Wierdest thing has happened to me in the past 10 or so hours. Ok, so I went to bed, turned my Desire X off, and left it charging. But when I woke up, the orange LED was still on... I was confused. I tried to turn it on... Absolutley no response. Tried to charge it at another socket... Nothing different.
10 hours ago, it was working fine.
Please, Please Help Me! I have contacted HTC Support. Thanks!

Unfortunately, that did not work. Contacted HTC Support Chat, they ran me through steps that were pointless and did nothing. So I have to send it off to an authorized HTC repair centre. Any ideas whether having the Desire X rooted means that the warranty is voided? Thanks!

Maybe. Depends on the service center.

Yes The warranty is void beacuse you have an unlocked bootloader.
I doubt they will notice though.
Have you left it on charge for a whole day and problems still happen. Also can you not get into recovery or enter boatloader

Yes, have previously left it on to charge for a day, but no change. I have tried various other suggestions on other posts, but to no success. And no, I cannot get in to the bootloader or recovery. Must probably a hardware issue, has been working fine for months, and have not flashed anything for months aswell.
Thanks for your kind suggestions,
Joe

Maybe a Hard Brick ? I'm not sure.
Do you have access to another HTC battery ?
What were you doing before... Flash any mods or anything ?
I think your best bet might be to just send it to a repair centre.

Same happens with ny desire x
I sent it to HTC center they said the motherboard is damaged and it costs aground 1/3 rd of the total cost of the device itself
Is it opening into bootloader menu?

This time I have really f***ed up guys. I really think this time I have actually bricked my Thunderbolt. I was on Bamf Remix 1.63 I believe and everything was running great. I was obviously rooted also. I was bored and decided to flash Protekks Battery Sipper Kernel. Right after I flashed it, the phone would not boot. I pulled the battery and booted up again and it got stuck in a boot loop. So after a few tries I finally got it to boot into the bootloader. I got into recovery and tried to flash a backup and it rebooted in the middle of restoring it. I tried that a few more times. I then let the battery die. Then I charged it up a lot and tried to power it on and got nothing. The screen will not even turn on. When plugged into my computer it sometimes vibrates and my computer detects it and then my computer makes the sound like it was disconnected. I think it is still stuck in the boot loop with the screen off though. BTW the charging light does light up when plugged in. I tried the stock and extended battery to make sure it was not a battery problem. I finally called up Verizon and after I told them it would not turn on he said he is shipping me a free replacement. I told them that after a OTA update the phone would not boot. He warned me that if there is any evidence that the phone was rooted or hacked, I would be charged the retail price for the phone. That is really the only thing I am scared of. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Sorry for the long post, I wanted to get in all the details that I could.
Thanks
Adam

Wtf? This isn't Samsung. OP do you bootloop in bootloader? I recommend you go to the irc and give them any info you can.. you will probably end up flashing a stock ruu through the bootloader but first go to irc.

OK thanks for the replies. Do you think the Verizon warranty center people will actually go to the trouble of getting it to work and then charge me full retail for a new one if they see it is rooted. I already have the stock zip on the SD card so when it does boot up, it will return everything to stock. I have read online that some people have been charged retail because there phones have been rooted but most of them have gotten away with with it..

thanks for the response man. etf= early termination fee? I might not have said in my original post but they are sending me a free replacement device. The rep on the phone specifically said that if they find my phone to be rooted or hacked, that I will be charged around 629$ for the refurb replacement. I really cannot afford that (

I got out of a bootloop on my friend's Insipre 4G (which is very similar to the TB) by mounting the microSD on my computer, and then putting a stock ROM on it. I had to rename the stock ROM PG98IMG (PG05IMG on Thunderbolt), and flash it through the bootloader, but it did work.
Thanks for the post man but the Thunderbolt does not show any signs of life at all besides the flashing orange LED at the top blinking and the computer detecting it on and off every 5 minutes. The stock zip is already on the SD card so when it finally boots up it will flash and hopefully Verizon won't charge me out the @ss for a replacement.

