I followed this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=48950150&postcount=2 and I was able to get internet access using bluetooth on my US 1/8 TS from my SIII on T-Mobile 4G. I installed the EasyTether Tablet and the HackConnectivity module on the TS and EasyTether on my phone. So far its working great; it has been over three hours and no disconnections. Play Store and Internet browsing all work.
Working apps that were tested:
-Browser
-Play Store
-Gmail: Auto-Sync and notifications working
-Email: Auto-Sync and notifications working
-Hangouts: Auto-Sync and notifications working
-DropBox

I believe it should because the hack is faking WiFi from BT but I'll install GMail and test it now.
Cool, thanks. I think I tried EasyTether and couldn't get Gmail working with it.

Gmail wasn't connecting at first, but somehow after I setup my yahoo account in the Email App, I saw a notification from Gmail to allow access. After I allowed, gmail started showing my emails. Gonna leave both email apps running and see if I get alerts for new emails...I have automatic-sync enabled for all accounts.

Seems to be working well for me. I stayed connected for ~4 hours this afternoon on EasyTether. I ran TuneIn Radio over it streaming in the car. Also I connected a set of bluetooth headphones seperately to see that the data connection doesn't interfere with media.
It does, however, prevent use of any apps like Tablet Notifier or Tablet Talk.

I paid the $10 for the full version to get all ports. GMail works great and I stayed connected for over 8 hours before manually disconnecting.
Yes I did get your message. I have to test it further at some point but never use mine as a companion so it's not high on the list.
Battery life is great with Bluetooth being on all day and connected with EasyTether. It looks like I can get at least 10 days on the TS tethering from my phone.
Before Tether (Wifi Only)
Tether over Wifi
Tether over 4G (Samsung Galaxy S3)
Thanks for this app !!
cool, installed both apps without doing the x-posed hack and got internet to work (except for gmail). Didnt install xposed or install the pc program as per the post, maybe i'll do that later

yeah i was confused about that. So not needed then. Still have to set up the xposed hack so it spoofs wifi while on bt. I assume that is what will get gmail and the rest to work normally. Thanks for the clarification!
When I attempt to use EasyTether, I get an error message saying that the firmware has a bluetooth permissions bug .. contact the manufacturer of the firmware...
I'm running CASUAL w/ security fix.

Hi. I just bought a Tab 8.9 (and boy do I love this thing). Being an avid Tab 7" user though, I'm kinda missing the phone functionality (I was aware of that beforehand).
What I didn't know, that the 8.9 is perfectly capable of receiving and sending SMS on its own. That was a pleasant surprise up until I noticed NONE of the SMS forwarding apps in the market that I'm aware of are supporting this tab. I planned to use my primary SIM card in the 8.9 tab and use it for everything else short of actual phone calls. But I usually leave the Tab in my car and/or home when I go to shops, visit friends and such. I would still like to receive incoming sms at those times.
On my SGS2 I used a program called "Phone Control" to achieve this (SMS arrived via gmail even when I left SGS2 in the dock at home/car and had another phone with me). But Phone Control requires a dialer to use and isn't listed as compatible with the tab anyways.
Is there an app that forwards incoming SMS to email (preferably GMail) that works on Honeycomb, specifically Galaxy Tab 8.9"?
I'm trying to achieve just one simple thing. On incoming SMS, the device would automatically forward it via email to my gmail account. Nothing more, nothing less.
Have you tried DeskSMS?

Hello - can you try PhoneLeash (Android Market, free)? Its targeted at 2.2/API 8, so your Tab should be fine. G'luck!

I guess it has something to do with the Tab not being a phone, although capable of text messaging. I guess Android Market looks at permissions and if it has anything to do with calling/dialing/messaging/etc, it automatically disqualifies Android 3.x devices not explicitly allowed (like the new 7.x" Tabs, for example). This is just a guess though, might be something else.

