[Q] Can't Find TWRP Recovery - AT&T HTC One (M7)

TWRP Recovery works well. The other day I noticed that on the list of backups I was missing my initial "clean sense rom w/ root" that I made the day I installed custom recovery. I had made 3 other backups and they had vanished. I figured they were accidently deleted. I backed up my device twice within two days. I went to manage my back ups and noticed that my two recent backups were missing and the 3 original backups were on the restore list. I also notice that my storage was low. I had 15 gigs used up. I don't have much media on my phone so I assume its the phantom backups. The TWRP file only has 3 backups on it. those 3 files do not add up to 15 gbs. I can only surmise that I have 6 or so back ups on my phone and only 3 are showing up.
My questions: (1) Does TWRP backup to another folder other than the TWRP file? 2) Can I delete all of them and start all over again?
Thank you for all of your help.

TWRP Not Recognizing Nandroid Backups
Sorry for my characterization of the problem. Essentially TWRP is not recognizing past Nandroid backups. These past nandroid backups are taking up needed space. I downloaded ROM Toolkit and found that I have 7 nandroid back ups, but the TWRP folder only shows 3. Where are these nandroids located on my device? How can I delete them?
Thank you

Did you look under 0/TWRP/BACKUPS?

I'm sorry to hijack your thread but I have the same dilemma. I made a new backup today and I can't find the files. I browse the phone using ES browser but nothing. I copied my original backups to my computer. In TWRP recovery, I see the two files that I created today. What is the actual process of restoring my phone without copying today backup. Please any suggestion will be gladly appreciated.
Thank you.

I checked under the path you recommended but the recent files are not there. I see the old backup only. I can see the files under the Recovery>twrp>restore.

Nevermind, I found the solution. The problem is that the ES file explorer does not have root access to /data folder. I enable root access in ES file and there was the following folder: /data/media/twrp.

Titanium backups gone after ROM install

Hello,
I recently got bored with my old ROM on my GIII so I installed a couple new ones today. On the final one I tried I no longer have a single Titanium Backup file on my SD card. All restore items show 0. I know these all worked and existed because I restored them earlier on in the day and all was well. I then installed my current ROM and nada.
My question isn't about getting these files back as its apparent they are gone (super sad), I double checked the sd card in windows and the only thing is all my pictures/videos and a single file for TB for the license. My question is is, will this occur in the future again? Do people have flaky luck with Titanium Backup? Each of the rom installs were done the same way, boot into recovery, delete data/cache, install from SD etc. I did it the same way both times. I just dont want to get burned again because whats the point of even backing stuff up right?
Has anyone had luck with the Cloud feature on Titanium Backup, does this work??
Thanks.
Did you flash an aosp/cm Rom? If so they are probably hidden down in sd/0...... if you have Phil's recovery fire up the aroma file manager and move then to root of sd card (move the whole folder)
---------- Post added at 03:12 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:10 AM ----------
Edit that.....normal file manager will do, I thought you were stuck in recovery/no access to nandroid, just realised it's titanium backup your after....same might apply if you were on 4.2.x or cm/aosp

Same thing happened to me.
Where did the backup go?!?!? Was it backed up on the phone and not on the SD card? That would be dumb!
The TitaniumBackup folder on the SD card is EMPTY and the "detect" found no backup files
SUPER SAD, I lost ALL phone numbers!!!

Titanium Backup - Won't backup anything

Edit - First issue sorted. Now have a new one.
Backup everything and put on a new ROM. Went to reinstall it all and selected all data/apps and it just says on 0%. So just did apps missing and exactly the same. Sos just did one app and same issue just freezes on 0%.
any ideas what might be the issue?
Just installed TB Pro and was working fine on my s2. But on my s3 it just sees the overview tab. Nothing else.
Have reinstalled it, installed busybox and upgraded superuser. And formatted the external SD card as its also showing
Backup directory: Not available
It has been rooted so not sure what the issue is, any advice would be great.

If you haven't got a backup on your phone yet then I'm guessing it doesn't create a directory until you actually create the first backup
Thanks for the quick reply.
Managed to get it sorted. Took a while to find the external SD card.
It was under mnt and extsdCard.

so it detects the backups now?
have you tried restoring a single app (not batch)? and have you tried it without data? (i never restore google apps data, only the apk/app, as they sync the data from google anyway)
You say you have updated / installed busybox BUT you know TT has its own? have you gone into preferences-trouble shooting and checked force system busybox?
same as above for SQLite?
do you have directory bind or a form of apps2sd (forgot what its called on the sgs3)? if so you might want to check follow all symbolic links...
FINALLY if all else fails you can set the app processing mode to auto indirect, or interactive... again try with just app and app n data (you can even try restoring data AFTER the app installs)

Yes after selecting the External SD and a reboot worked fine. And did a full system backup.
Then after a reset and installing a new ROM i went to restore and stuck on 0%. I tried just a single app and still nothing. (apk)
You say you have updated / installed busybox BUT you know TT has its own? have you gone into preferences-trouble shooting and checked force system busybox?
Yes i knew TT has it own, but thought that might have been an issue with no seeing external sd card. Since restoring it have not installed it since. As it is now not installed i have not ticked that section, but thanks for pointing out as would have missed that.

Have not installed SQlite, or dont think so.

