LG and TMO are not going to do it. We'd rather spend our energy on either
a) 2nd-int rom
b) somehow find out how the lock works and a way to unlock

Signed it.

Another note. Sony is also more focused on the European market than the US. It's over at Phonescoop. I'm too lazy to look for the link....lol.

All this time spent trying to get a new method for unlocking this bootloader could be spent doing the little bit of research and using the guide for noobs.

Better way is to all go live support and ask for official way to unlock our BL.

I am not lazy. I have unlocked the bootloader of many phones. My previous Galaxy II for example. And before that, I had a Sidekick 4G.
Do you have a T-Mobile P769? Did it ship with ics or jb? Why not share the details of what you have and what worked for you?
That is much more constructive than calling people lazy. BTW, read my posts in the Unlock Bootloader for Noobs thread and you'll see that I'm not the only one having problems. Ask @omgbossis21.

Locked bootloader Im confused

I hear all this and that about our phones having a locked bootloader. but im confused on how can this be? I have added root, custom stock rom, custom recovery, kernel and so on a day later after having it. The only thing that I havent been able to do is install aokp or cm9. Is this the problem with our bootloader. If they were possible, heck lock all bootloaders for all im concerned.
Palm to face.

You obviously don't understand what a locked bootloader means to us, so please research this. And encouraging a locked bootloader? NO!

Need Help in Rooting this Baby!

I have some question regarding to rooting the DNA. I used to root a lot of android phones except HTC, especially Droid DNA. I follow all the threads but still no go. My question is this whether I need to unlock bootloader first before I can root the DNA. I tried every lead out there to unlock bootloader but was unsuccessful every time. Please help!
Search for jcase's method of unlocking the bootloader. If I find the link ill post it

Hanging out in the IRC room I see approximately 1-2 per day. Always the same thing, not following directions. Make sure you copy and paste the commands DO NOT TRY TO TYPE THEM YOURSELF. I see people brick all the time because they typed the commands themselves and missed something. Also if you see anything that even SLIGHTLY resembles an error, go to the IRC room and ask for help. DON"T REBOOT. Sorry for yelling.

I know you could root the Galaxy S3 without unlocking the bootloader. Does anyone know if I could do the same on the DNA? I want to use some apps that require root access but I don't want to void my warranty by unlocking.

Firmware OTA update 1.29 AT&T

bnicsk8guy said:
This morning while I was simply just surfing YouTube I got a prompt asking me to start downloading a firmware update. I accepted and let it download but have no idea what it is. It's a 228 mb file. When it finished downloading nothing happened. Went to the AT&T Software Update menu and it says "Continue Update" but when I hit it nothing happens. Anyone have a clue? Could it be the 1.29 update?

I figured out how to push this update download from AT&T and then manually force the phone to update. It's basically just tricking the phone. I would write a detailed guide on this but I don't have the time because I have work and bills to pay. Donations would help though

Likely all he did was Force Stop/Clear Data on the Google Services Framework and push check for update a couple of times or some other equally easy/well known method of force checking an update.
Or (most likely) he's a pathetic piece of crap that's begging for money on xda for something he's made up.

Well you guys have echoed the sentiments pretty well here.
OP, we don't hold information ransom for monetary remuneration. We do this because we love development and helping others.
Normally I would say something humorous and sarcastic and close with a zing, but today I am going to kindly ask that you re-read the rules and realize that this is a live and close community, and as you can see from the replies here the community does not take kindly to efforts to extort money for information, files, beta access, or anything like that.
We are here for further mobile development and maybe have a bit of fun while doing it
Thanks for understanding.

It's more of a process to root and s-off an ICS stock bolt than it was to do so on GB, but it's possible. You may have to create an account to view the guide, but I know it works.

Sites like that always obscure the facts to increase views. JB is being worked on by at least three developers, but, as has been in the past, getting data will take time due to the RIL on this phone.

I know you can pay to get it rooted at halfcab123.com its just a little pricey. Its what I used when I first rooted. I went back to stock twice after that and rooted myself those times. The ICS root isn't really too difficult but be patient and you can get it without paying.

Downgrade back to GB then use Revolutionary before the auto update. I have the update.zip on dropbox and will post the link once I am home if someone doesn't beat me to it.

Really??? Pay somebody? It's pretty easy man. First option, as pointed out by somebody previously, downgrade, root, etc; second option http://www.thunderboltforums.com/fo...how-gain-root-s-off-after-taking-ics-ota.html Just pay attention to what you're doing and it won't take long (unless you're new to this) and you should be on your way.
Sorry just realized how old this was, my apologies.
Never pay someone to do something that you can do yourself for free.

Sad News For the P769

So i decided to ask LG if we actually do have an unlocked BootLoader and if we did how were we supposed to unlock it and this is what they responded me with....
Dear Carlos,
Thank you for contacting LG Electronics.
Unfortunately in USA models boot loader cannot be unlocked as a carrier request. USA models, even though they look similar to the international modes, have carrier specifications on their software. Due to their request that’s why we are not able to unlock it.
Once again thank you for contacting LG. In case you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact us again either via email, or by calling our customer service division at your convenience. Have a wonderful day.

That's true, kuma.. Personally I read for a couple of weeks, over and over all that was needed and how to recover from mistakes.. It helped so much reading all the posts, what works, what doesn't. I'm very greatful to everyone that went before, and the crazy devs for pushing the envelope and figuring things out.
The current unlocking process may be complicated, but it works, if you take time to read(and read again).

I want to unlock SO BADLY but I get stuck after I flash, I don't know what to do ahaha xD
The current unlock method for TMO P769 is so convoluted and it seems rather risky... Risky and destructive enough, I will probably not bother. How likely do you think a decent/proper unlock method will be found before the end of the year? I really dislike the stock UI and limited theming options/etc, came from PACMan on my previous phone and this is rather disappointing for a phone with such solid hardware.
Its looking pretty unlikely and I think I might just sell this phone and go back to Samsung where they tell the carrier where to shove it when they ask for a locked bootloader. Shame on LG for complying with this... Sure, they aren't Apple or Samsung but I think they could have pulled it off. At the very least they could have snuck some hidden method like HTC with the wire trick for S-OFF into the US version.