Thanks for trying ... I _think_ I know what could be going on. PhoneLeash looks for a number of capabilities, but all except one are optional: "telephony". I could send you an APK privately, and if that works for you (and doesn't break on other phones) we could post the update on the market. Let me know via email to support -xATx- gearandroid -xD O T-x com
Mail sent. I'm always willing to help devs, that's part of why I hand around here
Hi folks:
PhoneLeash v 1.5 is now posted to the Android Market. I am little tired now, so with your permission I will forward you to this post, as well as to this detailed review from a helpful forumperson (and response).
@ AnttiV: PhoneLeash can now forward to SMS destinations (another phone, Google Voice, Skype) and in this mode there is no need for email-to-SMS capability. I think PhoneLeash is the only app that worked on your Tab 8.9 so I am hoping this will help somewhat.
Hi folks,
I have tried out the PhoneLeash v1.5. The sms forwarding function worked in my Xoom with Android 3.1. I suppose the other apps will catch up, but as per now, it might be the only one working with Tablet running Honeycomb and without the telephone function.
Hi folks - PhoneLeash 1.7 is now on the Market.
Here's some details on new features etc.
Many new features, but the SMS to email link is really good now ... we've tried our best to make an SMS look and act like an email, when in email. Threads are retained and turned into Gmail conversations (when forwarding to Gmail). The "email" sender name is the name and/or phone number of the SMS sender etc.
You can even export SMS to email, and create a mirror in the email world. Looks like this.

The second one, after entering server details. But it doesn't matter, I'm just using the hotmail app at the moment, although it would be nice to get it working with the standard mail app.

Yeah it's ICS, using MIUI for the Sensation, but it's the same App so that shouldn't matter I don't think.

After having trouble earlier this week as well, I finally got the account to work today with only having to input my username and password.
I got mine working on 3rd party email apps by going through POP3, then entering pop3.live.com, and smtp.live.com for the SMTP section. SSL enabled on both.
I tried to do that..but it kept saying "Server error" ...I figured out that the server for live mail is snt-m.hotmail.com ...and it worked !!! Thanks for the solution
The info colected here might help a lot. Tried myself to find this info a few days ago and most Google results pointed to outlook express or something.
Thanks for sharing.

I don't know about tracking your phone, but head here and:
Change your password: Security->Change password
Remove any Android stuff from authorised applications: Security->Authorising applications and sites - Edit
After that, your phone shouldn't be able to sign into your Google account.
Thanks a lot for the info.
Just a quick question. I saw some on my list which had "Android" and something more, don't remember, plus I saw "Android - full account access" or something. Does it mean if I remove the list, it will definitely totally remove my account on my old devices which was stolen completely off?

Unfortunately, your account won't be removed from the phone (so data like cached Gmail emails will probably be still visible), but the phone will not be able to sign into your account to download apps etc. (especially paid apps), read your new emails and so on

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lsdroid.cerberus
It's a pretty amazing app, I have it on all Android devices in my stable. It's EXTREMELY powerful and easy to use at that. If I were in your current situation and had Cerberus onboard, I'd login via Web interface, activate tracking, lock the screen, then set it to take a picture with the FF camera as soon as the phone is touched. Once the screen is touched the pic will be emailed to your gmail, then I'd activate the alarm and have a message that says, "I know where you are...." flashed on the screen along with the screeching alarm sound. When they try to stop the alarm, another pic would be taken.
Once the pics are done and the fun with the alarm and message is over, I'd remotely wipe the sd card and begin trying to make way to the phone. All else fails send the wipe phone command and then call Sprint and report it stolen so they kill data and voice services.
Good luck man!
Kid you not, it's simple to do all that, even from someone else's phone.

