I think he was trying to say that this display kind of looks a little bit like a lcd and amoled in one. I kind of agree actually. It has the whites of an lcd and color saturation sort of like an amoled.
I love this screen, it's a good mix of everything.

I am very happy with my LG G2 D802 (Software version D80210a-EUR-XX).
But I am not impressed by the viewing angles of the screen. I am coming from Samsung Galaxy S2 with a Super AMOLED screen. The G2 screen is very nice, but I notice immediately that brightness drops whenever I slightly angle the phone to one side while reading, which happens naturally.
I don't know if there are different kinds of screens/display panels in different versions of the G2, but the one I've got does not have impressive viewing angles.
I saw the HTC One S (I think), an older and cheaper phone, and it had excellent viewing angles. Even from very wide angles, there was very little brightness loss.
I will keep the phone, it's the best phone I've ever owned. I just wanted to give my opinion about the viewing angles in this thread.

While true that it loses some brightness at angles, you never really observe the screen from those angles.
My RAZR with amoled was the same.
