I want this because it shows that it is slightly higher around the camera so the camera doesn't get all scratched up. I'm worriee about those metal strips though. I'm afraid they would just peel off and it would look terrible.
Does anyone have it? How is the quality? Do the strips seem like they would fall off?

the lens on my back cover cracked when dropped a while back, and to get a good photo i now have to remove the back cover to get the obstruction off... is there anything i can buy short of a whole new back cover? all i need is a sticky piece of glass like the one that comes on the original cover...
thanks!
Why don't you just take a piece of plastic and work on it with sandpaper? You could even use some cd jewel case. The material is usually fragile but if you make a cut on its surface with a sharp knife it will tend to brake along this line. So it's fairly easy to break it down to a rectangular shape roughly the size of the camera cover and work with sandpaper or a file until you have a proper shape. Putting some sticky paper cut to shape of the cover on the plastic (preferably on both sides) will help in achieving the proper shape and will protect the surface from scratching.
Just look around the hose and be creative - i'm sure you'll be able to find a piece of clear, non-scratched plastic somewhere If you feel that the cd-case plastic will be too soft and will scratch too easily you could apply a piece of screen protector to it. It sure isn't worth buying a new screen protector just for that but if you already have one on your phone you could use a piece of it to protect camera cover and get a new one for the screen
As for attaching the cover to g1 back cover, there are many ways ranging from glues to double-sided sticky tapes. Use whatever you have at your disposal (just stay away from cyanoacrylate adhesive aka super glue - its vapor will ruin the transparent plastic).
a new back cover is cheap, like $6.

what is your phone model? Different phones have different camera lens with varied shape. A camera lens can not be just replaced by a plastic stuff as the guy said above and it is a prttey tough thing to shape the plastic. an original camera lens does not much. It may be no more than $1。
Looking for a knock off (read: cheaper) version of this case. Main points im interested in are;
Completely flat back side (open around camera, thickness of the case should provide protection)
Single piece construction (i HATE the two piece snap on covers)
Thin overall construction (add only minimal bulk to the phone)
I have a TPU case and it would be great if the back was flat, the raised part around the camera causes the phone not to lay flat on its back, easy to rotate when sitting on a table and using it. The snap on cover i bought is constructed in a similar fashion, raised area around the camera. I believe the thickness of the case will be about the same dimensions of the protruding camera. Also, 2 piece clip on cases suck. Single piece, one click.
I feel there is acceptable quality cases out there, just tough sometimes to find the exact style. Thx guys.

I figured something out to hold me over. As i suspected, the thickness of the TPU soft case is just barely thicker than the amount that the camera protrudes. A little time this morning with my pocket knife and voila!
You can buy a TPU case with a camera cut out. It will have a much cleaner look. You can probably buy off what for a few dollars.

What you linked is like the Case Mate Barely There Case. The only difference I notice is that the Body Glove version has a flat back side. The Case Mate has a bump out for the camera. If you are fine with the bump out, check out
CaseMate cheaper version
I got this and the other one listed on the site. They are the same, this is slightly more expensive.
Other Case Mate version, slight more $$
Both are extremely thin, minimal difference in size when holding the 3VO naked or with case.
Have you left the camera bezel as is or have you covered it up with something?
When I got the phone I was worried about it getting scratched up so I took a screen protector and cut out a square to go over the camera of course I also cut out a hole for the camera to see through but for those who have done nothing do you find the bezel or camera lens has gotten scratched up?
I guess I would also like to know about the silver bezels which go around the width of the phone - scratched up from daily use?
No issue here, but i keep the device in my jacket pocket and never in my pants pocket.
Especially levi fabric...(sand paper )....g
First 4 months i had a flip cover on my phone so it was protected a little bit. Last 5 months has been naked stock cover. No issues at all. Carry it in front pocket all the time. Of course it was mostly summer so it was in shorts pockets but have carried it in my jeans pockets numerous times.
from a galaxy far far away....
no scuffs or scratches... but the battery cover has some pretty good signs of wear. the silver trim around the lens also has some wear if you look closely but the camera cover does not have anything