Hi,
The XDA forum has always my resource for problem solving, but being fully stuck after an upgrade to the Resurrection Remix JB 3.1.3, I'd like to take the opportunity to post, I think my 1st thread. I hope that I am posting this at the right spot, but if not, my appologies.
So, I upgraded my SGS2 from the "old" DLev Rom, 2.3.5 based to the RR 3.1.3, and I have a number of issues. For the upgrade I used exactly the steps prescribed on the RR page, and I hope that these apply to my situation, DLev 2.3.5 to RR 4.2.1.
1. After doing a Titanium Backup restore, I get each time after booting a "exchange service lost" error. The Wifi icon looks like split in 2, and I get the message that access to email is lost. This is weird, as I am not at all using an exchange server, only yahoo and 4 IMAP accounts. As I found out I can however recover from this error by explicitly opening my K-9 email.
2. As I found the RR launcher a bit poor, I started using my LauncherPro. However, in configuring, and more in particular in adding shortcuts to the screen, and scrolling to select an app, the S2 locks up, and a reboot is the only way to bring it back to life. Is it a compatibility issue, or is it something else?
3. And thirdly, I am unable to synchronize with my gmail account. I always get the message that the Google sync is having problems, but they will be resolved soon. Have tried all recommendations given by google, unchecking the to sync items and rechecking them, but Iacnnot get the problem resolved.
Any advice is greatly appreciated, and I'll be looking forward to getting reactions.
In checking my Dropbox, I noticed the message "SYNC OFF". I checked the whole settings page, but am unable to find the settings for sync, or a config to auto-sync.
This might at the same time be the reason for the Google sync issues. Does anyone know where this setting is hiding?

Download the stable Root Box Rom v3.9.1 (based on android 4.2.2) from the link below and flash the same after a full wipe
http://goo.im/devs/RootBox/RootBox_i9100_jb/RootBox-JB-i9100-V3.9.1.zip
Ps- also dwnld the 'Gapps' package from the link below and flash after installing the Rom.
http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20130301-signed.zip
Thanks for the recommendation but before going to another ROM, I rather figure out why I am having these issues. And by the way, the RR is awesome in power and speed. I flashed it a 2nd time today, but the same issues.
If I could just figure out where that darn sync button is hiding, Anyone know?

I sadly enough don't seem to get many responses. Well, here is my next finding.
I'm pretty busy with too many projects, but I took some time to google Jelly Bean issues, and one high up the list is the sync.
Two ways to enable the auto-sync:
1. Settings > Data usage. Hit menu button and select auto-sync. And for me, auto-sync was already enabled. But not doing it's job.
2. Power Control widget, enable auto-sync. Strange enough, the auto-sync was enabled with with under data usage, but not in the power control widget. I enabled it, went to check the accounts, google and Dropbox, and no change. Google sync problems and Dropbox, sync is OFF.
I rebooted. Same situation, no change at all.
So guys, I am getting back to you all. Is there another hidden setting to enable the sync?

Hi, and thanks for the response. I gave it a try, but sync is still OFF. I do have to add that I unchecked the option to upload all existing pictures/videos, as I don't need 99% of the pictures and videos in my dropbox account. Is this option maybe also key?

And the story continues.
I did a test, and scheduled an appointment in my Outlook. And, apparently a sync was done, because my mobile gave me the alarm.
I uploaded a test file to my dropbox, went to check on my mobile a while later, and the file was present.
So what the heck is happening. Dropbox sync stays OFF, the Google account gives sync errors, but even then, the sync is done.
After a reboot I also still get the Exchange server error.
Does anyone have any info?

Many apps can be disabled that are built in for various benefits including battery life and performance. Here I will show you how, and which ones in particular I disable for a maximum gain from chipping out Verizon's bloatware on this device.
1. Navigate from your home screen by pressing your hardware menu key - Settings.
2. Select Application manager
3. Here you will see your downloaded applications. By swiping 2 times to the Left, it will bring you to the ALL tab.
4. a.) Here is where you be careful! Carefully make your selections and pay attention.
b.) I disable the following apps as a template for you but some functionality is lost. See post #2 for which features are lost, and which apps to re-enable.
c.) Select the application by taping on it. Then select the "Turn off" button.
