Good Morning,
i want to install the Custom Rom Andread 3.2 on my Alcatel OT918d.
I have 2 questions:
How can i install the firmwarepackage? With CWM? When yes, is CWM preinstalled on the device? I read the whole thread, but i don't find extended installation information.
1) microsd must be partition before installation (first partition primary FAT32, second partition primary EXT2)

Place the downloaded zip file in sd and goto cwm thete is an option to flash zip file check that and select the downloaded file
And about the partition it is for using the int2ext script for increasing your internel memory so you can select any size preferable is 1gb as you are not going to install as much apps
Do you??

First of all you need a rooted phone. That's the absolute pre-requisite: If you don't know how to just google "how to root [phone name]". There are loads of tools that make this quite easy.
When you have root access you can simply download and install Clockwork Recovery (which is NOT pre-installed) and [optional] Rom Manager.
When you have CWM installed, just boot into recovery mode and choose "install zip from SD card" after wiping cache/dalvik cache and a factory reset.
Don't forget to backup you data!

I am trying to flash zip files from my SD card in cmw.. I go to choose zip from sd then after choose external_sd/ when i choose it, it does absolutely nothing( I hit the home button and it says no file exists but i know the files are there). I also manually mounted the SD... I was originally trying to do the fix speaker sound.. But due to the fact i could not get the sd to read, i did it from the internal memory. Now i cannot use my phone app at all it just crashes. I now want to flash a new rom on to fix the issue, but as i said i can't flash the zip from the SD. If anyone can give me some assistance it would be greatly appreciated.
For flashing Roms you ALWAYS put them on your sdcard WHICH IS THE INTERNAL UNREMOVEABLE SDCARD. Your external sdcard on Samsung roms is called external_SD and in cm7 it is called emmc. On stock based roms (Samsung roms) you will always have to put the files on the sdcard NOT the external removeable sdcard.

Sounds like you already have a rom installed. Which one? Or are you still on stock? If stock, you can't flash from stock 3e recovery.
Assuming you have CWM Recovery, put the flashable zip on the root of the internal sdcard *not* the external sdcard, and not in any directory. If your directory structure on the sdcard is fairly long, the files may be hidden at the bottom, and you will have to scroll down to see them. Use the vol+ button to scroll in the up direction is easiest. Then you should be able to install the rom by selecting "install zip from sdcard" and then "choose zip from sdcard". Do not use "choose zip from internal sdcard".
I am running a stock rom rooted.. I was falling a sleep while typing it.. I ment I was trying to choose the rom in CWM.. I saved the ROM on my external SD so i can try to pull the file and flash my phone to it.. What i am saying is when i go to pick the ZIP under in CWM i can't access it. As i wrote in my original post
If you have stock rom plus root by Entropy512, then the kernel is straight stock with 3e recovery, and you can not flash a rom from 3e recovery. You will need to install a kernel which contains ClockworkMod Recovery first. See the guide linked in my signature for detailed instructions on how to do that.
And go back and read both RockRatt's post and my previous post, to learn that you can not install a rom from the external sd card. And you should spend some time reading in general, so you have a basic understanding of what you are doing. And then do some more reading.

Why is it so difficult to put the zipfile on internal sdcard for flashing purposes,
then after flashing using a file manager simply move the zipfile to external sdcard?
Of course if you were using CWM Manager you would not have the
problem in the first place, CWM Manager (apk) can be downloaded
here: http://megaupload.com/?d=TGXMLL1G it is fully compatible with
CWM recovery but you do not need to go into recovery mode.
With this app you will have access to external sdcard with no problem.
It has most of the same options and features as you would see in Rom
Manager but it's fully compatible with our phones and flashable zipfile
roms, kernels, modems and mods. (it even installs apps )apk).
This is a perfect solution to backup and restore roms too.
(fully CWM compatible Nandroid with option to name the backup)
Check it out!

Please anyone show me how to make the internal storage mount when plug into the PC ?
I'v read a lot from many threads but mostly for developer so no images at all. I can't follow them step by step and don't know which step i needed to enable mount for the internal storage.
Sorry if this annoy & make people think that i'm lazy
Hello your link gives 404 error , modify it please.
About internal storage what version of CM7 are you running? the beta version fixed this issue so if you have the alpha final version i suggest you to update. But if you indeed have the latest beta build then try making all wipes (factory reset, cache and dalvik cache) then reflash the ROM.

