Electric Shock While Charging - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

I've recently been experiencing electric jolts from my phone, especially when then phone vibrates while charging. At first I thought the jolting sensations were due to tendonitis but soon realized it's definitely electricity. Just wondering if anyone else has been experiencing the same thing.

Sounds like you have a faulty charger... get it replaced ASAP because that's not normal at all.

[Q] High pitched noise coming from charger?

Has anyone noticed a high pitched noise coming from their charger? I finally pinned down the sound today. It stops after unplugging/plugging in, but returns soon after.
Once and a While
it only happens to my charger once and a while , for me, I noticed if I leave it unplugged for about an hour it stops.. Idk what makes it happen tho..
It happens when you unplug it from the gpad.
It happens to me even when the Gtab is plugged in
I haven't written this in a long time and it will help bunches of folks:
Notice that the model number on the charger is MPA-630.
If you Google that you will find it is not too hard to find and not too
expensive if you need one. I believe it is commonly used with digital
picture frames.
Rev
My charger has been buzzing as well. It really bugs me. Im wondering if it has anything to due with the led light on the charger. I might try and take it apart tonight.

[Q] Charging problems

So, as soon as I got my phone I installed a full body zagg. Also, I use the Moto car dock every time I get in my truck. Well, as my luck would have it, I pulled my phone out one day and the insert that you use if you don't have a case on was pull out by my zagg. This wouldn't be a big deal, but I swear to God it just went poof and disappeared.
Long story short, now my phone seems to be having a charging issue both in the dock and with just a cable. When in the dock, sometimes, it say that it is plugged in and then unplugged almost endlessly. When I plug in a regular cable it works fine unless it is in certain positions.
So, now to my question, what are the odds that the absence of that spacer has caused my usb jack to break because of the lack of support? Could I clean my phone up enough to get a warranty replacement? Phone is unlocked was running Alien 3, trying CM7 now, and is on At&t.
Thanks guys.
i bet that is your problem. i know when my phone gets hot it also says it gets unplugged and replugged a lot, so something there may be happening,
if you can flash a fuitcake that should be everything you need to do before sending it back
Thanks for the advice marko.
This issue is really odd. I have noticed since my OP that it seems to not have the issue if I place the phone in the dock before I start my vehicle (before the dock has power). This makes me think that it may not be hardware, but I'm still not sure.
Anyone know of anyway I could test this theory?

[Q] Defective phone chargers

maybe I just have bad luck, but the charger I got with my thunderbolt and the charger i got with my stratosphere both seem to have issues. or it's the power in our house.
with the thunderbolt and the stock HTC charger, the touchscreen would be much less responsive after a half hour of charging or so. when i'd type a text, it'd miss half of the keys i pressed. if i unplugged the phone and plugged it back in, it'd be fine for a while. so now i have a stratosphere, and it's worse. the touchscreen basically fails while it's plugged in and using "multitouch visualizer 2" if i place two fingers vertically from each other, the touchscreen will spaz out.
everything is okay if I charge through USB with either cable, or if I use my old motorola droid charger.
my thunderbolt has a few problems, mainly 4G barely works anywhere vs 4G working where it should with the stratosphere. 4G used to work on my thunderbolt and verizon is sending me a replacement. the touchscreen is also much less responsive than it should be. sometimes there will be dead spots on the touchscreen until i turn the screen off and on again. does anyone have any idea what the problem could be?
i also tried a droid 3 charger with my stratosphere and it has the same problem. if I plug an ipod into the stratosphere's power "brick" thing, it has the problem also. pinch zoom in the browser is either unresponsive or jittery until i hold a metal part of the ipod. the charger was plugged into a surge protector for this.
there are other posts online about this problem with the original droid, epic 4g, incredible, and ipods, but no one really found a solution besides to use the original charger which worked in most of their cases.
It's the outlet in the wall. I've had this happen on all my Android phones but only with one specific outlet that has a short. It does exactly what you described, screen becomes un responsive, freaks out, and my phone usually gets really hot too.

