[HOW-TO]Disable Many Stock Apps Safely WITHOUT Root - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 General

Disclaimer: I am in no way responsible for any damage to your phone or frustration if anything goes wrong. See post #2 if some functionality is lost or if you cannot boot.
Many apps can be disabled that are built in for various benefits including battery life and performance. Here I will show you how, and which ones in particular I disable for a maximum gain from chipping out Verizon's bloatware on this device.
1. Navigate from your home screen by pressing your hardware menu key - Settings.
2. Select Application manager
3. Here you will see your downloaded applications. By swiping 2 times to the Left, it will bring you to the ALL tab.
4. a.) Here is where you be careful! Carefully make your selections and pay attention.
b.) I disable the following apps as a template for you but some functionality is lost. See post #2 for which features are lost, and which apps to re-enable.
c.) Select the application by taping on it. Then select the "Turn off" button.

So ppl start calling me from unsaved phone numbers and their name popped up! I was shocked to see this, and figured out that it is the app named Caller Name ID
I disabled it for now for battery life etc but out of curiosity, anyone know if Verizon charges for this service?

Another bloatware list for reference.

What happens when you choose to stop, it says the application will be replaced with the factory version?

Google Voice Easy SMS - Send & Auto-Receive SMS free via Google Voice [v2.0, 5/21/10]
Important Announcement:
Hey everyone, thanks for the support over the last year. This app was a great learning experience for me, I enjoyed the challenges it presented and learned a lot in the process.
I've now moved on to and Android device (and if you are able, I encourage you to do the same!). Thus, my development and support are both officially finished. This application is wholly open-source, and if anyone out there wants to pick up where I left off, please do (under the conditions that the app remains open-source and you retain my name as an author).
Thanks
===========================
After 5 long months of working on it, Google Voice Easy SMS 2.0 is now released to the public, for free, like always! Send and automatically receive Google Voice SMS right on your phone over your data plan!
I've not been able to find a free application for Windows Mobile that allows easy text messaging (SMS) via your Google Voice account. I wanted something easy to use that also pulls from the phone's contacts list. So since I couldn't locate an app that suites these needs, I created one. After all, I’m a broke college student and I want something to give me free outgoing messages. Speaking of being broke, if you like what you see, consider donating via PayPal. After all, I'm probably saving you a good deal of money on a SMS package from your provider! You can do it right from this page on my website:
http://www.mattslifebytes.com/donate
Anything at all would be greatly appreciated!
Website & Download Location: http://www.mattslifebytes.com/?cat=7 OR http://tinyurl.com/googVSMS
Please don't mirror the installation file, just link to the above URL. That way current versions get distributed. Thanks!
Important Installation Note:
Once you have downloaded and installed Easy SMS, you'll need
to enter your Google Account information by going to 'Menu' -> 'Settings' -> 'Google Account Settings'. Fill in the info, then do 'Menu' -> 'Check for Messages'.
New In Version 2.0
Pretty much everything is new!
Easy SMS is now a full suite application. You can both send and receive Google Voice SMS through it for FREE.
All bugs with the old 1.x series have been fixed.

Features:
It's free. Who doesn't like free stuff?
Sends messages via the data connection, meaning your outgoing SMS costs you nothing
Interfaces with your phone's contacts list
Connects directly to Google via SSL to send your message, no man-in-the-middle servers that could potentially harvest your Google Account password
Signature support
Send to multiple recipients at once
Easy SMS is completely open-source! Want to have a look? Just click through to my website for the download.
Requirements
Windows Mobile based device; software has been tested on versions 6, 6.1, and 6.5, but the program may work with other versions.
.NET Compact Framework 3.5
A Google Voice account
Cellular data plan or WiFi connectivity
If your cellular data plan charges by the kilobyte, be sure to keep track of your usage; this program uses very little bandwidth, but don't try to blame data charges on me
You must abide by the Google Voice terms of service when using this program
Google has a bad habit of changing the way stuff works without letting people know. If you find that this program suddenly stops working, it could be because Google changed a setting and broke the way this program works. Check the blog site for info on known issues and patch releases. I'll try to post here with that stuff too.
Want to make calls easily via Google Voice from your Windows Mobile phone? Try iDialer and iContact, visit http://supware.net for those amazing programs.
I've tried to be very thorough in testing, but you never know. Find something odd? Tell me how to reproduce the error and I'll try to take care of it. Toss me an e-mail.

Excellent job!
This is exactly what I've been looking for since I found out google incoming sms could be routed to an email address. Thanks so much!