[Q] Messed up my TWRP backups

Just got the phone today, and right away I rooted it and loaded the Google Play Edition ROM. Everything went smoothly. Then I decided to move the backup I made of the stock ROM to my computer because it is so huge and just keep a Google backup on the device. So I deleted the files in the folder /TWRP/BACKUPS/8e0b378a/1969-12-31--19-11-41. But when I then went to try to backup my Google it kept failing. I tried deleting folders, and then later adding everything back, but nothing helped. It looks like the problems are:
E: Storage partition "//TWRP/backups/8e0b378a' not found
Updating partition details…
E: Unable to locate storage device.
So... now what? Other than the user error, things are going great!
Assuming the backup of your stock rom is still intact and now on your computer I would try flashing a new recovery like clockwork mod, clockwork mod touch are just re flash your team win recovery and and try to backup your current google rom again through your recovery "nandroid" hope it works for ya.

May also be a sd card issue? Try removing in re installing your sd card. I am pretty sure the default save location for backups are in the internal. Memory but it might help...

Success! It turns out I didn't try replacing the entire TWRP folder with the one I had copied to my computer. That's a relief.
Cool!
I'm having this problem too, now. It looks like if I delete any backup by hand (not with the TWRP interface), TWRP will no longer backup or restore? Crazy! Is my recent backup garbage, just because TWRP refuses to install it?
I had this issue too. here's my current back up path /storage/extSdCard/TWRP/BACKUPS/94937798/"name of your backup". I deleted the numbered part just to have shorter file path but it didn't work. So then i Deleted everything but the main TWRP folder and my Backup of course. then used TWRP to make a nandroid backup and doing that restored the correct full file path. Maybe try it and then place your old nandroid backup in the folder.
Twrp/backup/######/your nandroid backup.
Also your old backup does it display the file path it used to belong to? If so remake that path of folders in the TWRP folder
---------- Post added at 05:25 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:18 PM ----------
I just read your post again.
Try moving your backup on external SD. Not in a folder then try to restore using Twrp you have find your backup location and select it and try checking the skip md5 verification. Make a nandroid backup 1st just to be safe

I just got the same error today. I tried to make a backup with TWRP 2.6.0.0 on my Nexus 4 and it couldn't locate the storage device, even though I had other backups already that I could see! So I flashed TWRP to 2.5.0.0 and could back things up again!
Is this a bug with TWRP 2.6.0.0 ?

I just had the same problems after upgrading from 2.5 to 2.6. Can't make a backup "E: Unable to locate storage device.". Can't see backups (list is just empty, but "E: Storage partition "//TWRP/BACKUPS/HT25ZW308588' not found" is in the console). I downgraded to 2.5 and everything started working again.

TWRP 2.6 is a bit buggy - there is some evidence that installing HyperDrive Rom with 2.6 will bootloop the device, whereas 2.5.0.2 will not. I'd steer clear of 2.6.

Does anyone know what the /sdcard/TWRP/.twrps file is for? Is it general settings that I can safely delete? (without affecting my ability to restore ?)
I had this problem too, I deleted entire folder /sdcard/TWRP/ and then it works again. I think you just need to delete the .twrps file, this is the config file of twrp.
Why aren't we using CWM? ^_^
Thanks

Recovering data and Bootloop

Hello guys, long time lurker, first time poster.
After my phone (gt i9100) drained out its battery, it got stuck in a bootloop.
Normally I think I would have to factory reset or flash the same rom again (SlimBean 4.3) and that would take care of the issue.
This time around, however I need to restore some information from the machine before tampering with flashing in any way.
I have not attempted flashing anything in the last couple of months, which is why the bootloop is kinda weird.
Would any of you guys be able to suggest anything?
EDIT 1: I've managed to extract the recovery image made by CWM, from the internal storage. Need to research whether I'd be able to restore information from it using Titanium Backup or a similar app.
The device boots into recovery / download mode no problem.
I have made 2 backups from CWM, though they're both on the internal storage, as the device has a problem mounting/ writing the backup onto the external SD card.
1. Can I export the backup in some way, to be able to flash a new rom and then restore the data?
2. Would flashing a different kernel help? If so, I'm not sure which kernel would be prefered for the SlimBean 4.3 rom.
3. Would flashing the rom once again get rid of my data (I suspect it would, though I don't have much experience with this)
I will be very grateful for you guys' feedback.
Thank you very much for any help.
@Sahagin
Two things you could do.
1. In recovery, go to mounts and storage and mount usb storage. From here you can connect to your pc and copy whatever files you need over to the pc.
2. Try flashing just the rom .zip and rebooting. This will not touch your data partition, where all your app data, pictures, saved files are.
To add to the above, Titanium Backup can extract some of the data from nandroid backups......it just depends what you want to recover.....

I am mainly interested in restoring text messages and some unsynchronized google keep data.
I have purchased and installed the Pro version of Titanium Backup which has this functionality. Tested in an emulator, seems to work for google keep, however not so much for the text messages themselves.
Gonna fiddle around with it for a couple more hours, if it doesn't work I guess it's my fault for not keeping a backup. Had to learn that the hard way.
@Sahagin This *might* help.......

[Discussion] What are you doing now that you can root?

Personally I've deleted a couple unnecesary apps that were wasting space, and intend to make Chrome an option for Dual Window again as soon as I figure out how (it was removed, I believe in 11b, and the flex multi window mod is unable to enable it).
As more things occur to me, I'll do more things. What do you all plan to do?
So far, I've only installed greenify and titanium backup.. I'm honestly trying to figure out what else I want to do (been out of the root scene for about a year and a half between this and my old turbo, which didn't receive root until the time I got my v10)

It's either the LG Backup folder in your SDCard or the TitaniumBackup folder. Otherwise I would scan your SDCard.

Tried editing to enable dual window with buildprop editor, rebooted into a bootloop. Recovery has the option to enable USB debugging. Using this, is it possible to undo the change in (for example) terminal emulator, rewriting the original line? That way I wouldn't have to factory reset. I already tried wiping the cache (wasn't expecting it to work, but it seemed harmless).
