Too Root or not to Root? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 3

I am debating whether to root my Note3 or not. Why should I? I am not very experienced in the technical part of phones but I want to be.

I usually give direct info, but as this is such a common question... Here are some threads for you to read!
Census
So who is rooting & flashing roms regardless of Knox?
Root de la Vega [KNOX 0x0 Root - Lots of Versions - No Exynos]
[SM-N900P] CF-Auto-Root
If rooting isn't urgent for you, wait! You'll most likely be happier and less stressed not being a guinea pig for experimental development (Where we are right now with the SM-N900P)...
If you still have questions, feel free to post in the Q&A for us to help you more quickly and keep things organized.

Good luck getting a response with anymore detail than mine. I would go ahead and delete this because this is likely the kindest response you will see.

I could certainty appreciate your standpoint if say, I bricked my device trying to root it.
Considering the power button broke (and my phone has NEVER been dropped) I dont think it's fair that they refuse to fix a hardware problem because I used my device as it was built to be used.

ME7(ota) + ROOT = what now?

So, like many of you I have the me 7 out update and have performed the SD card root method. Now what? I want to use Titanium Backup to start uninstalling the bloatware but I'm not sure which apps I can safely remove without causing issues.
Beyond this, what else can I do with my rooted/ME7 SGS4? What are the best apps for root only?

Personally, I would just freeze. It looks like we're in the long haul for recovery/bootloader. There's a chance that the next hack might not be available until the next update.
Honestly there probably will not be any bootloader unlock for the Verizon S4. Its just been blocked down so tight that its very highly unlikely you're going to get more than root. Maybe recovery but that is a long shot.
And its not about the time involved to find a line of code or some loophole. Its how they have learned from the past. The last few phones only got unlocked because of leaks. Without the leaks they would still be locked to this day. That alone says a lot.

Do a search. It has its own thread all about it. Its in the Dev section.
Since your new I'll link it. But please just do a quick look around first. You'll learn more that way.

The "best" one will be the one that's got all the features you're looking for!
These threads get shut down quick, because there's no such thing. And we (collectively, as note3 owners) can't be assed to answer a new thread about this every other day.
They're all pretty solid. You know what to do. (back it up, flash a few!)
Ok I get you. Just trying to get a feel of what people here like. It's like moving to a new state and trying to figure out the best places to eat. Thanks again

general idea: the threads with the most activity tend to get the most fan, and usually means they're the ones that get the most dev attention.
anything by mjcollum is always good, for a start.
Best is in the eye of the beholder, as XDA is not a support site, members are expected to make this determination on their own based on reading and studying of products offered in the development threads.

Quick question but please help

Hello,
Can I flash verzion g3 roms on my sprint g3? And if so are there any thing that doesn't work?
No

Wrong thread, and no.
Where are the mods? There's a few threads here that shouldn't be.
Maybe they are just to busy with the 8000 roms popping up for the other carriers that I've hated for awhile now & even more so now.

Wrong thread. Yes. However. Yes you can. I've personally flashed several carrier ROMs using sprint kernel afterwords. Verizon however I get borked data. Fc settings. Tmo usually I can get OK but I do not suggest this to anyone that doesn't prepare for issues. Knowing a bit from owning g2 will help. It is same principle ...just I had too much fun one day. Wound up flashtool but I enjoy flash tool etc. I do not condone. Its your phone. Be safe. Make backup. I did not give thumbs up. Just answering you best I can in truth. You'll play a while trying to get CDMA too often.

Ok

Verizon S6 now has root.

I see on the xda Verizon S6 forum that they found a way to root Lollipop. So maybe there is hope for those who took the OTA Lollipop on their S4.
At the end of the day, for all of you who wish you still had root, taking the update was a rookie mistake

Understatement of the year
happens every time there is a OTA the noobs jump the gun and end up getting locked out
Or they screw up, brick, and we have to listen to their whines about how it isn't working and they didn't bother to read and figure it out because the threads are too long, or they just don't bother. I'm no expert, but SO sick of reading those posts.

no we are not all here to "learn" that is NOT what XDA is for
There is a difference between asking noob questions and sheer refusal to even try to learn or do research.

HELP I bork my phone ..
where is dl how install ?
I'm not in a position to make a call on whether or not they tried hard enough to not ask. We weren't all born with the same deck. The Tab S forums are much less forgiving of the noobertons, probably because the user base is different than that of 2 year old phone that is marketed to women.
The thing that bugs me is all the complaining from the people who got impulsive went back to stock in order to take the ota. They just couldn't be patient and wait for the devs to figure it out. It's disrespectful of the devs' achievements and diverts their time away from more important projects like unlocking the bl and getting xposed working again
Sent from my SM-T800 using XDA Free mobile app
Totally agree. I usually wait on OTA's to make sure it won't jack up the phone. Since I've been rooting, it's for what you said, waiting for the developers to work their magic. I'd much rather have them work on "enhancements" and advancements instead of fixes for the impatient people.
Sent from my SCH-I545 using XDA Free mobile app
I'm the OP. I do have Lollipop rooted using Muniz_ri method. I just posted this to inform those who took the OTA that there may be hope.
Why do you have spit on the people who made a mistake. Lol. It's not bad enough they are stuck without root but you have kick them while there down as well. I know people tell you not to do that all the time but you don't need to sh*t on them.
Everyone in here please play nicely in the sandbox.....
"Better to be silent, than to argue with the ignorant."
I don't have to worry since I generally have a ROM 99% of the time unless I brick my phone or I have to restore from a corrupt install.. I saw a few friends take the update, but they don't care too much about rooting and whatnot.
Can someone tell me why none of these comments has anything to do with the thread???!!!! I do not believe is says BASH THE NOOBIES!!! Come on people don't take XDA where it doesn't deserve to be! Thank you and have a beautiful day everyone
