made a new thread, feel free to move if this is the wrong area!
That's weird bro. Not sure why. I switch all the time between gb And ics Nd sense 4 with no issues. Maybe run the ruu again

I will say I've had the same issue, on ics leak phone froze and would only boot to white HTC screen. Try the RUU.exe, you will have to s-off though. I still don't have working wifi yet, and can't flash the ics leak.

OP, All you need to do is flash the firmware patch or proper kernel. Your phone is rebooting when gmail tries to sync, when you press a button that makes a noise, or when you get a notification?
It sounds like your issue is that your running a rom and firmware that don't match up. Just let me know what your firmware version is by booting to hboot with power+vol down
To the guy above that can't flash the ICS leak and doesn't have wifi, I'll help you fix it. That sounds like the kernel you installed and the roms base don't match up, like for example if someone flashed a new sense 4 rom and flashed a sense4 PH98IMG.zip from an older base that wasn't out of the newest rom.
Both of you send me a PM and I'll help you fix it.

Radio wont turn on!?! HELPPPP!!

ok so I was running viper 4g 1.0.0.0 and everything was working fine. I then decided to flash cm10, the 8.20.2012 build, and I ran that for a few hours, everything worked great and I loved how fast the Rom was. Long story short I was browsing the web this morning and suddenly my radio shuts off, I wait a moment and then it turns back on, then shuts off and turns on intermittently. I get annoyed after 20-30mins of this so I restore my backed up viper Rom. Well now the radio on this isn't working either....someone help me please!! I also know sprint is doing work on towers and I live in the san antonio area, but I know its not them cause I'm posting this from my girlfriends EVO 3d! HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!

Did you follow the proper steps to go back to a sense Rom?
I have yet to do it but the part about using superwipe and flash image gui seem pretty important

I have been on these radios since before the roms I was using. But I reflashed them hoping it would do the trick, and it didn't. Still not working.

Restore your phone from a backup you do have a backup.

Forgive me if I am wrong but it doesn't work that way when going to cm10 or back
I thought it was a mandatory deal to flash the cm10 boot IMG prior to flashing cm10 and flashing sense Rome boot IMG prior to going back to a sense Rom
Like I said...highly possible I am wrong but I recall reading that

My 3g has been cutting out alot too. Sometimes I have to go to settings and turn off the radio and turn it back on. I'm not on cm10. Could be network rather than phone.

Roaming only problem...

So I had the problem where my phone was stuck in roaming and ended up having to RUU back to stock and everything was dandy. Now... when I install a custom ROM again (in this case, the Google Edition for HTC One) the problem happens again.
Any suggestions? Am I flashing wrong or something? I've flashed ROMs sooo many times on my DNA and other phones that I can't imagine it's something as simple as that... but I can't think of any other explanation.
HELP! :crying:
I think it happens randomly when you flash stock roms. I think you're just having bad luck.

I think with the Google play edition ROM you have to go to mobile settings and switch one of the prefences to the sim card.

Evo V stock ROM

I am giving this phone to my friend, and he needs to activate it on his account. It doesn't work doing it on the rom that I have. So I just need a link to the stock rom that actually works. All the links I have found are dead. My device is S-OFF. Thanks in advance!
Its not pure stock, but you can activate and update prl and profile

Gah! It's stuck at the boot screen. I realized after that my battery is low though. Also I'm using EXT 1.0.0.5 RC 3, and RC 5 is out so I'm going to charge my battery, and update my recovery. Perhaps then it will actually boot haha.
That ROMs been around for a while, so an old recovery should work fine. The ROM also boots any hboot
Sent from my Evo 3D CDMA using xda app-developers app
I updated 4EXT, and I still am getting stuck on boot. I have wiped everything and tried installing multiple times. If it works on any HBOOT then I don't know what my problem is. Last I had on it was PAC Rom 4.3.
I'll keep messing around and try to get it to work. I'm not new to flashing roms by any means, but HTC devices are always so finicky.
You could try flashing boot.img through fastboot.
Check md5 to ensure a good download

Thank you! I don't know why I didn't think of that. It is actually working now. I appreciate you working with me on this issue. Now I can get it activated and switched back to PAC. My friend thanks you as well.
