So I have this GT n7000 with android 4.0.4 ICS, rooted. I want to swap my 32 gb external sd card with my internal one. I googled it, found a method that included replacing a vold.fstab file in system/etc but that was only for jellybean. I need a method for ICS. I would really appreciate a step by step method, and preferably a reversible one. Also I can't understand what usb storage means. Is it different form internal sd card?? Thanks........
Take a look at "Root External 2 Internal SD" - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.codlab.int2ext

that's why you must have a Nandroid backup before you do anything, so that you can "RESTORE" easily, if you made a mistake or the MOD did not work for you.

Why make a video? Or, go through the process and make one yourself, what do you need?
SDDL+
A rom to flash
(optionally a webcam or video camera of some sort to record the procedure!)
Put SDDL+ in base "\" folder of your micro sd card, and put *.tsw rom file in a folder called "PRG" These folders do not actually have " in there name.
Run SDDL+ and choose yes, making sure you have 100% battery charge, and your phone should be flashed to the rom you chose. After its done, soft reset using the master clear option and your done.
In all honesty, no need for a video, just copy and paste instructions into google translate if you cannot read english, all information you need is in STICKY posts in the TG01 Rom Development thread. A video would be quite annoying actually as you would have about 20 minutes of looking at a warning screen saying don't remove sd card or battery!!!!!

Ok, I have a thunderbolt so I decided to post this question here:
I really want to understand what language you guys are talking about when it comes to; kernel, adb, radios, etc.....
I do get confused on those and want to learn the vocab for the android. Point me to the right direction. thanks.
I'm doing these from what I've read. I really only understand half the stuff that is discussed here, but this is my best understanding.
Kernel: Not really sure how to explain it, but gives the operating system a base to work from as i understand it.
Radio: Is what interfaces the operating system with the network.
adb: adobe debugging bridge. There are several posts describing that in great depth.
johnny, wikipedia is a man's best friend
i can't post the link, but if you search for "kernel (computing), you'll find the article and the first paragraph explains it all....there's a nice diagram too lol
good luck!
Wait, you mean you can use the interwebs to look up information on things we want to know more about!?

I think you mean android debugging bridge. It's basically a framework you can install on your computer that can use to issue commands to your phone. you can use it to sideload apps, where you download the apps install file (apk) to your computer and then use adb commands to install it on your phone, thereby getting around any blocks verizon has put on the android market.

Hi everyone,
I bought a samsung galaxy gt n7005 and the software was full of bugs with android 4.0.4.
Then I made a big mistake because I rooted with android 4.1.2 but for ata. Everything was working except the phone functionality
Since then the bed luck followed me and I try to install the 4.0.4 again and didn't work.
I tried to read in different forums and everything sounds confuse to me.
Could you please tell me what I should download with link included and what I should do in order to install a stable version of android.
I would like to install jelly bean, I don't mind custom rom. If is not possible to install jelly bean it's fine even with android 4.0.4
Thanks

Depends on how the ROM is packed, IF its in .tar format, than you need to use Odin3, if in .zip format, you have to use CWM recovery , so download the correct ROM first and see how it is packed . this (your model) is closer to this model but not the same, so look at how it is flashed, modded etc t get a better picture

I've rooted my droid phones for years. This is the first one that ran good enough that I never ended up doing root. Now that it's been out a long time, what is the most simple and safe root method so I can use titanium backup? I'm not interested in custom ROMs, kernels, and the other stuff now a days. Too addictive [emoji13]

I know that towelroot is a one click rite from your device so no need for a pc. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2790108 Give this a once over and see if it sounds like something you might wanna try. If not you can always go with chainfire and odin http://www.xda-developers.com/tag/chainfire/

I appreciate the link and see you wrote it. However that is way over 90% of the users head I would think. I found it was super easy by following the 8 steps here:
Download CF-Auto-Root package and extract the zip: CF-Auto-Root-hltespr-hltespr-smn900p.zip
Enable USB Debugging again.
Boot the phone into Download Mode.
Launch Odin.
Connect phone to computer.
Click AP and select CF-Auto-Root-hltespr-hltespr-smn900p.tar.md5.
Hit the Start button.
You’ll get PASS! message on Odin and your phone will reboot automatically.