Hello, is your device the 8gb or 16gb model? also your problems started when you installed TWRP recovery or when you had CWM recovery?
~ V
my nook is a 16gb model. The problem started when i was in CWM recovery, i can't flash the cm9.zip so i tried out sth and end up like this
Now my nook tablet has no OS . Can just boot into TWRP
Go to my recovery thread in development section and follow the instructions to flash the internal recovery 0.05.1 (CM9 specific) from a CWM recovery sdcard also from there flash CM9 ROM if you have it in internal sdcard. Otherwise you'll have to to boot into internal cwm recovery and flash the ROM from another sdcard or the same sdcard you used after format it first with SD formatter software for windows (recommended)

No no you have to flash internal recovery FROM a cwm recovery sdcard. Read again my post carefully and follow all the tutorial I have posted in my recovery thread. Use the CM9 internal recovery as I suggested.
You can't flash a recovery.zip from internal recovery on the nook tablet, at list not yet.

Hey guys,
I flashed NeatROM recently for the 4.3 update.
Followed these steps before flashing:
-Install CWM Recovery with Odin
-Download, and save zip to internal sdcard
-Go to recovery, Select Wipe data, Wipe cache
-Go to Advance and Select Wipe dalvik cache
-Go to Mounts and storage, select Format system
-Select Install Rom from SD card
Click to collapse
Everything went well and the rom works fine.
I went in to flash a custom kernel earlier and when I selected install from zip I noticed that all my data/folders from the previous rom were still present. The new data is now in a ' 0\ ' folder.
I was running a 4.1.2 rom with Siyah kernel before I flashed 4.3. I also had a build of carbon flashed as a second rom for a short time. I'm guessing this has something to do with the data left behind.
I just want to start with a clean slate and wipe the internal SD completely; will megawipe (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1832326&page=38) do what I need it or do I need to format the SD from within CWM?
Thanks in advance.
p.s. after such a wipe is it better to flash a new rom via ODIN or would it be okay just use a zip from an external SD.

You need to format /data partition. Megawipe will work. But, IHMO, no need for that. Just do it yourself from CWM.
Also, theres a big difference between odin "roms" and flashable zip roms.
If you flash something via Odin, it means that's probably (or surely) an official Samsung firmware without modifications. A flashable zip one is a custom rom.
Depends what you need/want. Most of us here use custom roms that we flash via cwm.
Thanks for the quick reply, bornlivedie.

I'll do it via the CWM /data format over the weekend. Cheers.

My mistake for not being clearer in my original post; I have flashed a few custom roms before so I did know that Odin's generally reserved for flashing official sammy roms and customs go through custom recoveries.
Thanks for the heads up and the concern though. Much appreciated.
Going to 4.3 I'd recommend formatting the internal sd in CWM, also system, data and preload. If you read neat rom thread you see similar advice, the 5.4 aroma installer comes with Philz 5.15 recovery which is the best CWM to use.
This is the rom i want:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2258723
I never flashed a rom before but I saw how to do this.
I wiped my caches and wiped deta factory, then I went to select zip files from sd card and there was nothing.
I tried after the wiping to add the ROM file to my sd card again but still i cant choose anything, i dont even see the zip file.
im rooted i have galaxy s3 4.2.2.
Please i really want this rom, and help me step by step because im new to this.
And i would like to know if there is an easy way to do this.
You must put the zip on the internal sd of the phone. CWM not see the externel sd.

Is that next to the sim card?
And if i dont have it i cant flash a rom?
You can flash a rom. Try to put the zip in the clockworkmod folder. Don't do a full wipe until flash. Wipe cash partition and in advance menu from CWM wipe dalvik cash. After flash do a full wipe.

So if you can tell me the stuff that required for flashing a rom would be great.
Like what is CWM, do i need to install it?, where do i install it?
You have to read a lot. In the s3 general section is a thread specially created for noobs like you. Start from there. Any admin to close this thread...

Flash kernel which has the ability to mount sd card in recovery. For example, TWRP recovery in AOSX has that ability. From there on you will be able to flash any rom zip.

I have some confusion regarding ROM installation. The usual step to install rom, for eg is
How to Install:
1. Download the ROM
2. Extract boot.img and flash it
3. Copy the ROM to your SD Card
4. Boot into recovery
5. Wipe data, cache, dalvik cache, and system
6. Install the ROM
7. Reboot

because it doesn't get deleted that way, it won't wipe internal memory (or in other words, our virtual SD card), you will ipe data, cache, dalvik cache, and system