Google voice only sends in the USA and accounts are only available to people in the USA so no it's not going to work outside USA.
I like small URLs This is the same as above, just easier to type in
http://tinyurl.com/googVSMS
The app works BEAUTIFULLY BTW
Combining this with the "Swype" keyboard, SMS is so much better now

Which communication error do you get: bad Google Account username or password, unable to get value of '_rnr_se' key, or unable to send message(s)?
The program tries to open a few URL connections via the OS networking components, and if you have a data connection it really should be working. My only thought is perhaps Google's methods that I am using aren't accessible from outside the USA or something. If that turns out to be the case, I can program a workaround by bouncing the request through my own web server first, that way it originates from a USA IP address.
Can someone send me an invite for google voice please? PM me please
This app looks really cool. Would be great for me because I have a 300 text/month limit.
Thanks for the app. I just want to clarify, this app only send SMS via google voice and incoming text is still received as a regular text, is that correct?
Thanks.

That error means that the program was able to log you into your Google account and get your authorization key, but when it tries to send the message Google didn't allow the connection.
Can you browse to https://www.google.com/voice/sms/send/ on your mobile device? You should get "Forbidden Error 403". Also where is your physical location currently, and who is your carrier? Thanks.

There's just two next to press on this, is this the first one or the last one?

The second one, after entering server details. But it doesn't matter, I'm just using the hotmail app at the moment, although it would be nice to get it working with the standard mail app.

You can try also the m.hotmail.com (let me know if it work)
Are you sure there isn't any empty space between your login and @outlook.com?

Yeah it's ICS, using MIUI for the Sensation, but it's the same App so that shouldn't matter I don't think.
Just tried m.hotmail.com and it worked, thanks!
Is there a way yet to use the alias outlook addresses to sent out mails using using this method ?

After having trouble earlier this week as well, I finally got the account to work today with only having to input my username and password.
I got mine working on 3rd party email apps by going through POP3, then entering pop3.live.com, and smtp.live.com for the SMTP section. SSL enabled on both.
I tried to do that..but it kept saying "Server error" ...I figured out that the server for live mail is snt-m.hotmail.com ...and it worked !!! Thanks for the solution
The info colected here might help a lot. Tried myself to find this info a few days ago and most Google results pointed to outlook express or something.
Thanks for sharing.

How to remove account linked to your stolen phone for play store?

I don't know about tracking your phone, but head here and:
Change your password: Security->Change password
Remove any Android stuff from authorised applications: Security->Authorising applications and sites - Edit
After that, your phone shouldn't be able to sign into your Google account.
Thanks a lot for the info.
Just a quick question. I saw some on my list which had "Android" and something more, don't remember, plus I saw "Android - full account access" or something. Does it mean if I remove the list, it will definitely totally remove my account on my old devices which was stolen completely off?

Unfortunately, your account won't be removed from the phone (so data like cached Gmail emails will probably be still visible), but the phone will not be able to sign into your account to download apps etc. (especially paid apps), read your new emails and so on

Install this on your next device
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lsdroid.cerberus
It's a pretty amazing app, I have it on all Android devices in my stable. It's EXTREMELY powerful and easy to use at that. If I were in your current situation and had Cerberus onboard, I'd login via Web interface, activate tracking, lock the screen, then set it to take a picture with the FF camera as soon as the phone is touched. Once the screen is touched the pic will be emailed to your gmail, then I'd activate the alarm and have a message that says, "I know where you are...." flashed on the screen along with the screeching alarm sound. When they try to stop the alarm, another pic would be taken.
Once the pics are done and the fun with the alarm and message is over, I'd remotely wipe the sd card and begin trying to make way to the phone. All else fails send the wipe phone command and then call Sprint and report it stolen so they kill data and voice services.
Good luck man!
Kid you not, it's simple to do all that, even from someone else's phone.

Seems to be working well for me. I stayed connected for ~4 hours this afternoon on EasyTether. I ran TuneIn Radio over it streaming in the car. Also I connected a set of bluetooth headphones seperately to see that the data connection doesn't interfere with media.
It does, however, prevent use of any apps like Tablet Notifier or Tablet Talk.
jd
I paid the $10 for the full version to get all ports. GMail works great and I stayed connected for over 8 hours before manually disconnecting.
Yes I did get your message. I have to test it further at some point but never use mine as a companion so it's not high on the list.
Battery life is great with Bluetooth being on all day and connected with EasyTether. It looks like I can get at least 10 days on the TS tethering from my phone.
Before Tether (Wifi Only)
Tether over Wifi
Tether over 4G (Samsung Galaxy S3)

The PC program for EasyTether is for reverse tethering from your phone to your computer.

yeah i was confused about that. So not needed then. Still have to set up the xposed hack so it spoofs wifi while on bt. I assume that is what will get gmail and the rest to work normally. Thanks for the clarification!
When I attempt to use EasyTether, I get an error message saying that the firmware has a bluetooth permissions bug .. contact the manufacturer of the firmware...
I'm running CASUAL w/ security fix.