what if it happens with three different outlets? i'll try more and some at school on monday. i mean i wouldn't be surprised if our whole house had issues. haha.
edit: it's definitely the charger. i tried a ton of outlets and it does basically the same thing in all of them. i try a working charger (so far besides my droid 1 charger, an LG VX5500 charger works perfectly) and have no problems in any outlets.
this is happening to other people too: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?goto=newpost&t=1346784 (samsung)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1345728 (HTC)
is it not that common of a problem, for only a few people to notice it? i think i'll go to verizon tomorrow to see what they'll do about it. i feel like the HTC charger messed up my thunderbolt, but VZ is replacing it at least.
i'm at school, stratosphere is plugged into an APC UPS and i can't use the touchscreen at all unless i unplug it.
also i've never had any heat problems from having it plugged in.

[Q] Battery Temp Issues

So, I've been getting this notification that the battery temp is too high so it stops charging my Note. I have no idea why right now, but I'm looking into it. Just started a thread wondering if anyone else is having a similar problem. I'm using the OEM charger and cable. I've tried this both with the OEM battery and the gold 3250 battery. The phone is in a flip case on my bed and I feel like that may absorb the heat causing the temperature to rise, but I really have no other ideas beyond that. Anyone got a clue as to why this is happening now? I've been charging the phone on my bed for about a month and this just started happening recently.

Mines fine here also in a fitted case gets warm a little but nothing major id send it in
note @ 1.83
I would definitely call warranty. I wonder if something is stuck running in the background that would require intense CPU/GPU power (like Google navigation).
Its common on my other phone while in the car dock using Google navigation to briefly stop charging. The phone being exposed to direct sun light and heat from charging and navigation is too much. A built in protector stops the phone from charging when its too hot then resumes once it cools etc.

I'm telling you, call warranty. In no way shape or form is your case causing this. I have a TPU case on mine. Way more restrictioning than a simple flip case. Mine never does this.

i think the original charger can cause this too. i'm using a rubber casing which i bought just around the corner and this sometimes occurred to me as well.
When charging and operating the phone at the same time, the phone heats up at a higher temp. Theres no doubt as it did with my previous iphone and gs2.

charging is patchy

hi my phone has recently had charging issues. i don"t think it is the cable as i have tried many cables and it does the same thing with all of them. Basically what it does is that it will stop charging for an instant, and then it will continue to charge. like there is a broken connection or a short. the weird thing is that i can start charging my phone just fine and set it on a table and without touching it or anything moving it at all it will do this. Some times it will stop charging up to 10 times per second. and my phone vibrates like crazy. could this be a software issue? Or is it almost definitely a hardware issue
I unfortunately experienced a similar issue which eventually resulted in my being forced to resort to Samsung's factory warranty...not once but twice...turned out being a intermittent short within my factory samsung charging cable..basically heated the phone internally eventually melting the circuit to the rear camera. After troubleshooting the cause after receiving phone number 3, I determined that any use while charging taxed the transformer causing it to heat up severely which over time damaged the cable and eventually killing the cam circuit... one way to test yours would be to go into settings, battery, and disable (fast charge)... if problem goes away, replace your charger/cables for equipment. if it remains, it most likely damaged the charging circuit (resistance usually makes it intermittent preceding complete failure.).any other cable will work and for the transformer. Any 5.0vdc at 2000mah will work for normal charging if using fast charge you need one that supports the technology (look for "adaptive fast charging label) throttles voltage up to 9vdc while slightly reducing the current...
as a final note: if you don't wanna replace your phone every few weeks, I strongly recommend using fast charge mode with your device powered off... Samsung engineers seriously dropped the ball calculating the current /heat.

That's weird... I've never had any problems using fast charging mode on my phone, nor have I had that charging problem that the OP is experiencing. I guess I got lucky with my device. It's horrible how rushed Samsung was getting this phone out on the market...

Granted, probably didn't help usually having memory intensive games and apps running in the background while charging but like you said "rushed"...I figure if I purchase a product with fast charging...it should be capable of doing exactly that with no "conditions" other than environmental ie:leaving in a hot car...