how long have you had your phone and what hardware revision was it? did you try to run the RUU yet?
i think some people just got a batch of faulty phones because this doesn't seem to affect many.
I highly doubt verizon is going to receive your broken phone and boot it up and it will magically work. The only way it will auto-update is if they boot it into HBOOT. If they somehow just power it on it won't automatically apply anything. Keep that in mind. But I really wouldn't worry too much about it. If they charge you call them and tell them wtf I wasn't rooted. I don't even know what that means lol.
I have had the phone since the very first days it was released. not sure.. actually my many friends about 8-9 friends have Mozart and all got updated successfully and working fine. Mine got corrupt I belive is due to any one of the reason.
1 - battery was not fully charged so it drained during update process and corrupted files on ROM.
2 - my USB cable is little damanged.. so if I move my cell it drops connection.. and I was on couch so I suspect this maybe main reason behind files getting corrupt.
Hahaha, sounds exactly like me xD
Except I was in bed and not on couch^^

hmm, so I got a response from HTC.. they say motherboard is dead.. now I highly doubt that, because it happened during update process and specifically after HTC Cleanup update, after it restarted phone it did not come up.. so I am going to open it and test it myself.. and if still I dont find out.. I am going to give it to local mobile repairer and see.. else buy new Windows Phone.
whats up with ur device?
HTC is hopeless.. they have only one answer Motherboard.. and am 100% sure it is not motherboard issue. So tomorrow I am going to some local mobile repair shop which will repair it using JTAG method. Basically it can bring hard brick devices into life again.
will keep you all posted.

Hi I have the same problem here except that the cable is fine and I was doing the update on a desk.
What ended up being the problem with yours... HTC want me to believe its the battery but I know that that diagnosis is ****.
---See Update below at end of this post---
The phone was running fine till yesterday however it got discharged. Upon reaching home, I put the phone on charge forgot to turn it on. I remember the orange light on phone was on. About 2 hours later, I noticed that there was no notification light. I tried to turn on the phone but it didn't turn on
I removed the battery and tried again, the same thing. I put the charger cable back in, the orange light blinked a couple of time and it became steady orange. Tried to turn the phone on again and the light again went off. I tried the same thing over and over its the same result. I connected the phone to windows, its detected as qhsusb_dload and need drivers for it. I've searched around xda for it, I've found it means the phone is bricked for phones having qualcomm chipset, but the strange thing is it usually happens because of bad flash. My phone was running fine without any problems for past couple of weeks and I hadn't had flashed anything for last 2-3 days, I don't know what went wrong
Any idea how should I proceed ?
I bought my phone from eBay about 3 weeks back. I'm thinking of contacting the eBay seller and ask if they have tmobile warranty for it?
The other thing I could do is purchase squaretrade warranty and ask them for a repair 45 days later.
But I don't know, I had unlocked the bootloader and installed a custom ROM on it (although I was on stock kernel). Do you guys think, HTC or squaretrade will honor the warranty on it ? I know the second option is kind of immoral, but i dont want to lose $400 I just spent
--- UPDATE 03/31 ---
I got the replacement battery from HTC, using it my phone started. Later on, I changed to X's touch recovery and kernel to Faux 009 and guess what I was able to revive my dead battery also by charging via phone itself... I dont know where the bug lied exactly as somebody mentioned at other place the stock kernel in NRGZ thread is different from tmo stock and causing problems. My guess is bad recovery though as the CWM 5.0.2.6 for Amaze here doesn't support off charging...
--- UPDATE 04/05 ---
Member andy55 confirmed this bug is due to bad recovery and the stock kernel itself is fine.
I would suggest everyone to not use official CWM 5.0.2.6 recovery. Rather switch to Xboarder56's version of ClockworkMOD 5.5.0.4 or Touch 5.8.0.9 RC2
If a mod can put this above information in the reference thread for Amaze..It would save a lot of potential probs in Amaze's in here

Yes, I know its the most strange thing ever happened.
Do you or anybody know if sensation battery works on it. My room mate has a sensation I can ask him for his battery and try it out
sounds like the same thing that happened to my backup amaze. I swapped batteries and the same issue was affecting the other one, so its the battery. One of my amaze's is rooted rom'd etc and the other is stock, and the same issue affected the stock one, so its not a brick.

