[Q] Activate S-offed unlocked phone? - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

Hello xda community!
So I am trying to sell my evo lte, but I was wondering if you can still activate the phone if it's s-offed, unlocked and running on stock based rom? Thanks for the help!

Yes.

Thanks! So I take it if I am running a stock rom, but it's s-offed and unlocked, it shouldn't affect the how sprint's network communicates with the phone via activation? Sorry if I sound like I'm repeating my self, I just want to make sure that this can work. Thanks again!

[Question] Rooting

Just wondering if the Thunderbolt had to be activated before rooting or not.
Anyone know?
I plan on rooting one for my mother in law but she hasn't activated it yet for service.

Mine was rooted when I activated it. I ended up unrooting because there were problems with my activation unrelated to being rooted. Just makes sure you're on the latest firmware first.

Thanks man.

No problem. The reason you should stick with the stock ruu is because if they need software info it will match. I doubt they will hut you never know.

I probably will just root it anyways. If something weird happens, I'll just unroot it and start over.

So it IS safe to root before activating?
Just double checking.

Yeah, just until it gets activated, then I can change over to a different ROM.
Thanks again man.

Yea. I remember on the Eris it wasn't possible to activate on anything but a stock rom. On this I'm not to sure so I would go with a sense 2.1 for sure.

I can say if you have verizon you might wanna wait on rooting even if you root but have a stock rom because i sat in their store over an hour and a half one day setting up a new sim card with a samsung stratosphere i rooted and it had the tweaked rom and stock rom and had to unroot cuz their computer couldnt connect to device right and finally after 8 new simcards i just unrooted used my backup of original factory firmware i took before flashing customized stock rom.... I know im a lil late on this but my advice is root it after its been activated...save yourself hassle and embarrassment knowing they are not supposed to help you when your device is rooted...

This is the reason I never go in the store. I've never had a problem activating a rooted phone. That is why I always suggest going back to a stock firmware though because cm roms and other aosp roms have trouble activating most of the time.

[Q] Downgrade for bootloader unlock?

Hey all,
So I wanted to load up a custom ROM on my DNA eventually, unfortunately I didn't read that accepting the latest Verizon OTA would not allow me to do that, and therefore I took the OTA.
I was wondering, is it possible to downgrade to the original build (1.15 i think) that shipped with the phone via an RUU? Because then I would be able to use the current unlock method, correct?
Thanks!
p.s I read around, and I didn't see anything about this, but I apologize if I missed it.
No, it is currently impossible to unlock your phone.

Thanks for a speedy reply! I had a hunch that would be so, oh well, I can live with it stock. It's really good as is!
You can pay for a jtag service.

I was about to suggest that too. Its only $45 I think for the guy in Dallas and well worth it. I've been in communication with them and they have been GREAT to work with on several issues, I'd send my phone to them in a heartbeat.
To find the thread Google "XDA DNA s off for the impatient."

Disabling MMS screenshot compression?

As the title says, I'm running the stock rooted rom, s-off and all, just want to know how to stop compression of screenshots over mms because it is distorting it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I have had too many issues running these custom jb roms that I'm over it, there's always something not working or force closing and I'm sure there is a mod out there to stop from compressing because that's the issue.

Also if you don't have something knowledgable or actually WORTH reading, don't comment on here. This is a question and answer, not a question and sarcastic bull**** remark forum
