My 4.0 WONT MOUNT /sdcard.....WILL NOT BOOT! - Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0, 5.0

I really need help my galaxy player 4.0 wont boot i was running cyanogenmod 10.1 no problem and one day it wouldn't turn on.
I have tried stock rom but it will only boot if I have a micro sd card inserted and it still says no sd card. cwm will read an external sd but not the internal. help!

Your issue make me remember an old bug in Cyanogenmod where the internal and external sdcards would be swapped.
Did you make a backup of /efs and your original stock ROM/Kernel/Recovery before upgrading to cm 10.1?
Upgrading to CM 10.1 converted your partitions to another format so you won't be able to go back to stock without flashing the original partitions using Odin or Heimdall.

It also deleted everything on my sd cards, so I dont have backups but I do have my EFS backup. I already did a full restore using odin and I made sure to check "re partition" I can get it to boot into recovery should I try to flash cyanogenmod again?

No I don't get any errors when I boot into recovery but my SD cards are switched.
It says it can't mount my external SD card (which is actually my internal) and when I boot into the OS it says I have no sd cards.

Looks good for me so far but I don't understand why it is swapped. Don't forget that we use a new layout that /sdcard is sdcard0 and external is sdcard1 (/emmc)

Its not swapped when I boot into the OS only in recovery and it won't read the real internal SD card no matter what.

Sd Card...

Hi to all...
I'm in the process to install the new Energy ICS and my phone can't mount my sd card when in recovery 4Ext... I can't go further! I tried my card in my DHD and it sees it no problem... I tried formatting the card without any luck... Any ideas?
32GB class 10
Update... I tried an 8Gb and a 16 GB and nothing works so I guess it's not the card... My phone doesn't see any SDCard... Kinda strange...!

Rollback to your backup and see if everything's working fine, then perhaps reflash to the latest Recovery?

I can't... The backup is on the SDCard and the phone doesn't see any sdcard... I tried the internal storage and when I try to mount it, it says Error mounting... I'm pretty much stucked there if I can't get my internal ou external storage to work...
I tried for the 5th time to format the card and the internal storage with 4ext recovery and it worked... Did exactly the same thing 5 times and it only worked the last time... Go figure...!!!
Thanks for the help!!

Hrm... Not sure. To confirm, you can't see or mount either the external SD, OR the internal SD? (When plugged into your computer, right?)

I have the same issue. If you use cwm 5.0.2.6, works fine. Same thing happens when you use the new cwm. Just go back to the older one. Just flash it in hboot (ph85img)

Superwipe

Hi there I ran superwipe and and it wiped my external SDcard and now when I add the rom onto the external card it wont pick it up any ideas?
I get a message saying "no files found"
I've trued reformatting the SD card to FAT32 and dragged the ROM back onto the SD card and I still get the same message.
Can you see anything on Ext SD via My Files ??

I used the version that is packaged along with Android HD revolution and I know its not meant to but it did I have nothing on my ext SD any-more. I read that you should run superwipe inside of armoa but on my old DHD i use to run it in CWM and thats how I did it today I don't know if that will help.

Just checked the script right now..there is nothing in it which will mount your extsdcard..you can flash the script in CWM also but you need to have a ROM to install after it is done as it clears your /system partition also...
by the way..try taking out the sdcard..try unmounting and remounting your extsdcard...format it using the phone once..
check if it is recognized in another phone....

Yeah I know I'm not sure how it happened. I've tried reformatting the card once as a quick wipe and again as a full wipe I have also tried un-mounting and re-mounting the SD card in CWM. I will try the SD in another device and report back.

Superwipe is no longer in use (unless users use it themselves), it is now part of the ARHD Aroma installer and wipes certain parts of the internal sdcrad. No longer the whole internal sdcard.

Super Wipe
--- This script will erase and format your data (including Internal SD Card), system and cache partition ---
Download "Super Wipe" script & place it on your SD card (optionally if coming from earlier version of my ROM, obligatory if coming from stock or other custom ROM)
[*]Boot your phone in recovery mode (vol up + home + power)
[*]In main menu, select "install zip from sdcard"
[*]Select "choose zip from sdcard" and browse to the location of "Super Wipe" script

Since normal wipe in cwm wipes the data i can't understand the point of wiping the entirely sdcard?