Suspicious apps in my apps section. (Facebook App Installer and Facebook App Manager)

I just noticed (Facebook App Installer and Facebook App Manager) in my all apps section under settings. I tried looking it up but can't find anything. It doesn't have the Facebook icon next to it but has the Android icon. Seems very suspecious to me. I looked on my girls phone and she doesn't have it. I was just wondering if anyone else has these two apps installed also. I'm currently running Android 6.0. Thank you

I had them. They are default with h901 mm. Not sure about lollipop. If you are rooted you can uninstall them with a file manager, or use titanium backup to freeze or uninstall them. If u use Facebook ( I don't ) then you can always just install the playstore version.
I'm not rooted yet so I can't uninstall them. I contacted Facebook about this a few days ago and have not received a response from them yet.

Facebook is pushing updates to its app through these now for interim updates. It lets them bypass the app store for bug fixes and staged feature rollouts.

Thank you for your quick responses. Facebook still hasn't responded to me. I'm thinking about deleting the Facebook app and just logging in through their website.

K so I disabled facebook, deleted those two apps with ES file explorer, and everything looked good. Then I restarted my phone to see if anything popped back up and one of them did.

Check it a few hours later and this is what it looks like

How did you delete them when your not rooted?
In ES file explorer the apps were in the user apps section.

****tards at Facebook trying some shady **** as usual. The thing is, I don't even use their ****ing network, yet somehow, I ended up with it getting installed, and promoted as a system app overnight. Don't be surprised if they don't respond to your feedback, mother****ers don't care about anyone. All they want is to get information about you, which they could sell to who-the ****-ever they want. Immediatelly disabled all their spyware, and you should do the same.
You need ROOT to remove the Facebook garbage
All apps can be found in the /data and /data/data folders in Android but you need ROOT to access, alter or delete from these areas.
Smokers
Hello. I was looking in my apps to delete us less stuff and I noticed the same thing, FB, FB app,FB app mgr. With the little droid icon. I feel violated.

Hey guys there's a way how to get rid of these ****ty apps
Head over here https://www.xda-developers.com/uninstall-carrier-oem-bloatware-without-root-access/amp/
This way you can uninstall any so be careful, anyway after factory reset all will be back as on new device.
These aren't Facebook! Well it is, but not directly. These 2 are system files that manage/download files that are connected or used by other apps on your phone. Say you're sharing a picture, hyper link, etc to facebook because that system app has the option to do so....that's what these 2 things do
Actually, one of those two Facebook related apps checks the SHA sums of the installed Facebook app itself which I believe is to verify that a Facebook app from another source cannot be downloaded or side-loaded.
I believe that this is because the factory installed Facebook app has some configuration files which uniquelly ties it to the device it was shipped with as well as the phones owner.
I also believe that these Facebook related system apps only appear on devices where the Facebook app comes pre-loaded by the device manufacturer and is part of what Facebook calls the "Facebook Experience" and these embedded Facebook apps share your Facebook access tokens with the device manufacturer and others which allows them to access all your Facebook data.
Even with the Facebook app deleted these other two Facebook related system apps were still using data in the background.
I highly recommend users deleting their Facebook accounts and use ADB to remove Facebook and the other related apps from the user 0 account if they don't have root.
Why do they choose who/ what device to place their Facebook App Manager & Facebook App Installer process onto? Is it random or targeted towrds people that are labled under a certain unknown criteria. By the way I used to not have this on my phone but another thing I used to not have on my phone is a notification of how i am using a special version of android. Dunno what's so special about my version other than I know I deck out my ohone but android version is only changed when an update is ready for it. And yes two same phones on one family plan yet phones are so very different and other family members phone isnt a special version. But now the other device now has these two Facebook Apps as well. What's up? Oh yeah, off thst topic onto a new topic, my messenger was just logged into by an unknown device at 11:55PM. And no one just logs into my sh!* therefore do we have a new Facebook data breach?
If you've ever wondered what the Facebook.app.manager app is, or if you have it installed on your device, you're not alone. This app is a pre-installed app that comes on most Android devices. It's designed to help manage and keep track of your Facebook account and all of its associated data.
The Facebook.app.manager app is essentially a one-stop shop for your Facebook account. It allows you to see all of your account information in one place, as well as manage your settings and preferences. You can also use it to access other features of the Facebook app, such as Messenger, Groups, and Events.
Overall, the Facebook.app.manager app is a helpful tool that can make managing your Facebook account easier. If you're looking for an easy way to keep track of your account data, this app is definitely worth checking out.
