Why would you want to use Android on this phone..WP7 is a beautiful OS. The more it sells the bigger the draw of devs.

I doubt Android would run very well on this device since it needs a nuclear power plant to be smooth and even then...
What tha? (Facepalm) My phone is an Android phone, and I still don't get it. The operating system is the best thing about this phone.

I have been wondering seeing as Microsoft sort of screwed us out of Windows phone 8 on the first gen devices. Would it be possible for the community to Port it to the lumia 800 or will or be impossible due to the New kernal?

Only if the kernel can be ported i would imagine.
I rooted and unlocked the bootloader and am running the wonderful CM 10.1. A week ago all was well, but now I can't get my PC (one running 8 and one running win 7) to recognize the phone or its SD card. Last night I installed the new 4.00 HTC Drivers which are compatible with Win 8 but with no success. I loaded HTC Sync and it can't find the phone either. It does not show up in Windows Explorer as it did a week ago. I've tried different cables and different USB ports. Very curious.
Any thoughts out there from all you nice folks who are a lot smarter than this old duck?
Thanks!

Thank you, sir.
I appreciate the input and I'm sure you're correct. I've been experiencing other pc-related problems. Will get right on it and let you know the outcome

I've been googling toys for days, all my drivers are up to date as far as I'm aware, the phone connects perfectly when booted normally if I just want to sync something, but when I'm in fastboot, I get to the get_identifier_token command and it just says waiting for device indefinitely.
Oh, apparently Windows doesn't recognize it in fastboot

Still no luck, probably gonna give up soon, the universe wants me to stay stock. Might as well have an iPhone .__.

Then your drivers are messed up. Fast boot works fine even on my other machine with Windows 8.

Windows 8 sucks. I'm glad I have other machines to use for producing and stuff.

Yeah one of my machines has 8. I'm thinking about putting 7 on it. Windows 8 is for children.

Which drivers should I look into? The HTC ones are freshly installed and work when the phones on normally, and USB works fine for everything else

So what's the problem?
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4
Im having the same exact issue with my phone, and Im running windows 7.
Ive tried using both usb 2.0, and 3.0 ports, tried suing front, and back ports, USB debuggind is enabled, and I've tried with fastboot both enabled, and disabled.
I've tried removing ALL my android related drivers and reinstalling the HTC ones with no success.
Yet whenever I disconnect my phone while it;s in bootloader, it get a popup on my PC for a failed driver installing for a "HTC MTP DEVICE".
Had the same problem, Had to do THIS fix, and no problems anymore
So I got an email today from HTC or Verizon. Can't remember which one. It says that the HTC one M8 comes in a Windows Mobile version. Does anyone know if we can port it?

I don't think anyone would try to port that over. Getting a m8 rom is hard enough to port down.
Ok. Was really just curious anyway. It would be cool to dual boot but not as a replacement OS.

@abadasstanker69
Would you or anyone want MIUI ?
I'm not a HUGE fan but its nice to have choices. MIUI seems too iPhone-y to me. Although the newest version (6?) I've heard, fixed that and made it WAY more customizable.
I like the WinMo option the best because of the integration with ms games and office365 etc. If I could dual boot anything it would be WinMo and android. I did that for YEARS with my titan. WinMo for work, android for home. It was awesome.

I think you mean windows phone. Windows mobile is dead. It would be nearly impossible honestly.
@Flyhalf205 if it's easy enough to bring across then having a lot of variety of roms is always great. A lot of us lot are flash crazy so I would be happy.

And I only think windows option/request is popping up from HTC bringing out the new HTC one m8 windows phone. In my opinion I doubt it will do brilliantly as I do feel windows phones have dropped in demand...

I would love to have miui again. I've ran it on every phone I've owned that has been android. And I see it's on all of the other HTC Ones, just not the max. I've tried porting. But I can't seem to get the coding down right. So just keep wishwishes developer would eventually get to it.