Accidental thanks!
It serves no purpose, in cwm you can wipe data and caches, format system and you're good to go, wiping sdcard does NOTHING for the running of the ROM.
If you d/l GTA 3 or asphalt and use superwipe then guess what, you need to download 1-2gb of data again! For what?!?!?
Its absolutely pointless, pointless I say.

The thing that gets me with superwipe is that it is essentially designed for people with no clue to assist a clean installation............BUT.....if you have no clue you shouldn't be flashing Roms.....simples!

I'm not saying it was anything to do with the ADHDR Team i always recommend hd revo roms as I spent almost all the time with my desire hd using it. I'm just confused why my external card got wiped when it is only meant to wipe internal and now my external card wont accept new files.

Does Rooting require Micro SD Card?

Just to clarify because of the disagreement, you do not need an sd card, but a pc/mac/etc.. is required AFAIK
Regards
Jack
No need of external Micro SD card. Internal sd card (storage space) is build in but is also no necessary to root if you flash root kernel via Odin. It is directly flashed to system partitions.
External sd was needed in S2 while rooting thru fake recovery.

Reformatted internal storage, now sdcard not detected

Hey guys, so my galaxy s2 has been running on RR 3.0.5 with the latest siyah kernel. A problem I've been having is frequent media corruptions, and to solve that, I thought reformatting the internal storage would help. After doing so with cwm touch 6, it doesn't recognize my sdcard when i use my phone. What can I do to fix this?

So I tried swapping my SD card for another 32 gb one. However, it isn't the SD card's problem. It's that my phone simply doesn't detect that there IS a SD card mounted in it.

I remember there was this setting to mount the external SD card from settings > storage, but don't remember which ROM had that.
If that doesnt work/if that option isnt there, your last option is to check with stock ROM as suggested earlier. Maybe it is a hardware fault.

In RR there's no option for mounting external SD, only "unmount shared storage". Will try going back to stock 4.0.3 as my last option.
EDIT: Went back to stock 4.0.3, reformatted usb storage and sd card and flashed back RR 3.0.5. So far so good, no problems

External SD card permission issue

Weird enough suddenly I found all my external SDCard files have all permissions like:
---rwxr-x
Why !?? This happens to every file I copy onto it.
I needed them like:
rwxrwxr-x
so far, the only rough and long way I found is through Aromafilemanager and PhilzTouch recovery.
Yet I have to change the permissions one file at a time.
Can anybody help?
Sounds like a problem unique to you, I've never heard of it.
Flash the official stock rom, format your sd card in your pc using the industry formatting tool and test.
If the problem disappears then it was probably some combination of your individual setup.
Yep. Also ensure you haven't got any scripts running at startup. Sd permissions are set on boot and cannot be changed afterwards

Any mods that mount folders or swap storage.
Otherwise, something built into the rom.

@boomboomer
which filesystem do i have to use in formatting extsdcard 8gb via pc? exFAT / FAT32 / EXT4 / NTFS ?
moreover, in this post and following on dev rom thread, it seems it's a normal behaviour... am i missing sth?
https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4
Fat32 is the normal filesytem.
If it's common to your rom then your chef is the best one to approach, he may have set a script or mod.

I read through about 7 pages of sd card issues on the s3 and thought i cant read anymore, so i thought i would just ask. I've just bought an s3 and i got my 64gb sd card from my old phone to my new one. Problem is i have data from other games in the SD and titanium back up files in the externel sd card. Seems the S3 has its own built in SD card and only reads from that. I copied my TB files from externel to the internel. Now the games still require Extra files although they are in the externel SD. So how in the world do i get it to read my Externel sd instead of my internel? I thought of copying the files but i have 16 gb internel, 64 externel so its not gonna work considering i have 39 gb left in my 64 gb one,
