Hey guys.
As you may know Google Music All Access isn't released in Sweden yet, if it even will be. This is very frustrating, and I'd like to try it out.
I've been reading up on this, and it seems like a lot of people are doing it with proxies. How does this work? Is it enough to just sign up for it with a proxy on my PC, then I can run it on my phone? Or do I need a proxy on my phone as well?
I tried finding one, but I couldn't find a guide to how to do this.
Furthermore, is there any risks doing this, such as risks of "punishments" from google etc?
Thanks ahead of time!

I have the AT&T 8525 which I believe is called the Hermes, but I've heard about a million names for one device I'm starting to get confused. Any way I successfully unlocked my SIM/CID and now I'm looking to update my rom. I use T-Mobile and would like to get it set to the most basic factory settings that T-Mobile would use themselves so I can use all the features on my phone. At this point I can hardly receive messages, cant get into T-Zones, or anything.
I did do a search of the forums and on Google and I couldn't get any clear guidance on what to do. XDA is freakin awesome and I know you guys know the right path.
Any help is appreciated.
I just installed BLACK and its working great. I havn't tried any of the other roms, but don't think I want to.
I'm still having major issues with ActiveSync though. It seems like any time I change something I have to delete my device and restart it. Basicly I think ActiveSync sucks.
Hi all,
I have been trying for weeks to get the IM.apk on my htc hero by installing it through appinstaller and pushing it through terminal. I also put the ImProvider.apk, TmoImPlugin.apk, com.android.im.plugin.jar and so on. I have tried everything to get it working. All i want is the native IM app that has msn and yahoo because it was my favorite on the G1. I use google talk but i also want the official IM app. Anyone figure out a way to do this? I have been at this for weeks. Please help me, thanks

PLEASE!!!!
Anyone knows how can we install this IM?
Thanks...
Just an FYI, but it's largely a waste of time unless you happen to be a T-Mobile US customer since it doesn't work over cellular data for the more common protocols (AIM, MSN etc). If you are a T-Mobile US customer, it will "work" via a cellular connection, but does so using SMS messages - if you have any other carrier SIM, it will complain that it cannot read your phone number.
If you just want to use if over WiFi - it works fine.
There was a hacked version of this floating round the Dream forums some time ago that did allow proper cellular data instant messaging, but I've no idea what happened to it.
Regards,
Dave

Actually, this is being worked on at the moment by inkredi and myself. Progress can be tracked through the thread that inkredi linked to. Both of us have some ideas, but not a ton of time to work on it. I'm fairly confident we'll get it working 100% fairly soon though.
I'm currently using the latest MiniCM7 on my X10 mini.
The one app I'm really missing is the official Natwest App. It doesn't appear in the market on my phone and if I look it up on the android market on my computer then I am told it is incompatible. I'm just curious as to whether people on other ROMS are able to download it? Maybe I could modify something to make it compatible.
Apparently a lot of people have had similar problems, trying to run a UK banking app on anything other than a stock ROM.
I had a quick Google hunt about this and quite a few people suggest using the app, Bank Control, which apparently works with Natwest as well as some other banks. Some have talked about editing the phone's build.prop as well.
Not much help, I know, but hopefully this may be useful to you.
I've been reluctant to try Bank Control as its not officially supported by Natwest. I've finally given it a go and now can't register with it for some reason.
I'm interested in modifying the build.prop. People seem to have had success on other phones by editing the ro.build.fingerprint. Could somebody post that line from a stock X10 mini so I could give it a go? Or could I use the ro.build.fingerprint from a different phone without it affecting anything?
Well, I could..but it might be easier if I just gave you the whole thing and you can pick the bits you need..
I've had to zip it because .prop files can't be attached here.
Worked like an absolute charm, thanks a lot!
In case anyone searches for this I changed the ro.build.fingerprint line to
Code:
ro.build.fingerprint=SEMC/U20i_1238-7173/U20i/delta:2.1-update1/2.1.1.A.0.6/-X_d:user/release-keys
Didn't have to change anything else.
No problem, I'm glad it worked out.
Hello, I wanted to know what the Benefits of rooting an Asus Transformer Prime would be if you are not going to flash roms?
For me....
I only wanted to use proxydroid. I have a proxy server that need domain auth.
But since I routed it, I'm amazed by other applications that needs root access. From simple overclocking apps to more complete backups.
In the end its what you want or need. I needed to use a proxy server and if asus doesnt want to add that function fine... but then dont blame me for rooting mine..
Perhaps searching this forum, or searching general android forums will give you the answer more quickly.
kind of an open and big question.
the main answer is, more freedom to do what you want with certain applications.

I really just want to do A2SD, which I can do on my EVO 3d without rooting, is there a way to do this on the ASUS 300?
Hello and welcome to my 1st post!
I have been doing a lot of scouring this site's forums and guides trying to find my answers, but to no avail, but apologies if this is in the wrong place or has already been asked/answered.
I have recently purchased a cheap android tv box which has someone's custom rom etc loaded on it, running Android gingerbread 2.3.7.
I would like to use it for streaming video from websites and using some uk tv service apps, for example 4OD - so nothing to strenuous.
I have been trying to root the device in order to get some apps to work, and to generally learn more about Android, however the firmware seems to be really locked down already to prevent this, there is no option to turn on usb debugging as there is no developer tab under applications for example!
All the 1-click, no PC type rooting apps i have tried have failed as well.
Can anyone offer any advice how I can do this, or reload a more open rom onto the box, or anything really!
There was no manufacturer or anything on the outer case, but I have attached 2 screenshots with all the info I can find out about what kind of device it is and what it is running.
I realise this has become a bit of a long ramble, but I really would appreciate any help going, either by reply or PM.
Thank you very very much.