for times when I dont have my Otterbox Defender case on it (rare), I have a Skinomi body skin protector on it and the Martin Fields screen+camera protector!
Full body coverage x2! the Martin Fields camera lens protector fits PERFECTLY, and from my own before/after experience, doesn't cause any visible distortion.
Ok here is the deal.
I normally use a gel case on my phones. There fit the phones well and cover everything that needs to be.
But they make the phone a lil bit thicker and hide the phone. Normally I get a phone and want to see it for itself.
Well I brought a metal bumper and it looks nice.
But I see that the camera sticks out and touchs when sitting it down.
My girl says that the camera screen is glass and won't break or scratch, but I still like for the phone to not sit on it.
So I am wondering if there is anything I can put around the camera to protected.
I was thinking of something like a form pad so the camera wouldn't touch but idk.
I know some will say get one of the charger back but then it makes the phone thick and defeats the point.
Whole new lens cover assembly cost about $6 on e-bay and shouldn't be difficult to DIY, but you could get some small piece of thick one sided foam tape, cut it to shape and stick around the cam, why not. If it gets dirty or comes off, make new one. Personally I have not seen anything like that commercially, wait, actually there is lens mount you can glue around cam, it comes with small tele lens that you can attach on top.

Yea I saw the replacements on eBay for like $10ship and I'm a tech person so I can replace it no problem.
And I didn't thing about the lens. I know they have a metal ring.
I'll check into everything.
Thanx.
I have a metal bumper also. I had an extra home button sticker that I sticked near the camera lens. Now when I lay flat down it doesn't lay on the camera lens.

I use skinomi clear skin. They include a skin for the bottom half of the camera. When my phone is laying flat the lens doesn't touch. As a bonus since you're using a metal bumper, the side skins can act as an all around protection between the bumper and the chrome trim. Much better than what the bumper comes with. But you will probably need to remove the ones on the bumper first as it will become too thick and the bumper won't fit properly.

I am updated to Kitkat, unrooted. so s-view no work for me. Thats why I took the front flap of my white spigen slim armor view out, and let the back side on on white note3 ... gives it some kind of a z10-ish look.
coming back to the point, my case does the job well, apart from protecting the sides from scratches, by keeping the camera lens from having contact when lying flat. well, quite a hefty investment if you want to protect your lens only. but since I already purchased it, it does the job decently, and I dont find it that much of bulky. anyhow, bulky or not, to me - this is a question of habit. i mean, now that I look and take a grasp of my old i9100, it seems very small now, which wasnt the case some months back my two cents

Yea i got a normal gel case for the phone. I have always use those without problems but i got a bumper for the note 3. It just feels better, so trying to keep the phone slim.
I thought about putting a dot of hot glue somewhere around it to lift it up. But i just didnt wanna do that to a new phone.
I want a square that would fit right around the camera and stick to the back plate.
Ill keep looking
the replacement lens piece is like $10, just something to think about
Hi!
I'm currently using a Z5 Compact with one Slim TPU cover (Orzly Flexi-Slim Case). But I'd like to stop using a case.
The only thing that worries me is the camera, which is bit exposed.
If the camera was scratched by laying the phone at a desk surface, I'd like to know if it's possible to recover it replacing only the back cover.
Does somebody know if the back cover also includes the "glass" area of the camera? (I assume that it is possible to repair this on a Sony store or something like that, without loosing the warranty, right? Paying money)
thanks and best regards,
Sebastian.
So you're thinking of using the Z5C with a naked back, then?
The camera lens is not part of the main glass back of the phone. There's a circular cutout in the back that allows the camera lens to poke through. (The flash lens, however, is part of the glass back).
That said, the camera lens has a little silver-coloured ring around it, and the lens itself is set back. When you have the phone sitting on a desk, the lens will be raised above the surface slightly. Unless you regularly set the phone down on sandy/dirty surfaces, it'll probably be ok.
If you're really worried, you might want to look into getting a tempered/hardened glass back protector. That'll raise the camera a bit further off the desk without making the phone much thicker.
FYI, the camera lens cover is made of plastic, so you should definitely try not to scratch it. I personally use a dbrand skin, so it's slightly raised above the ground.

No wonder my outer lens gets so easily scratched. I have these mystery blemishes even with a case on... luckily the blemishes are located away from the camera lens itself. So is replacing the entire back the only solution to replace this "plastic" lens covering?