HTC also replaces any accessory once, you could call and they'd probably send you a free battery.
I just got another back cover from them, since my old one was creaking.
To Discharge the battery, you could get a couple led lights and tape them to the + and - terminals of the battery and just let it die.
Radioshack has leds.
Probably not the easiest way... But it would work.

If you have a qsb_load brick caused in any way, plz try to identify your phones emmc like they did here in the link for the sensation in a Linux environment. You can only access this mode on a bricked phone.
I think we may be able to s-off using a version of this method. Ultimately intentionally bricking a phone and achieve installing a cracked boot loader and s-off.

Ok, I went through the thread to make out, what they are trying to do, however, without much success...
I couldn't find the pin they use on sensation to ground it to SD card frame, to put it in download mode. See the image attached, its kind of different from sensation. Also I can't find it any instructions for Linux environment, its mostly windows based (drivers and software). Can you point out the post or do a write up ? I have a mac with me, I'm guessing it would be same for os X also..
Anyway I don't know, if I should be doing all this...since I plan to RMA the phone to HTC incase it doesn't work with new battery.
However, if its indeed battery related and it does work with new battery, what I can do is ship you the battery which causes the brick. You can try the things on your Amaze, if you want to...since you seem better technically sound than me

Hi,
Does anyone have any idea why this happened? picture here: http://imgur.com/UHEKm
I was just playing a game on my e3d, and all of a sudden, video froze, music was still on, touch screen was still working, but the screen got all "noisy" - like in the pic.
I pulled the battery, and it was the same.
I reverted to factory defaults, no change...
I can't access recovery to try and flash a backup or a stock rom because the screen doesn't come on until the phone boots.
Can anyone help? I'd like to at least revert to a stock rom before taking the phone back to the store.
Thanks in advance.
Is there any way to output recovery screen via HDMI?
yea
you could in, using a micro usb to hdmi adapter, which will set you back about 10 bucks
yup, i knew that, and i already have the adapter. My question was if it was possible to see the custom recovery screen via hdmi.
As far as i figured out, it's not possible to do that.

If the screen's failing, you could flash a ROM using ADB, then wipe the recovery..
However, I see no point in it. If the screen fails, it's not a ROM issue, it's more of a tampering with internals sort of thing. So unless they can prove that Rooting your phone cause the screen to fail, they have no right to deny the repair.
I finally got my phone back today, after 7 weeks in service...
What i ended up doing was, just as DjDom said, to flash a rom using adb, and then wipe recovery.
Anyway, i think it wouldn't have mattered. The repair forms said that the device couldn't be repaired, and that they changed the mainboard. So now i have a new, unrooted evo3d. After a 7 week wait, thanks to Rogers approved service shops...
Thanks to everyone who replied.

You can fix it with jtag but i don't think you have one because then you wouldn't ask this question.
Samsung service can repair it but maybe they charge repair (but i think they won't if it's still in waranty).
It's not important is cwm you flashed samsung or not because flashing any cwm that is not made for your phone will cause brick.

Yeah, I've been doing alot of reading today about this.
Looked into a "jig" but it's not even getting to the boot screen so I'm lead to believe this won't work.
Tried loading up through odin again but the program doesn't detect the phones even connected.
When the chargers plugged in, it doesn't even light up.
Reckon i'll give Samsung a go... what's the worst that could happen?
The exact same thing happened to me about 6 months ago, but I was just recently trying to fix it. The worst part is that you can't even access it from your computer and therefore you can't do anything. Let me know if you get it repaired, and how much it cost.

Ok, I just tried a usb jig and it didn't work. Any luck getting your one repaired?

Morning Sean,
If I'm being honest, I never sent it. My friend dropped his i5500 and shattered the lcd so he bought mine for £20 ($35). Thats only $15 less than i paid for it, so i took the hit.
Reading the samsung repair document though they do say that if you can produce a valid proof of purchase and they cant detect any liquid or physical damage they will fix any mobile upto 24mths after purchase.
If you still have the receipt, it may be worth it.
Hope you get it fixed.
